Judging for any sport is RIDICULOUSLY difficult. I struggle to see stuff on the slowmo replay with a guy telling me what I'm about to see. In real time without any expectation? I'm always in awe of judges and refs (tho still eff the refs XP)
No, a fall is a fall, not going out of bounds. And they don’t just hate us, I’m a gymnast of 7 years and they don’t hate us it’s for the gymnasts safety and others. And the floor is a certain length, it’s basically like not landing a skill, and they have people standing outside of the line that if you go onto you can hurts them or yourself
I did gymnastics for ten years growing up i think A LOT has changed since then tho but my coaches acted like it was HUGE to go out of bounds! Lol My last meet was nationals in niagara falls i believe it was '02 n wow i miss it so much! I felt like it was a good meet to end it on tho Niagara falls was so cool n it just felt like a good ending point i guess🥰 watching gymnastics on tv/ internet makes me miss it so much tho!!
A friend of mine does professional gymnastics and was an out of bounds judge at an event for the youth, she told me that it was really scary because she just sat there on her chair while the athletes came really fast towards her and sometimes almost hit her
One of my favorite details from nastia winning the gold medal in 2008 is that landed and kept her heel up so that she would not go out of bounds. She was really having a moment of complete awareness and she was not giving away any tenth
Imagine they put a magnet metal into nailpolish and then put that on your toe nails to scan for the metal crossing. Looks fancy and is fairly reliable.
I've heard sports fans say they don't like sensors and replays because it slows down the game. Since gymnastics requires time for judging anyway, and going out of bounds doesn't stop the routine, I think this could be a really good place to apply the technology
Considering the evolution of gymnastics into basically just power tumbling, I feel like landing and out-of-bounds deductions need to get WAY more severe. I kinda miss watching gymnastics where the deletes actually struggle to maintain good execution.
Since bounds isn't as subjective a score criteria as other technique, I am surprised they don't use top down cameras for it. I know the body can cover it but that'd be an interesting aid. That or pressure sensitive materials outside the bounds with a tape that doesn't conduct/count it. Main questions here would be reliability for major events and durability given how much direct stress there is. Kinda why I prefer the idea of cameras or lasers.
2things- 1 in women’s gymnastics a fall is 0.5, im only a level 5 soo idk if that changes but fire me it’s 0.5 2nd- I don’t think we should do the tennis thing because sometimes we can use it to our advantage, my coaches always tell us to make sure we start in a good spot according to the judges angle, like for example, my back leg bends in my leap a lot so at practice I not only work on that but we figure out where to start according to where the judges are and if they can seee my back leg well enough to get the least tenths off possible
What if you dont hop, but just stick the landing perfectly even though you're out of bounds? Is it still a deduction because you didn't fit the routine in the line? Or is there no deduction?
The fact they need designated judges just to see if a gymnast is out or in just shows how hard judging is in gymnastics.
Makes me think about how precise the judges are the check for those ‘bobbles’

yeee, any kinda "performance" sport is hard af to judge, you gotta know the rules by heart
It's more about angles. From where the judge is it is going to be hard to see the lines clearly, especially while trying to watch the element as well.

Simone biles acting like nothing happened😂😂
Honestly with how much of a monster she is, small deductions like this are probably insignificant to her
She's gonna hit orbit, mark my words! ;)
@@bunbungabrielI completely agree but with how much of a perfectionist she is it probably messed up her mind set
she has to! her professionalism in all her routines is part of why shes so successful
She's so powerful it's crazy I think she's from another planet lol she just went flying off the whole damn floor lol she's incredible!!
Simone’s face when she goes out always makes me laugh
Simone went straight to the backrooms 💀💀
Simone biles didn't go out of bounds. She just left the whole floor and came back 😂
Simone Biles pretending she didn't go off the floor:
Just Simone being too powerful 😂💗
Also she didn’t even go out of bounds she left the floor apparatus 😂
By far the hardest sport
what bobble ….?????
tennis has sensors, but gymnastics doesnt?! that's crazy to me idk
Oh I never knew that. You’re right when you say many other sports take off a lot or it costs a lot when they step out of bounds or touch a line
I've always wondered about that 'out of bounds' rule, thanks for clarifying.
So then why, in my low level competitions, does stepping off the floor count as a fall??? Do they just hate us?

Thank you for explaining this!!
Love your videos by the way!! ❤❤

Imagine the judge saying " wait let me check the VAR
That makes sense, because landing the trick is more important.
Second I love ur videos, I’m a gymnast myself and you help me get my courage!

Simone is hilarious she as so much power she was completely off the mat and she was just like oops

In tennis you can go pretty much
anywhere as long as ball stays in
thanks for telling me
In France out of balance is a whole point
I have to say it...
GYAT 🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥
It’s not funny, it’s really offensive to gymnasts cause we are forced to wear those leotards and sexualising the sport is wrong
Is this a re-upload?
Appreciate the educational video. I enjoy watching gymnastics but I do not understand the scoring. Thanks!

"LET ME CHEAK VAR" said by some random gymnast
You didn’t go out of bounds

Think again when your a kid and it takes a whole point off.
U know what sucks I have a show on Thursday and I was practicing yesterday lost my balance doing a cart wheel and broke my ankle I’m only 10😭😭😭😭😭
Umm but what if we don't step or hop but land out of the bounds?
You have to go back into the bounds so you will step
@@Izzywa5here ok, Thanks
Feeling some dejavu
First! You inspire me sm!
Thank you for the info!
And falling all the way onto the line judge gets you........well yeah.

I think you'd want/need multiple cameras to get different angles of every part of the lines, because, like you said, the body gets in the way

from the thumbnail i thought you had really pale feet with no toes loll
And you lose the skill (and possibly the series,) if you land out of bounds with both feet.
woah this is really cool
In usag girls gymnastics stepping out with both feet is 1 point! I do gymnastics and love it so much
You kinda sound like the burger king foot lettuce guy.
If your arms or head go out of bounds, is a deduction taken?
No if it’s on the ground past the line. Above is ok!
I might be tempted to wave or shake my arms outside the lines at the judges during my routine then, lol, just for fun.😁
What if you dont hop, but just stick the landing perfectly even though you're out of bounds?
Is it still a deduction because you didn't fit the routine in the line? Or is there no deduction?
There is still a deduction, even if you land it. I’ve been doing gymnastics for 7 years.
But in woman’s gymnastics of fall is minus 0.5 tenths
I’m speaking about FIG
@@ianguntheroh ok
I never knew 😊
Honestly sensors are too much
Gymnastics isn't objective for the most part, but the more things that can be made objective the better.
Remember mens and womens gymnastics are two different sports so the rules are slightly different
What if you go out of the mat?
Still out of bounds
I know
Cool
What's the name of this game? 😊
