Magical Appearance of Signs... Can Drivers Just Pick Up Riders? | DTA Series

  • 4th Video in the Series. This video was recorded on the dates September 10th, September 14th, and September 17th, 2023. I started recording this video for my own bus route understanding. Then, when a passenger waiting for a bus is left at the stop... HELP! How can we shift so that riders are just picked up as we all learn this new system.
    During a change where most all, if not all, busses have changed numbers and routs, busses are running on roads that are brand new due to new routs and construction. Riders are being told they NEED to be at a SIGN to be picked up. There isn't clarity where those stops are and then signs magically appear 2-3 weeks AFTER the re rout changes... AND, no one actually knows the answer. Please, pick up people where they are standing. Riders are not mind readers. Please help us help you and yourself.
    Please give the customer service reps accurate information. And PLEASE, encourage drivers to pick up those people standing at the side of the road NOT knowing WHERE to catch the bus due to lack of obvious signage or due to misinformation from those in authority at the DTA. And please, help us know WHERE we SHOULD be standing so we can learn the new system. We are all challenged here… let’s make it easier for everybody!
    My experience as a rider… The season of road construction here in Duluth, MN has certainly added challenges to rolling out the new Better Bus Blueprint Duluth Transit redesign. Not only changes to most if not all routes, new numbers, lines that are limited stops that used to stop at every block. Often no signage at new bus stops or old bus stops telling you what the new route is and where to catch it…. Along with the information attendants not having accurate information to provide riders with instructions as to where the bus goes so we know where to stand. And where bus stops, and signs are so that the bus will stop to pick us up…. This has been a VERY stressful situation as a rider. I imagine for the drivers and attendants too. Duluth, we can do better. Riders are at the mercy of the system and information is hard to find. Looking for help, for answers, for solutions so things can be better and successful all the way around. HELP!

    I'm so glad that you're a person who will speak to the driver in a situation like this! We hear so much about people who just ignore anything that's going on around them.
