- Join us on one of the top Mount Hood day hikes, the hike to Mirror Lake. If the conditions are right, you can see a great reflection of Mount Hood in the lake. It’s also a great place to swim near Mount Hood. The water is a little chilly, but not too cold to swim in the summer.
In today’s video, I’ll share the highlights of the hike to Mirror Lake and everything you need to know to hike Mirror Lake yourself.

The Mirror Lake trailhead is a little over an hour’s drive east of Portland, right next to Mount Hood. The great Mount Hood views start on the drive itself. Even the parking lot has a good view.
We arrived just before eleven on a summer weekend, and we got the very last parking spot. I’d recommend going earlier if you can. You’ll need a Northwest Forest Pass or an America the Beautiful pass for parking.
The hike is 4.2 miles. It’s a a lollipop loop that travels uphill to Mirror Lake, then loops around the lake, and then travels back downhill to the trailhead. You can hike the loop around the lake in either direction. Here is the link to the trail entry on AllTrails so you can find the map easily: www.alltrails.com/trail/us/or...
The first part of the hike is shared with the hike to Tom, Dick, and Harry Mountain. That hike climbs to great viewpoints, and we’ll cover it another time!
If you like the hike to Mirror Lake, you may also enjoy the hike to Burnt Lake, which likewise has a great view of Mount Hood. Here is the link to our video on the Burnt Lake trail: • Burnt Lake Trail - Mou...

Beautiful. Thanks for sharing
Thanks! 😀
One year I hiked up there with some friends and we hauled a crawdad trap with us. Caught the biggest most delicious crawfish I have ever tasted, and a ton of them! Better than lobster
This is the Tom Dick and Harry hike? I miss that place
Yes! We didn’t go all the way to Tom, Dick, and Harry Mountain, but the first part of the hike is the same.
