  • To commemorate the 35th anniversary of Howard Zinn’s seminal book, A People’s History of the United States, actors Susan Pourfar, Brian Jones, Viggo Mortensen, Kathleen Chalfant, Fatou Thiam, and Peter Sarsgaard and musicians Allison Moorer, Stew, Teddy Thompson, and Hayes Carll brought to life original source materials from the rebels, dissenters, and visionaries of our past-and present.

Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world...would do this, it would change the earth.

Ironically folks like Viggo are guilty of evil as well … like most of us. Artists like him are happy to take $ millions of dollars to do their art all underwritten by the modern oil-based capitalist global economy. That's where all this excess and excess $ comes from - and the ability to even have such vast art industries, the ability for him to even make a living and at that an excessively opulent living. At the expense of Mother Earth and her children.

Wow! Awesome words and deeds. So glad this is here too see, for free. Dr. Kings speech, well, I sigh and think what an incredible perfect message that still rings true today. ... I feel... we have approached that spiritual death he mentions.

Maybe not his best outing. He butchered "Do Re Mi" earlier too, despite my first encounter of the song. Bob Dylan performed it at a previous Zinn event.
