  • RAM do not provide a factory Aux switch option for the 2022 Power Wagon, so I have decided to install the Switch Pros 9100 to control my lights and things, and this video walks you through the steps.
    The Switch Pro’s is great because its solid state, so there are no parts to fall off, it has a battery protection circuit; so it will cut power to accessories before they run the battery flat, and the switches are all programmable with memory functions and triggers. There is also a great phone app for programming and controlling the switch.

    Another great install video. Haven’t decided on how to setup additional lights on my PW yet. I may just do some ditch lights and run a single switch inside to install on the bottom left driver side near the door below the current light switches. My compressor is portable and just uses the battery via jumper cable type connection.

    Pretty slick setup. Do you have to pull the switch pro off when you change the battery?

    • @goofingoffroad
      @goofingoffroad  Před 5 měsíci

      Yes, It's really easy to remove - just unclip the plug, remove the positive and negative lead and then take the metal strut off. You have to remove the metal strut to get the battery out anyway, so it's not much more work.

    What fuse did you connect the pink wire to, and what does the pink wire do?

    • @goofingoffroad
      @goofingoffroad  Před rokem +1

      I didn't use the pink wire. It's a trigger wire, and you can use it to turn on 4 switches - so, for example, you could connect it to the high-beam wire, and when you turn on your high beams it could turn on 4 light bars for you. Hope that helps!

    • @goofingoffroad
      @goofingoffroad  Před 7 měsíci +1

      The brace is there from the factory and would need to be removed to replace the battery anyway. The only additional steps would be to unplug the harness, positive and negative wires from the switch pros. So it's not a lot more work. And - hopefully I don't have to replace the battery too often!

    And you *can* put auxiliary switches into every other trim of Ram HD truck (though maybe not the other off roader, the HD Rebel). It’s mildly infuriating.

      @@goofingoffroad there will very likely be extra lights. In Alaska, it’s common and legal to use off road lights on road. We call them moose lights. Most folks tie them in to the high beams.

    • @goofingoffroad
      @goofingoffroad  Před rokem +1

      That makes a lot of sense. I personally like the flexibility of being able to operate my additional lights (especially fog lights) independently of the factory lights. That way, for instance, if I'm in a white-out snow storm I can turn off all the white lights and use the amber lights to see where I'm going :)

      Interesting! Thanks for sharing. The dealer I bought my truck from called the Mopar factory rep for the area, who assured us they were not an option for the configuration of my truck. I know they are an option for some of the power wagon configurations. If you were able to get them in your 2022 with the large infotainment screen, then please send the link for the part # to help other folks out.

      aux switches aren’t a factory option for the Power Wagon or (I think) the HD Rebel. It’s weird.

      @@fscottgray9784 Aux switches are available in any modification except PW. And if you take Rebel, then there is an interesting story: HEMI gives a winch as an option, and as soon as you choose it, Aux is not available. But with a diesel engine, where there is definitely no winch, aux switches are available.

    • @Jack-yl7cc
      @Jack-yl7cc Před 7 měsíci

      Power Wagons are a strange beast; other 2500s actually have a dedicated Auxiliary fuse panel(and firewall mounted plugs with a direct connection to the switches) that is used by the factory "Aux switches" and makes tying into the dash mounted switches super easy. I don't understand why that option is missing for Power Wagons and I wasn't able to get it either when I tried custom ordering a Power Wagon with the factory Aux switches. It looks like it should be possible to retrofit the "factory" option Aux switches and under hood setup but, it also looks way more complicated than just using this Switch Pro setup.
      With Diesels you can also get a secondary battery as a factory option and that is another thing that is missing from the power wagons. You can certainly install a secondary battery yourself since it would just bolt right in using OEM components or you can use the location to mount an ARB compressor.
