  • We found a hidden gem in the Mount Hood area. It is a great alternative hike from the popular Trillium Lake area but without the crowds. Hike to Burnt Lake Trail in the Mount Hood Wilderness where you can catch a stunning view of the tallest mountain in Oregon. This is a great beginner-friendly hiking and backpacking trail in Oregon that offers an off-the-beaten-path and expansive view and reflections of Mount Hood.
    Trail access is closed due to seasonal gate closure between Dec 1st and April 1st annually. The best time of year to hike Burnt Lake Trail is from late June to October.
    Trail Name: Burnt Lake Trail 772
    Distance: Approximately 8 miles total (out and back)
    Elevation gain: 1,500 feet (457 m)
    Dog-friendly trail, Northwest Forest Pass required to park at the trailhead, Wilderness Permits are required between May 15 and Oct 15, which are free at the trailhead.

    I enjoy your adventures music or no music. That being said the music brought in a peaceful element one ought to feel when doing wilderness activities. We're going to the Mt. Hood area for the second year late June early July and it has become one of our favorite areas. We're also going to the Baker Mountain area (WA) which if I remember, you two have been to and have a CZcams on. (?) We're very much looking forward to the Chain Lakes hike in that area. By the way, we will be 70 and 71 years old. Traveling, hiking and camping is what keeps us going!

      Thanks so much for your nice message. So glad you found our video peaceful. We are trying to figure out our style. We love the Mt Hood area, such a good choice. We love Romana Falls that is right next to this hike. Also, we have another video recommend paddle boarding or hiking around Hidden Lake in the morning before 10am before the crowds: czcams.com/video/uvlAfpnmJxY/video.htmlsi=rY0GpHP0WjfyoLZs
      We have a few videos on Mount Baker too. Hands down top 5 places to go in the PNW. Here is a Mount Baker video: czcams.com/video/fFW-Ycb5je0/video.htmlsi=5pokrDUA4jBKEYeA
      So glad you both are staying active and enjoying it. It’s very good for the soul 🥰🏔️

      Definitely! Astoria is 1 1/2 hr south of here, an easy drive. I’m planning to visit my parents in CA over Memorial Day weekend but will return Monday. The first week of June I will be around.

    I love all the little moments in this one! This video may not be as heavy on the grand sweeping views, but seeing the beautiful bits of nature was great. One of my favorite things about getting out into nature is being able to appreciate those cool moments like discovering giant hollowed-out trees or appreciating the frost on the foliage.
    Wishing you all the best. Life is fleeting, but that just gives us more motivation to enjoy each moment to the fullest.

    • @HelenandTimTravel
      @HelenandTimTravel  Před 2 lety

      Thanks, Mark. This one we edited with heavy hearts so we stuck to focusing more on nature and our connection with it. Definitely about appreciating the little things for sure. Life is too short to not try our hardest to be present and mindful when we are out in nature. Something we struggle with all the time. Appreciate your thoughtful words. We miss our fur baby, Sadie 🥹🐾

    Thanks for the great review. Your dog is obviously well behaved but I have to say that we would be very concerned to see a Shepard off of the leash running towards us.

    • @HelenandTimTravel
      @HelenandTimTravel  Před měsícem

      Your welcome! If we see any people, we usually put her back on leash. That particular morning no one else was on the trail since we started so early. 95% of the time we leash her. She has since passed, but she didn’t run after people. She was scared of everything 😔

    Isn't that a beautiful spot? Looks like you had a great hike and you got lucky with a lack of crowds. This is normally a VERY busy, crowded, popular destination. On summer weekends hundreds of hikers head up there.

    • @HelenandTimTravel
      @HelenandTimTravel  Před 2 lety

      Such a beautiful spot! We wouldn’t have guessed it would get so crowded since it requires a bit more energy. Hardly saw anyone there. Better place to hike in the shoulder season then and a good beginner backpacking spot. Are you in the Portland area?

    Is trillium still frozen over?

    • @HelenandTimTravel
      @HelenandTimTravel  Před 2 lety

      This time of year there is still snow and the gate/road is closed so you need to do a short hike to Trillium. Likely it’s not frozen any more. This trail is just an alternative for those interested in getting away from the crowds. It is a harder hike than Trillium. Let us know if you have questions ☺️
