- Just how big are the forces involved and how much of a family car is left after it crashes at a speed not uncommon on Highway, Motorway or Autobahn?

I woulda survived personally but that’s just me
Yeah you holding the steering wheel while not being in the car
i was in back but my lil' cousin died
You’d been fine in the trunk
I mean... here I am. I survived it 🙆♂️🤷🏻♂️😂
"The car deccelerates from 120 mph to 0 in 68 miliseconds with its passengers experiencing peaks of 400 g, the front end hits the wall with such force that the back end rises up 90 degrees and then car is slam dunked down onto its nose" Chills down my spine.
400 G wtf ! Its like 40 times the Gs that the best astronauts and pilots can endure 😯
You internal organs turn into liquid
Astronauts and pilots have to endure continuous G-forces, and the limit is as you said, around 10Gs. However, when a car crashes the G-forces dont last long, so the maximum limit would be around 180G, limit being set by a F1 Driver, David Purley
Yes you right. Didnt thought about the duration of the effect.
The word record for (short) high-g survival was Kenny Bräck crashing at Texas Motor Speedway in 2003: 214 g. However, this g-force was measured from a sensor attached to the car, not something attached to Kenny Bräck so the forces experienced by him have been much less with high probability. The true limit for human brain for forward going movement (deceleration) is estimated to be around 45 g after which the brain is crushed against the inside wall of the skull, no matter how good helmet you have. Humans can tolerate very short durations of higher g-forces as long as the total length of the deceleration is short enough to avoid moving the brain inside the skull too much.
0:35 "and the passengers.... DONT OSK"
😂🤣🤣🤣✌🏾
That's 2 MJ of kinetic energy, or the energy equivalent of 0.5 kg of TNT which has been dissipated at a rate of about 30 MW.

A feeling like no other, emotional peak.
You don't care about the lives you'll crush with you
@@aneural Like the emotions of a destroyed family?
@@DX16 ever heard of empty roads? Also drunk driving is the main reason for that shit not speeding, AND car safety technology has improved tremendously so the risk of death by car accident has gone down considerably. Stop being a baby
This needs to be shown everywhere every day for 5 years. Maybe it will sink in somewhere not to drive these traps with wild abandon. Maybe. I've also seen some Ford pickup trucks do this very same thing.
How many people do you know who’ve driven 120mph into a concrete block? 😂
The forces involved at such speeds are of magnitudes that no amount of crumble zones and passenger compartment hardening will make any difference. YOU WILL DIE, no matter how modern or large your vehicle is. It is just physics. So yes, they should show that video arround... but not to warn against particular cars or brands but instead warn about speeding.
You’ve got 2 good rims and a good rear bumper though
While 200km/h seems too much for a Focus keep in mind that a 100km/h frontal on a public road is a very likely scenario.
yea but even 100kmh straight into a wall will kill you, and 200km/h is nothing for a focus RS
The frontal collision of both vehicles at the speed of 100 kph is not "200 kph into the wall". It is still 100 kph, also when both vehicles collide, the impact is much softer because of the destructible zones of both cars.
@@NoOnesIdea but the speed of the two vehicles is added together. So if you have two vehicles collide head on at 100kph that is a 200kph crash. I know that Modern Volvos are designed so, if they hit something, they go ahead and to the side, in theory allowing the driver to have some form of control.
All but the weakest Focus engines are quite capable of approaching and sometimes exceeding that speed.
Sometimes, even crash test dummy is an extremely hard job.
Vilebrequin m'a fait venir ici
Omfg dude….
It’s simply impossible to survive a 200km/h crash…
Absolutely impossible.
Depends on the crash and the car. If the car flies away and spins instead of absorbing the impact 1:1 and you sit in a high-end german car then yes, you can even get out on your foot. I have a friend who lost control of his Passat at 180km/h and flew off the road with 3 passangers. 1 girl died, 1 guy went into coma, 1 guy got out without a scratch, my buddy broke his spine and took him 2 years to be able to stand up again.
Lesson: DON'T FUCKING EXCEED THE SPEED LIMIT. EVER.
@@raze83 yeah true but just….
Fuuuck
you cant survive ofc if its a direct hit like a tree or a wall

As a survivor of a 200kmh or 120mph ish
Yes you can survive but..
C4, C5, C6 and C7 destroyed
Lack of mobility on left side of the body done.
Lung almost colapse
Lesions on your sensory cortex
Lost of vision on my left eye for over 3 days
Lost felling sensation on my right leg
Oh and some herniated disc
Soo answering your question, yes you will survive but it depends on millions of statistics or pure miracle.
It's been a year already and i was able to recover 92% just because of my age thats all the doctors can say about that 🤷🏻
Thats why you always use your seatbelt!
Maybe even two.
five-point harness. I had them installed in every car I drive since 1995. how can people go without it?
There is no space left to exist inside the car.
Hiting the wall with 200kmh is equivalent to falling from 180m building
people survived worse. luck is everything.
Apparently, with falling, you can fall from any height...but it is that last half inch which makes a difference.
Note to self, avoid huge concrete blocks nxt time i put my foot down on the highway😂
It can buff out
It is soo sad to see a focus crash like that😢
If only the wall was wearing hi-viz...
Is the structural damage repairable? Did the airbags work? What would the driver tell the insurance adjustors?
The front evaporated. Occupants prob dead.
Now think of people who say, it's safe to drive 200 kmh.
If they see this, they say: Won't happen to me, I'm a good driver.
Well after such an accident, you fit into a cardboard for shoes.
First: find a wall on a highway
@@AnoNym-yt2hg même avec un autre voiture, le fossé, ou un arbre tu meurt à 200 km/h
@@AnoNym-yt2hg stopped truck. But even then you have to see it earlier and break. If you go at such speed without clear visibility then you are idiot.
Is there any crash test video at 400 km/h?
No. Even if a crash test agency tested a car at 400 km per hour it will cause a severe fire because at that high speed the fuel tank will guarantee to be severely ruptured and could by easily ignited by a spark.
@@mihaillevarda9395 Thanks for the information.
@@umanonimolegal1342 you are welcome
@@mihaillevarda9395they remove the fuel from the tank before crash testing, no crash tests are done using power from the car's engine to reach the speed. In simple terms, they use a large slingshot to launch the cars at the wall as can be seen in this video
Im not that sure about that. But I don't think there are that many walls on German motorways. xD
Well consider the fact that hitting someone head on is a similar scenario to hitting this wall, when you compare the combine speeds which is the algorithm pretty much used by comparison
But maybe a lorry standing still at the end of a traffic jam? A 40 ton lorry is pretty much the same as a concrete wall.
It can also happen on a country road if two cars, each traveling at 100 kilometers per hour, collide head-on.
There are indeed, consider the posts of bridges or the wall of a tunnel.
@@Chris-yy7qc
the obvious solution is to drive a vehicle as heavy as possible. I'd go for a tank, but that is difficult in my country, so the biggest I can offer is a 10 ton Unimog.
The plane I was in when it crashed into terrain was faster than that and I still survived with two other people.
What flight was it?
Sliding across flat ground is not the same as slamming into massive concrete block.
right
You can survive braking from much higher speeds... if the braking is soft enough there is no issue. The issue for speeding cars is that a lot of hard things tend to be arround that will happily provide more than enough braking power to smash you into red pulp.
I participated personally in this tests. As did my girlfriend, mom, and our child. We were crash test dummies.

Prochaine vidéo : on crash une smart fortwo à 250 km/h !!!
Why has this been re-uploaded?
This is a Fifth gear video
I know right?
200km/h into oncoming truck should do then?
Prevent gate stretch.
Modern art comment had me creased
Was there actual ppl in the crash or the mannequin had the same things inside the human body
Are you a good driver, so don't plan on going crazy at 200kph?
No, this is the same kinetic energy as a 25t truck crashing at 60kph. Being heavy is just as bad as being fast in physics.
But the law only regulates "speed". Why can't civil servants do physics?
That's the reason why trucks have different speed limits than cars in some countries, why the driver's ability to drive is more strictly regulated (e.g. rules for driving/resting times) and why more technical systems providing assistance for the driver are obligated where I live (Germany).
@@silasvegas3814 Europe is always smart and rational. On the other hand, in Japan, buses are still running at 120 km/h today.

Is it difficult to get drivers who are tired on their life ?
RIP car 😔
OHH! :O
Did not even hurt the back wheels at all.
Do you have any chance to survive?
No. Not at 400 gees. Theres no space left, you'd be squished and drain out before the extrication got your jelly out and in a bucket.
La jante arrière gauche est récupérable !!!
Wonder how a volvo or saab will fare. Will the wall be flattened?
Same as you see here
An important point to note about this 200kph crash, is that it is virtually the same as 2 cars travelling at 100kph each.
Admittedly, there are 2 crumple zones to absorb impact instead of one, but survivability in a head on collision with each car travelling at 100kph (a very common scenario) cant he too high either.
No, this exactly the same as 2 cars each travelling at 200kph. It’s 4 times as bad as 2 cars each travelling at 100kph.
Actually the survivability is quite high at 100kph. Over 50% would survive.
Impossible to survive this impact.
It is if you are saitama
Is true not only for the forces involved, but also it will cause severe burns because the fuel tank ruptured

nope. if someone does a crash test at 300 kmph the car will be on fire because at that high speed accident the fuel tank ruptures which is a safety hazard, because if ignited by a spark which is very likely all of the passengers will die from severe burns and from the forces involved of aproximatelly 600g
