- A preview of my next release, CFR-02 La Sonnambula, 1955. This is NOT the final product, still a work in progress.
This is from a new digital transfer of my prized LP, which has better sound than any other source I've heard, and includes the original finale. There has been a lot of noise cleaned up compared to the first time I posted this.
Once finished, the full performance will be available on CD via my ebay site, and also via my new Sellfy store, as a FLAC download. My previous release, the 1951 Aida, is available now as a digital download at the following address:

I absolutely love you for posting this duet and restoring it so beautifully! The magic the three of them (Valletti, Callas, and Bernstein) create is electric. They leave us on the edge of our seats for fear of missing a brief instance of their fine legatiasimo. Considering the absolutely awful performances of this opera over the last four decades, it is hard to even imagine that this entire performance ever actually occurred - it’s just too perfect! Thank you again!!!! 😍
I have the entire performance on CD, and Callas singing the finale is incredible. It's just brilliant.

Ever since I found out DiStefano actually sung Sonnambula in his early career days I keep thinking what he would have sounded together with her.. From interviews I gathered he liked this opera and found it to be one of the difficult tenor partitures, so no sure why he never sung it when his career was in full bloom. Such a pity!

Maybe the tessiura is a bit too high for him. I really wish Callas, Di Stefano and Gobbi (he sang the role of Rodolfo in his early career) could sing in Sonnambula together.
@@BaroneVitellioScarpia1 he sung Puritani with Callas, another high tenor role, and he sung it very well. Don’t think in the early-mid 50’s Pippo had any issues there

Callas' Amina has always fascinated me bc it's so so different from roles like Norma or Medea and the way she is able to embody this highly feminine girlish character to such a different degree than her more "la tigre" roles is nothing short of astounding. A real sorceress
