Jurgen's wrest-comp huge respect for those who took the most intimidating move in pro wrestling history. it must be Scary as fcuk & scare the living daylights out of the wrestlers to get lifted above the shoulders of a 7 foot giant & then free fall all the way down to a back breaking spine shattering crash. it gets scarier & painful for those who were thrown down with force instead of free falling by Nash
I love that you showcased when Nash actually powerbombed the Giant. Hardly ANYONE will show that clip....but they love to show when Nash dropped him on his head.
Not more than the Dead Man aka Undertaker. Not only he took those sacks, he let the sack rest on his face for 3 seconds, elevate it so that they look like holy sacks and smash them to the ground. If that’s not enough, he even invert the sacks from another finishing move for a different experience. The true GOAT
1:08 I never realized he got it on big show without them botching it into a head drop. Impressive. And the one on Goldberg at 2:00 is damn near perfect
I just realise back in WCW, he does it with a less force whenever he is power bombing his friends or other big players. But towards the low card, mid card and jobbers he was brutal lmao. Sometimes it’s just a release, but sometimes he added an extra boost to the drop.
yeah you can see with the stars he slows down their fall or holds on to them almost until they're on the ground, then for most of them he just drops them or lets go, and for some of the smaller or midcard/jobbers he really slams them into the mat. In his defense(I know hes a dic.k anyway ) someone has to take a good bump to make the move look really powerful or scary especially when heel, and you're not gonna do it on the stars or your friends? Makes sense, if harsh.
This is a real thing wrestlers used to do and if you need any proof just watch any Spike Dudley match. Feel like they would have competitions to see who could ragdoll him the hardest.
It takes the other guy too for the move to work. The dude getting bombed pushes off the other guys knees to help lift then he should sit up at the high point for the move to look good and to prevent the recipient from landing on his head like the Giant aka big slow..show.
Imagine Kevin Nash performing the jacknife powerbomb to stone cold after the latter's injury courtesy of Owen Hart.. unless the injury that stone cold sustained will definitely prevent him from taking a powerbomb
Looking back on all of these it really seems like he was either struggling to get guys up, didn't protect them as he could have or simply flipped and tossed. Undertaker with the last ride, those guys landed flat and he got them up there to hit the move.
Usually in powerbombs, people taking the move pushes with their hands on opponents knees to generate more force and get up in the sitting position on shoulder. Nash always deadlifts his opponents. He doesn't need help. That makes it badass
1:50 the one on Disco Inferno was perfect. They were not timed at first but that’s what made it look like realistic. And then disco sold like a champ 😂
That shotgun blast sound, man, there had to have been a mic somewhere on that canvas, and it sounded awesome! I can't get enough of THAT JackKnife PowerBomb! 💥
Yeah, it was a gauntlet match and for some reason that's something they had the ref do even if Nash wasn't covering the opponents. I'm guessing it was meant to simulate a KO so that he wouldn't have to do a 10 count for each and every single one, but it looked REALLY stupid as a result.
My favorites in this compilation were the ones to Mortis and Randy Orton. The Jacknife to Mortis was perfectly executed with tremendous impact. The Jacknife to Orton was just straight earth-shattering impact!
Dunno, i always associate Jackknife with just a poor execution of Power Bomb. Even here, in a compilation of the best ones some are really horrible: 0:23, 0:30, 0:34, 0:43 , 1:04, 1:30, 1:39, 2:42 etc. Two cases here: too ugly or too dangerous... Nash said he didn't hurt anyone except Show that's a fact but damn there was alot of 'extremely close to'.
Apparently Bob Backlund got hurt by the one that Diesel gave him to win the WWF title to the point where Backlund said he would refuse to ever take the money again if he wrestled Diesel
1:02 looked painful. Missing a couple with Bagwell who sold it the best IMO, but I do like Mortis aka. Kanyon as well. It’s more over the top but he looked awesome doing it.
The best one IMO, Bret's selling puts it over so hard, looks legit as fuck. Some of the others were good, but too easily lean on the side of over-selling.
His powerbombs were dangerous - If you watch them, many of them he never got them above his head, he threw them straight down or off to the side. His were not consistent. I prefer Sid's - His started like Nash's but then became very pretty later in the late '90s. Vader's were also really good but sometimes he put more power in them than needed which could have hurt someone (i.e. Joe Thurman)
It's not a standard powerbomb. Doesn't look like it'd be that much different of a bump to take compared to other powerbombs. Not like he's spiking them on their heads or anything
@@Gammera2000 But he’s not giving them any proper direction so that the wrestlers could land safely and flat on their back. If the wrestlers were in an angle where their head or upper back were going to take the blow, he wouldn’t care and he would just drop them.
The one to Kanyon around the 1:32 mark is perfection. After that they all start looking more like I remember them and just like the version from the n64 video games.
Scott hall came up so good for nash on that power bomb the momentum almost took nash backwards. That's a good friend of Scott hall to make the Jack knife so easy for nash.
Remarkable how 90% of the time he managed to make his own finish look like utter shit. He suggested that HBK may have purposely took it wrong to make him look like shit at Mania 11, but if you watch, it seems clear that Shawn helps him with the initial lift up to the shoulders, thus the over rotation, and Nash releases early, and it looks bad because he doesn't hold him up and balance his weight long enough to drop him so his back lands safely parallel on the mat. Maybe Nash told him prior to the match his back hurt or something so help me out, so Shawn maybe sprang harder than usual when he was bent over in the set up to help him with the initial lift but when he over-rotated, Nash might not have accounted for it and released too early, which is what he seemed to do normally (rarely released before the opponent fully rotated so that the opponent's back is parallel to the mat to bump safely). Either way, they were both full of so many benzos and opioids and barbiturates at the time, who knows. Great name, terrible execution. Never meddum.
It’s called a variation. A much cooler version too might I add. The other ones were just basic boring powerbombs nothing special. With this logic takers last ride isn’t a powerbomb cause he lifts them up beforehand. It’s called jackknife powerbomb for a reason it shouldn’t have to be like other powerbombs.
With Kevins size and mannerisms…. This is the perfect finisher for the big man. Still love it! Made the power bomb “BIG AND SEXY’ cheers big man where ever you are
