  • In today's video, I am sharing with you guys my entire art supply collection as of August 2022. I originally wanted to include my art papers and sketchbooks in this video, but it was getting too long so I decided on making that a separate part that I will upload soon! I don't have a giant art supply collection yet in comparison to many, but over the years I have definitely added a lot and I thought it would be fun to share all of that with you guys!
I am hoping in the future to keep expanding my art supply collection, especially when I hopefully am able to have more studio space to store things, but until then, I will manage to keep adding new supplies anyways hahaha! I hope you guys enjoy!

No artist ever won an award for having a neat or tidy palette. What it does tell me is that you use and enjoy your art supplies which is what they are for. Lovely.

Great video showing all of your lovely supplies! I also have a few sharpeners which will chew pencils up quickly so they only get used for graphite ones now, lol. My watercolour collection has reached shameful levels. 😬 Love your pencil collection; the Pablos in particular look like a really nice set. Holbeins are also insanely expensive here. Looking forward to Part 2 with your papers! ❤️

I swear by my Derwent Longpoint crank sharpener... I have 5 at all my work surfaces in my art studio and Bindery. I do alot of 1 off gallery pieces on a rather large scale. I go through ALOT of colored pencils. What I always do with my Derwent crank sharpeners straight out of the box... I take those 2 tabs you pinch together to open and lock in the pencil with, I pinch them completely together until they touch each other and the pencil locking mechanism is completely open ( like you would to insert the colored pencil ) and I take a 1/4" wide rubber band and wrap and twist and wrap and twist it over the 2 tabs until it locks the mechanism open. That way I use both of my hands to sharpen the pencil... one hand cranking and one controlling the pencil depth. Once you take away that stupid pencil lock slide, you have total control of how much of your pencil gets sharpened. I usually put in the pencil ( not all the way in ) and give the crank 3 or 4 spins and it re-sharpens the tip to a fine point without eating a quarter of your colored pencils. I use the swordfish long point crank sharpeners only for my pastel pencils ( because they sell the crank and inside helical blade separately, unlike Derwent) and I do the same exact thing with those too. When you use both hands, you can literally feel the pencil in your hand while you are sharpening... giving your hand feedback and much MUCH more control of the waste. Hope this helps and have a great day

I know this video is a few months old, but you should put double sided tape on the bottom of the metallic watercolour pans, it will keep them from falling out but also just a bit of pressure on them means you could remove them if you wanted to!

For the sharpener its not an issue, it is meant to be like that. Sharpening in to a longer point is better for drawing. I even sharpen some of my pencils by hand in to a 3 times longer point than a normal sharpener can, something that I was taught in art school and it helped with my drawing technique a lot.

I love all your art materials! You have a Pablos! Awww, and the luminance too! And the Derwent Drawing pencils are sooo wonderful pencils, and they are lightfast too. You have a good sets of pastels pencils, both are so good and have a great quality! The senelier watercolors are good too. You have a good art supplies Alexis!, congrats for that!😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Great video Alexis! You surely have a huge and impressive assortment of art supplies. You talked about your difficulty using soft pastels due to their messyness and breathing sensitivity to dusty media. I woul suggest the use of a "covid" mask which has been used for years as a dust mask. I used to use a sander in my job sanding and oiling wood in yacht cabins which generated tons of dust. It worked ok but the volume of dust was massive. I don't know any ideas on the messiness though,

Interesting, I have always preferred metal boxes over paper ones (I mean the comparison between the tins of Faber Castell pencils and the cardboard one of Caran d'Ache). Actually, I tend to prefer tins to wooden boxes - I have one or two more expensive wooden box sets and I like them because they are luxurious, but they are not practical at all. When I take them out to work with them, I feel like I'm moving a crate around the house.

Looked like you had a "dagger" brush but said you didn't use it much. Play with it when you get a chance, it is a very versatile brush that can do fine lines, rounded shapes etc.. I think you'll like it. Always great to see your videos!

Loved this video! So fun to see all of your art supplies! I'm wondering if you could tell me the brand name of your three zippered pencil pouch. I for some reason can't understand it on the video and would like to buy one to organize myself. Thanks so much for the help and for all of your wonderful videos!!

Since you mentioned that there will be a part 2 of this, do you have Graphgear pencil? If ever can you show it how to use? Coz I’m planning on buying it.
