Helldivers 2 devs roasted them.
It was hilarious.
The "Unheard" edition or the "Unsold" edition?
Surely they're not stupid enough to not expect major backlash before releasing this unheard edition. Testing the waters is one thing but they literally stepped on a minefield this one
To be fair Chris Roberts walked this microtransactions path years ago with Star Citizen and, apparently, they are working their way up to his level of greed aka 'The Best (or worst in this case) is still to come."
Oh and let us not forget that they are a Russian company where Putin sets the standard for truth, honesty, fair business practices, etc.
Unhinged edition is currently the nickname of choice. Some call it the unalived edition. Even cheaters are specifically hunting down owners lol

"Play offline with friends" it says, yet you still need to connect to an online server and sit in waiting queues due to limited server availability.
Yep. Offline would mean a version someone can play on their own, but then say they can't give it to everyone because it is on it's own server. That isn't offline, that is online with different game rules.
@@greed-1914 yea its so bad, a single player version should be offline or peer to peer. That is why the SPT AKI mod is going gangbusters because its offline, but can be modded to play with friends.

250 for essentially an offline mode? I wouldn't pay that for an entire game, but a game mode?
My thoughts exactly
The best part? There's a mod called single player tarkov that works better. Only thing is not having coop (though several people have tried)
yeaaaaaa thats not how that works at all its the base game plus all the dlcs and addons of all editions of the game that were already available for purchase for 4 plus years and then new exclusive items for this edition plus the 6 month early access to the offline mode that everyone else will get access to at launch. so u get all content from every other version of the game plus the new added bonuses in this one. Not to mention there's been a huge issue with a community of people using unlicesend single player mods for the game that are basically being marketed as a separate game, and tarkov released this to allow the people that are illegaly using the game files to play single player tarkov that they want, if they upgrade to this edition. also if u already own the game then it isnt 250 it would be the difference in the price of the package u own and this, wich is how every other version of the game works u can buy the base game and then upgrade or u can just but the pack u want from the start. All the publicity around this is super disingenuous. Do i think its over priced ooh yea but by no means is it 250 for pve like its being framed as.
The best part is it's not an offline mode. It's still on their servers, just a modified version of them.

beta doesn't mean what it used to these days. In a regular dev cycle, a beta would be a game with all the finalized content that only needs to be polished (like replacing placeholder UI, fixing bugs, QoL and balance changes). But today, you can keep adding new content to a game, no matter how broken or unfinished it is at release. It's like we are always on a midway point between an alpha and a beta.

KNOCK ON WOOD AND TOSS SALT IMMEDIATELY
EA and all other AAA publishes WILL start doing this if they get out of this with thousands of sales of this edition. It's all about artificially raising the prices of games from $80 to $250.....without actually raising the price. It's all about how much $$$....and how fast they can get it.
A few things to clear up:
EOD owners never had to throw an extra $250 to get this edition. This edition has always been sold at a discounted price, based on the edition you currently own. Originally, EOD players had to pay an additional $100, which has since been taken down to $50.
BSG not only lied to EOD owners, they changed wording on their website in order to make it look like they never promised some of these things, thinking we wouldn't notice but we very much did. They lied about changing it too, saying "we did not do that."

That is so beyond the moon, it beats even the 'expected' premium editions on the price scale, alone.
It's NOT an offline PVE mode!! It uses their online servers. Which according to a Twitter post can be invaded by cheaters.
They never claim it to be an ''offline PvE mode'' to be fair. they just say PvE with co-op mode and persistent progression, no wipes. the ''no wipes'' and ''persistent progression'' indicates they have persistent control over the servers you will be playing in still. peer to peer would be better but for now, clearly not possible.
The cheater issue is something that has plagued tarkov perhaps more so than any other game simply due to the fact getting killed in tarkov is more costly to you as a player than most other games. I dont think we can just blame the developers for this, they are clearly heavily targeted thanks to the nature of the game and ability to engage in RMT (real money trade) and if we know anything about cheaters and the cheat systems out there, they rarely can be beaten, if cheaters really really want to fuck your game, consider it fucked.

@@isaiahgonzales9989 yes it says that… however yongyea has made a mistake in saying that is the part exclusive to the new edition of the game… its the follow up part that is exclusive to the new edition which is the part that says PvE co-op.
The “play offline with friends” part is not exclusive to the new edition of the game, that is referring to offline practice co-op mode which is a separate part of the game in which you can play offline with friends but there is no quests and no progression. This is offline and you can set up the game to your liking, how many scavs spawn in, how aggressive they are etc.
They probably should have left that out of the trailer since it is already in the game so I can see where the confusion comes from but the important part is the part after that “PvE co-op”, this is the part exclusive to that edition.
Again something regular players would know but not people looking in from the outside that do not play the game. Don’t get me wrong though, that’s absolutely the fault of the devs creating the trailer, very easy mistake to make when they put play offline with friends.
@@WolfyRagnarok I’m not defending them,
I am as pissed as anybody else, I own the EOD edition of the game and they went back on their word on what we get, very scummy and they deserve all the backlash they get… but some things are being complained about that are just incorrect but being used to stoke the fire.
For example there is a seemingly big issue with pay to win mechanics but anybody that actually plays the game and understands how it works should know that for example gaining level 6 with fence is incredibly difficult, I’ve never done it in 3000 hours and that is required in game before you get the perk “AI scavs don’t shoot first over 60m away”. You can not pay for the new edition and gain that perk, if you could it would be pay to win, but you actually have to earn it in game and it is not easy at all, it’s actually a pretty good addition to the game to reward that achievement but people see that perk and instantly say that it’s bullshit because you are paying for that advantage. That is absolutely not the case. So I will point out things like that.
Yeah the left behind edition coupon would mean I couldn’t play offline with my friends, if four new players wanted to fill an offline lobby and play the game together without being hounded by hackers it would cost ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS, which is absolutely INSANE. Especially the rumors involving the ability for hackers to enter your offline raids.
If the Escape from Tarkov crew were smart they would have made the Unheard edition a physical edition with the only way to access the PVE mode being through a physical disk, then add some actual physical items. That way they could actually argue that PVE isn't DLC, and the $250 price tag would at least be in line with other Ultimate physical editions sold by other studios. Not that I think this would be a good practice that should be normalized.
They can't do that simply because of how the game is made. EFT is a single player game made multiplayer. If cheaters got a hold of a CD with the game they could make cheating even worse. This is why they are forced to keep their offline mode online.
@@legendtoni1094 ehhh cheating is already super easy for them, they can download the entire game and mod it with the SPT AKI offline mode, it wouldn't matter that much.
I understand 250 bucks for a game is insane. But damn, 250 bucks for a single game mode. That is certainly pushing it.
Ubisoft: WRITE THAT DOWN! WRITE IT DOWWWNNNN
“How much is a banana, Michael? 10$ ?!” ~Game Devs
And you're not even getting any kind of useless bust or statue with it.
Pushing it? Nah, this is stuffing the corpse into a rail gun and punting it into the heart of the sun 😂
I don't play escape from tarkov, not my type of game, but this is bovine faecal matter and now that they've made this move, other devs and publishers (mostly publishers) are now watching this unfold to see how they can twist their version of this nonsense to normalise it and screw the rest of us 🤬
That's an understatement friend.
I was waiting for you to cover this. The discord and the subreddit have been a battleground.
Not really. Pretty much everyone unanimously agrees it's bull. It's more like watching a group of dogs jumping a squirrel.
@@dudebruh8534 Thats fair. I'm more referring to what I saw (2 ish nights ago) with the, what i assume trolls, stoking the flames supporting the update

The unheard of version is called that because this level of audacity is unheard of
$250 is more than the original steel battalion WITH the huge cockpit filling controller assembly. Full on hardware. They want to charge that much for a single mode, I want a Mech with that.
Damn, not even blizzard murdered trust as hard as they did
They were just the forerunners of this crap.
they already caved earlier today and now give pve mode for free to EOD holders permanently and will be later separately sold available for everyone🤣
their PR team was already begging for sweet relief of death
i got eod and havent touched it, might update it lmao.
fucking greedy assholes
"in waves" and "after release"... The game is 8 years in beta now. It'll likely be dead before release
Too late, they destroyed the good will of their player base and no doubt lost plenty of players

lol I doubt that. Gamers cry a lot but most will stick around
Meanwhile, STALKER GAMMA, Anomaly and EFP are free
I guess this is the overwatch 2 treatment but worse

@@krazyd0nut404 and onlt for 6 months remember.
at least blizzard was bought by microsoft and they can get more money but from my limited research the devs for this game is pretty small and not backed by a corporation. they either shape up or this game is shutting down.
I hate this industry.
Welcome home. Before you leave for a new home take this as it’s dangerous to go alone without it.
"The heat isn't on ME anymore, LET ME JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON NOW!"
"You play on our servers, only in closed mode" - so the OFFLINE mode is still online? Now that's an interesting interpretation of those words. I would have expected this mode to offer true offline play, e.g. with two consoles in the same wifi, with one of them hosting a local server.
Could've just said LAN. There's a term to describe it.
Wow, they somehow managed to do it even worse than Ubisoft with that timegated-PVE-now-released-standalone-unfinished-at-full-price mess way back with Rainbow Six
This definitely has merit for legal action against this company.
How so?
Good luck they're russian developers
In a civilized and developed country or legal framework this would be on the table. Sadly, the devs belong to the lawless fetal alcohol syndrome region of the planet.
It would have, but the devs are based in russia so... nah. The legal system there is just for getting rid of political enemies. You can't actually sue a company there. Well you can sue but you're not winning.
@@EskChan19 Holy moly. So that's how these companies are getting over on gamers now. They set themselves up from the start with bad faith.
I had never even heard of this game until this.
Ubisoft: "Quick!, write that down!"
That "unique" knife is actually a cheap asset from the unity store. They're literally so lazy that they repackage assets and resell them as their own.
Apparently not true. The models' wireframes are different. The BSG blade's texture is also different.
I'm not at all involved in game development, so I wouldn't know the truth behind it. But yes, the two models are extremely similar.
@@andrewmcarthur8078If the model in question is not specifically based off of a real life knife, then it seems strange to copy another model like that down to a tee.
@@JackFoxtrotEDM oh I agree. But from what I've seen there are differences in the models. Like I said, the wireframes are different and the blade's texture is also different.
The first AAAAAAAAA videogame.
Well it being a Nonuple A game would certainly nail the Non part of the equation...

Every day game developers are getting more and more outrageous with this type of pay to win scammy games.
I'm surprised Ubisoft and Activision still haven't done that
This makes duke nukem forever look decent

@@Windchanter420true
At least its DLC is the game's saving grace
I think the real reason this is so expensive is because they are afraid of people cracking it but ironically, pricing it this high will make people want to pirate it even more.
Fun fact : The PVE promised is on a private server, meaning cheaters can get in them to ruin everything.
I don't think I ever saw a game developer burn community goodwill so quickly. Has to be some sort of record there because I don't think EA, Activision/Blizzard, and Ubisoft have burned away community goodwill so quickly.
I started playing my old ps2 games and I’m having a magical time with soul cal 3
For $250, it better be a physical edition with art book/soundtrack/figure/etc AND in game goodies.

Not only reddit and Twitter is on fire. Tiktok is also on fire. That's how I learned this yesterday. I never had any shooter things in my algorithm and still got the rage. Says everything.
I straight up said the first time I tried Tarkov that if they had an offline PvE mode with full progression you probably couldn’t get me to stop playing it ever considering the weapon customization and the dedication to realism. $250 for it? Unreal
It’s not offline even. You still are on a server.
$420NZ, there isn't a yikes big enough.
Never thought I see the day when a $499 game console would look like a good deal compared to a single game.
Is yikes forever big enough?
Roughly the same price here in Australia. It’s beyond the joke of a price you can buy a new console
Is that with the added fees? You don't get the game for the 250. You're also paying taxes etc on top
