A powerbomb is best when they sit up on your shoulders fully, before you bring them back down. You can easily drop someone too early and injure them if not careful.

      I used to like Sid when I was a kid. His size and power impressed me. But when I grew up and MATURED - I realized that Sid had no REAL TECHNICAL SKILLS. He was simply a tall muscleman with power moves - but no technical skills. A wrestler with technical skills usually overcomes a wrestler with power. And a wrestler with both power AND technical skills TAKES THE CAKE. Brock Lesnar is an example of a wrestler with both power AND technical skills. I really don't like Brock Lesnar, but my unbiased opinion would have him ANNIHILATING Sid Vicious in 5 minutes. My unbiased opinion would also have Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle forcing Sid into submission after reversing Sid's powerbomb attempt - or chokeslam attempt into a GRAPEVINED ANKLE LOCK. Both Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle could defeat Sid in one-on-one matches with him because both Lesnar and Angle have the TECHNICAL wrestling skills that Sid SERIOUSLY lacks!

    • @deshondbarnes8163
      @deshondbarnes8163 Před 2 lety

      @Wenus Wenus Brock Lesnar is a 12-time heavyweight champion in FIVE different organizations, whereas Sid is just a 6-time champion. Lesnar captured the WWE championship just five months after his WWE debut back in 2002 at the age of 25. Lesnar has demonstrated his "killer instinct" several times - breaking the arm of Mark Henry, and physically brutalizing the 12-time champion Randy Orton to the point of BLEEDING (in a one-on-one match that the two of them had)! Sid has never broken anybody's arm, nor has he physically beaten anyone until they BLED! Though Sid's last name was "Vicious," it was really LESNAR who deserved the last name "Vicious" more than any other wrestler. Here's a video showing Lesnar breaking Mark Henry's arm (followed by Lesnar's "howl of dominance."): czcams.com/video/jri-0iUGti4/video.html. Here is a video showing Randy Orton being BLOODIED at the hands of Lesnar at the end of a match: czcams.com/video/2bhg1M3qd6s/video.html.
      You have to admit - Brock Lesnar seems to be the MOST UNSTOPPABLE FORCE in the history of professional wrestling!

    • @deshondbarnes8163
      @deshondbarnes8163 Před 2 lety

      @Wenus Wenus Believe it or not, I'm not really a FAN of Lesnar, l just believe in giving credit where credit is due, regardless of whether I like someone or not. I'm more of a KURT ANGLE fan as he had the greatest technical skills I have ever seen in any wrestler. But as far as the ability to connect with the fans, perhaps Sid was better at that than Lesnar. But as far as pure WRESTLING ability, Lesnar was a better athlete and had technical skills and UFC fighting skills that Sid lacked. Even the late great CHRIS BENOIT once stated in an interview that "Brock Lesnar brings more to the table as a wrestler than Sid ever did." But when Chris stated that, he was referring only to Lesnar's WRESTLING ability, not to Lesnar's ability to connect with the fans (those are two different things). So I can understand your point of view.

    Sid had some cool variations like dropping to one knee, bringing the opponent up to one side before the bomb etc.
    Another thing that stood out was as powerful as he made the move look he always had great control of where his "opponent" was throughout the course of the powerbomb and he always seemed to slam them down perfectly perpendicular with the mat so the impact would be as close to taking a bump from standing as possible. Other guys who have used the powerbomb weren't always that deliberate, strong and safe. Kudos to Sid for being an awesome heel that was so good at being the bad guy you rooted for him.

      @@mrsain19 memory does not serve you correct. Sid had plenty of chances in both WWE and in WCW to do a favor for Bret, he just never did.
      And what does it have to do with your initial comment? Because obviously if Bret took that good of a power bomb, he was helping to get Sid over.
      Sid could have done the same for him by taking the sharpshooter once, or putting Bret over in a different way

    • @mrsain19
      @mrsain19 Před 3 lety +3

      @@TheNotbadphonedaddy to be honest, if bret is doing those jobs for sid, it must have been out of some sort of respect. And those jobs certainly helped sid to get over, no doubt about that. Sid essentially beat everyone BUT the undertaker during that time.
      Looking back at how storylines played out in WWF during that period, sid never had an opportunity to do a job to Bret. They had Bret tied up with others and same with sid.
      However, I could see where sometime in 98 or 99 where sid could have done the job to and for Bret in WCW. Just never happened. Essentially for the same reasons. They were wasting bret....and had sid tied up with goldberg and others.
      But remember, those guys dont particularly control that. Bret learned that the hard way unfortunately in montreal.
      But overall, I was always pretty entertained with Sid vs Bret matches. They worked very well together.

    • @TheNotbadphonedaddy
      @TheNotbadphonedaddy Před 3 lety +2

      @@mrsain19 while Bret did respect Sid, it was more a matter of booking than it was about doing a job out of respect.
      Sid the jobs for Shawn michaels, diesel, and if I thought hard enough about it I could come up with a few other names.
      To say that Sid never had the opportunity to do the favor back for Bret is ignorance. They wrestle the total of five televised matches. Bret pinned Sid with a schoolboy roll up in a lumberjack match. It was not a clean victory, so I don't count it.
      Then Sid pinned Bret with a clean power bomb on Monday night raw. Then said pinned Bret again with a clean power bomb at the in your house. Then in the only steel cage match that Bret ever lost during his WWE career, Sid beat him on Monday night raw.
      During that time, Sid could have put Bret over at least once. Even in their untelevised matches, it always ended with either Sid winning, a count out or disqualification.
      As to wcw, Sid did not want to work with Bret. He said he was too difficult to work with. And frankly that really pisses me off, because Bret did nothing but bury himself underneath sid, in order to make Sid look like a god.
      One of the things that Sid said in regards to his matches with Bret, is that he felt that Bret was too small to defeat him. Yet he had no problem doing jobs for Shawn Michaels.
      The undertaker, Kevin nash, Scott Hall and others who were built similarly to Sid had no problem putting over Bret.
      To the contrary, this is about professionalism and fairness.
      I feel the same way about Steve Austin. He did a bunch of jobs for Bret, but Bret never did the job back for steve.
      Now that was not Bret's fault. He wanted to do a job for Steve. Matter of fact he wanted to lose the heavyweight championship to Steve.
      So a much different circumstance, but Steve having one victory over Bret should have happened at some point

I saw someone say it looked lame, Sid tended to do nice safe powerbombs to talent, and did horrible nasty looking ones to jobbers. Which I think is a bit off. Big guys like Sid, Nash and Taker don’t need to do nasty looking powerbombs, as the extra height makes it look naturally dangerous.
