- French National Front leader Marine Le Pen has defended her party from accusations of racism, saying she could not allow Andrew Marr to make such a claim. He had quoted her father, Front National founder Jean-Marie Le Pen, saying he had called the Holocaust "a detail of history". Ms Le Pen said: "I don't think it's racist to say that we cannot take in all the poverty of the world, we cannot take care of hundreds of thousands of people arriving here because our first obligation is to protect the French people."

If I was French I would vote for this woman in a heartbeat.
She is the last hope for France.
As a leftie liberal I am horrified by how much sense this lady talks.
In both journalistic and academic fields, no subject should be off limits. There should be no need to apologise for, or justify this interview. The BBC should be expected to present a wide range of views, no matter how distasteful in order to remain unbiased.
What was the point of quoting Jean-Marie Le Pen from 30 years ago? What relevance does that have to the Front Nationale of today?
Le Pen is mightier than the sword.

I love to visit France, I love French culture and that's why I hope she wins. France for the French, England for the English, Japan for the Japanese etc. Globalisation is killing culture, free speech, and rights.
What a fantastic woman and hopefully France's next President!
She's got bigger balls than most politicians.
From Philippines go France!! elect her she's your only hope.
Eu destroyed greece
He actually apologizes for taking an interview. Holy shit BBC, what have you become.
I'm French and my vote for Marine Le Pen is already ready and even for the people around me.
Tiny protest outside BBC. LOL
I agree with everything this woman says. There's nothing hateful or racist about what she's saying. It's ridiculous to think that this was the interview that so many people were trying to censor. People are just so intolerant of alternative views nowadays
Le Pen is mightier than le sword
will france be the next country to leave the EU?
If I was French I would vote for her out of respect for all those who have died from terrorist attacks
