HST Departing Derby - 15/11/2013

- An East Midlands Trains' High Speed Train from London St Pancras International headed for Sheffield calls at Derby on the evening of Friday, 15th November 2013. The trailing power car was 43064.
The HST's spiritual home is Derby; it having been designed here and the Mk 3 coaching stock having been built here as well.
I used to love watching these scream out of platforms when they were all powered by the old Paxman Valenta!
Yeah, that was the 'authentic' HST sound for me too, along with the mushroom cloud of diesel smoke that used to erupt when the Valenta started moving!
Back when the proper trains were in service! There a dying breed with only 2 operators left now the XC ones are gone.
Absolutely! I had to endure the dreaded Meridians to/from London yesterday...it's a crime that the HSTs have been allowed to be withdrawn in favour of inferior products!
@@StreetLightOnline Me and hayden did a chesterfield to plymouth and back on an HST, on the return trip it didnt call at chesterfield so we had to get off at derby and get a meridian back to chesterfield - it was like going from royalty to scum! There absolutely disgusting inside they stink of piss and the seats have grease marks on the headrest where people have leant there heads on it over the years! Im glad it was only a short journey 🤣
Yeah, I can see why you felt as if you'd been downgraded after travelling in style for the rest of the day! Be grateful that it was only that short section where you had to endure the awfulness - it will have made you both appreciate the HSTs even more!
