  • Today we show you how to make these incredible chickpea fries and some vegan tzatziki to go with it. This combo is on another level! Both are pretty simple to make and extremely tasty. It would make a great appetizer if you are having people over that would please any palate! We both actually couldn't believe how delicious this combo is.
Have you ever had chickpea fries?
    Chickpea Fries recipe
    Ingredients:
    2 cups water
    1 cup chickpea flour
    1 tsp olive oil
    1/2 tsp salt
    Optional spices:
    1/2 tsp black pepper
    1/2 tsp onion powder
    1/2 tsp garlic powder
    Directions:
    1. Pour 1 cup of water into a medium sauce pan along with olive oil and salt and bring to a boil.
    2. In a separate bowl, add remaining water, chickpea flour, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Whisk together until mostly smooth.
    3. Add the chickpea flour mix to the boiling water and turn down to a simmer (medium heat), stirring constantly until it gets very thick. It will take at least 5-6 minutes.
    4. Spread the mixture to your desired thickness on a non-stick baking tray or silicone sheet and allow to cool.
    5. Once it’s cool, cut into fries and roast at 400 f for 20 minutes, flipping and baking for another 5-10 minutes until the edges turn golden brown and the fries are crispy.
    6. Serve hot with your favourite dip!
    Vegan Tzatziki
    Ingredients:
    1/2 cup unflavoured/unsweetened vegan yogurt
    1/2 a lemon, juice
    1 garlic clove
1/4 cup of soaked cashews (1/4 cup before soaking)
    2 tbsp chopped fresh dill
    1/4 of a cucumber, grated
    1-2 pinches of salt
Directions: 1. Blend the yogurt, lemon juice, and cashews together in a blender until smooth
    2. Pour into a bowl and stir in the rest of the ingredients until well mixed.
    3. Serve immediately or chill it in the fridge (this helps it thicken up).

OMG so I made them and they're sooo good!!! Instead of adding salt to the boiling water I added about a half tsp of "no chicken" vegan bouillon to put a little flavor in there(i think the bouillon had salt in it). Its good! and I realized I had a pizza cutter to slice the dough into 'fries', it worked perfectly. :)

Thanks for Sharing ❤️, just wish I had been raised vegan or known sooner!!! It's such a liberating feeling and so healthy ❤️ Was a bodybuilder in my younger days and ate a high protein diet (was so programmed to eat animal products). It caused me so many problems. Been vegan now about 6 years and vegetarian before that a few years.... so happy for the change!!!!!

    Hallo Derek and Crystal!
Thank you so much for another tasty recipe video! I´m Greek and I have some suggestions for the tzatziki portion of the video:
    1. You could grate the cucumber in a towel and squeeze the water out before adding it to the sauce to get a firmer end product.
    2. You could sub lemon juice with white or red wine vinegar.
    3. You could use a vegan greek style yogurt or a vegan skyr style yogurt to achieve the right consistency in your sauce.
I have been making vegan tzatziki this way for a long time and it is always delicious!
Sending you love and wishing you all the best!

Genoese panissa is just like what we see in the video: it's either eaten when the pudding solidifies, seasoned with oil, salt, pepper, and red onion. (served warm in winter, or at room temperature in summer). Or you chop it up into 'French fries' shapes which are then deep-fried. Traditional and widely available street food.

I mean, even before I clicked on the video I knew this one was going to be awesome but having watched the first 30secs now, I really want to make these asap! Chickpea flour is so so versatile - I use it for béchamel, omelettes, pancakes and quiche filling. I have also seen people make Burmese tofu with it and the concept is pretty much the same as for you fries but you leave it at the cooled-down stage and then fry it or simply cube it for various dishes. Having said that, fries sound AMAZING because anything crispy is just 10x better :D Thank you guys for this fabulous recipe!
