  • This is it! I have discovered the number 1 day hike in the Mount Hood National Forest. It is exactly what I would call a hikers paradise!
From the Lolo Pass trailhead I follow the Pacific Crest trail to the Timberline trail for the absolutely most stunning views of Mount Hood.
This Oregon hike was one truly rewarding adventure.. Log jumping, wildflowers galore, views for days & Jess gushing about why I love solo hiking.
Its a great day to wander Oregon at Mount Hood National Forest!

My dear Jessica - I am so glad I "stumbled onto" your internet video site.... all because I was doing some light research on the movie "Last of the Mohicans".
I call myself a small town Indian boy from southeast Alaska .... full of gratitude for reaching my 78th year, and having the opportunity to have lived in many places in the U.S., as well as visiting many more places in America.
Your video and your descriptive soliloquy (in its entirety) took me on the hike with you, that at the time, you referred to as your favorite (?). Your moments describing "relationships that ended"... and the personal "growth" you recognized, and appreciate (to this day?) .... made this old man smile in admiration.
BTW - the coast of Oregon, I think is my favorite (year round) place in the U.S. for a few reasons .... but one that I will mention is the "invigoration" I feel in breathing the air ... there. I'll refrain from commenting on (current?) politics of the more populated areas.
One last time ... thanks for "taking me with you" .... the only thing I think that would have been better, would have been to actually be there with you (in conversation).
    Appreciate you !!!

Fresh out of a 17 year long relationship, 4 children, house, etc, and just having done my first solo hike to Ramona Falls yesterday by myself, like I used to do, that part about building yourself hit hard and so true.
Thank you for making this video and really inspiring me to continue on my solo adventures and to keep finding my way in this brave new world!
Rock on random lady from a video recommendation.

    Hi Jess!!
Your video was absolutely breathtaking!! This hike is on the top of my list of things to do in Oregon. I have a few questions for you and would really appreciate if you could answer them!
Was the drive up to the trail confusing? What did you put in your gps to get there?
Do you just go backwards to get to your car or is it a loop if you don’t go to the waterfall?
Did you need a permit to hike the trail?
Thank you so so much! (I’ve never been on a hike before so I apologize for so many questions)

    • @WanderJessica
      @WanderJessica  Před 2 lety +2

I looked up directions to Lolo Pass and Bald Mountain. It should be really easy to get directions with a quick search.
Yep it’s an in and out hike. Not a loop. So you just turn around and go back the way you came.
No permit needed unless you want to backpack in and stay the night. :)
      Have fun out there!

Probably should carry a little more than bear spray when hiking solo. Great video, came across this while searching for a trail near this one on Mt. Hood. Keep trekkin...

I was out there last weekend doing some other trails and the road that leads to LoLo I drove on a bit and there was a lot of rocks and branches down. Is the road decent up to this trail head. Btw...I do not have a 4x4 lol

I'm 58 I've been backpacking since highschool. I had a similar issue with my ex-wife, ten years married, if it wasn't what she wanted to do, it didn't happen. 4 years divorced and I feel that , I'm still getting back into backpacking... Another thing about getting out and hiking alone when you have no one to go with, is it creates independence and self reliance. Also you can meet cool people out in the trail.

This section is perfect for dogs lots of small streams along the way most of the year lots of shade after bald mountain and ends up at the river crossing Wich can be treacherous I turn back at that point it really moderate 5 and 7 year old did great

    Hi! I loved your video!
I’m French living in pdx, was the last place where you were the end of the trail back to your car, or is it the end and then we have to go back all again the same way ? Thank you so much if you answer!

I completely agree about being okay with hiking on your own not relying on anyone to keep yourself company. Only reason I prefer hiking with someone is for safety. There is a lot of crazy people hiding in trails 😐

Hi, I'll be heading to Oregon in Mid June, everything I've seen has said to do the trail starting in July. Has there been a lot of snow this yr or any reason why June would be a poor time to go? Oh and Happy Mother's Day.
    Thanks

Thank you very much! This was recorded over Fathers Day in June. There has been a lot of snow this year but we are warming up pretty quick. Personally I would check trail conditions on AllTrails and you might get lucky 🍀

@@WanderJessica I'll actually be coming out of the Eagle Creek trail Sat of Father's Day weekend. But I will try to do a thru hike of the Enchantments with a friend of a friend snow permitting on that Monday instead of Mt Hood. If that happens I will have 2 days to fill so maybe I will give it a shot. Thanks again regardless.

(22:22) To your left on the screen. WEIRD tree is bent but not broken (the bottom part of the tree) Bigfoot did it IMO. And all the tree branches broken in that 1 spot. (I would go past those tree dump area) Find out why it's all there. (Or climb up and wait)
