I feel like saying that Patrick Steward 1.) Made this feel a bit like Star Trek. (Not a bad thing, its philosophical contrast to Dune is actually important.) 2.) This is pretty faithful to the book and dialogue, obviously with understandable shortening.
Paul stays quiet in the book because he knows Feyd would find it annoying, he sensed Feyd talks a lot during battles and expects banter, so he used it to his advantage to keep silent.
Yeah and paul defended himself better In the book
@@jamestheloser203 Kinda. Feyd is super dangerous in the book. Paul wins basically because he screams "I will not use it!" (referring to the implanted word in Feyd that would paralyze him), which confuses the shit out of Feyd and ironically has the same effect, allowing Paul the moment to deliver a killing blow.
@@seandlax9 I have only read the book once, but from my understanding Feyd only killed people who were poisoned. When he went against that man who wasnt poisoned feyd almost lost, while paul killed people like jamis who is a fremen and fremen are known to be stronger then sarduaker. So I dont know if you can give all the credit to feyd being confused.
@@jamestheloser203 He does use poison, but really only so he can be theatrical and toy with opponents in the arena. The scene in the book was more of him being surprised and caught off guard at just how good the Atreides soldier was. Other than that he is a top tier combatant in the book.
@@seandlax9 That does make sense, I kinda forgot the context behind it and I agree, Feyd is definitely dangerous. Now I dont know if you're saying Feyd is stronger than Paul or if you're saying that Paul had a disadvantage because of Feyd's poisoned needle and knife and only won because of Feyd's confusion.
The best part of this scene was 4:08. I don't care if that was a Lynch invention. It shows Paul could have killed Feyd or anyone else in that room in an instant, but he intentionally chose not to and went through the dagger formality anyway.
Yeah, but it's better in the book. In the book there was a word that Fenring's wife implants in Feyd when she screws him (yeah, that bloodline isn't lost here with his death), that Paul can say to paralyze Feyd for a split second. He knows he can cheat in the book. Instead, he shouts "I will not say it!" which ironically has the same effect. It's so strange and catches Feyd off guard that he goes slack and Paul kills him.

It's actually the heads of two houses fighting each other here - Paul has been the new Duke Atreides since his father died and Feyd is the present Baron Harkonnen, als Validimir died in the previous scene. Paul here effectively ends House Harkonnen.

After watching Part Two, its truly a masterpiece of its own. 1984 Dune retains a much classic theatrical adaptation and matching the books, while the 2024 Dune is much more on a grander scale aided by technology that was unavailable previously. While i say the 1984 portrays a much more bizarre and sometimes unpleasant direction, i feel the script, dialogue, and masterful prop and art direction helped immensely considering the time back then. 2024 tops all adaptations and so far my best movie of the year where i would watch it multiple times. Not sure if I would say miracle... it's kind of stilted, especially compared to Lynch's other films. I'm not sure Lynch was able to match his surrealist horror to sci-fi, as much as I would love to see that movie of my dreams.
@@SuperRobertoClemente I agree, the movie is a bit of a mess. But having seen the new version I can definitely appreciate the weird and wonderful quality of the visuals, sets and costumes. Yes Doon in my opinion was on par with the original Star Wars
Yes this movie was very interesting I only watched it this year for the first time.
Dune was and is a classic.
I came here after watching the epic Dune Part II.
Say what you want about how great the new Dune movie is, but this is believably Paul Atreides
I don't know, for me, the new Paul is better. This Paul looks bit old
2021 Paul: yeah, this dude is too old.
2021 Glossu: he’s not a dude; you’re a dude. This… this is a MAN.
New Dune movie has great cgi, but also some added agenda and changes that make all that effort and cgi pointless.
@@hansolo1571 wtf are you talking about
@@joosoo he’s mad that minorities exist
This is a Great Classic my friends. Without Doubt. Thanks.
Amazing how cheesy this is compared to the new one
This slaps. Tho the casting of Patrick Stewart as Gurney Halleck is pretty wild.
