- What is the meaning of the name “Jesus” in the Bible?
Jesus’s name in the original Hebrew is Yeshua or Y’shua. This name is most often translated as “Joshua” in English.
We use the variation of Jesus as a direct pronunciation of the way his name appears in the Greek of the New Testament: Iesous. In Latin, Iesous is written as Iesus (there was no “J” in Latin).
Yeshua (Hebrew) = Iesous (Greek) = Iesus (Latin) = Jesus (English)
More importantly, however, what does the name Jesus mean?
We are actually given the meaning of the name in the New Testament. The angel appearing to Joseph in the Gospel of Matthew said, “you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins” (Mt 1:21).
This explanation is based on the etymology of the name Yeshua, which is a combination of the words for God (YHWH) and salvation.
Jesus’s name means “God saves.”

Thank you so much for sharing this information ❤
In ancient Sanskrit texts there’s a word “Ishwara” which refers to the supreme being.
Hello, thank you I understood the teaching, but what was Jesus name in Aramaic? this was his mother tongue was it not? So, although the Bibles were written in Hebrew Greek and Latin, he must’ve had a name which was translated into those languages. I assume it meant the same thing I just wanted to check in about that.

Jesus means= yehoshua= meaning yahuah saves = which explains That God yahuah sent jesus christ his son to give his life on behalf of sinners to save the people of the world. (John 3:16) Messiah or christ means Anointed one( john 1:41), chosen one,Anointed by yahuah to be a king and a priest .AND ANTI CHRIST MEANS a person who do not accept christ bieng Anointed by his God yahuah to be a PRIEST and a KING on heavens and on Earth, ( Matthew 28: 18) (Ephesians 1:20,21) so Anti Christ takes the place of christ to be priest(bishop)or a king(ruler) on his place
Anti Christ does not believe in christs kingdom, so struggles to form earthly kingdoms.
Anti christ sacrifice animals on festivals that dishonour & show his disbelief to the SACRIFICE of christs body. ( Hebrew 10:1-4) ( 1Corinthians 10:20)
