I absolutely love this take on Valhalla, it's accurate to mythology in that it's an endless training ground for fallen warriors to master themselves (normally training for Ragnarök)
But I love the idea that along with the physical training it focuses on mastery of the self and the final battlefield being the mind. It's just a beautiful way of incorporating therapy into God of War that's perfect for Kratos, it's almost a concentrated solution of the journey Kratos has been on since 2018.

It’s a shame you don’t know how to use the spear. It’s incredibly strong. Arguably the best and definitely my favorite. Not only the best ranged weapon, but powerful up close to. It has the best stagger so you’re constantly interrupting enemy attacks. Making sure you use the melee attacks that impale spears allows you to repeatedly attack, attack, detonate, repeat and your enemies will constantly be reeling backwards. Then the siphon gives you so much status versatility and allows you to resist the status you siphoned.

@@SomeGuy-mt4hq I think the similarity with the Macuahuitl is because of the sheer size of the fuppin' thing, and it's the last weapon similarity to make between
      - The dual blades (BoC and khopeshes)
      - The ice-powered weapon (the Nodachi)
      - And the Spear and Shield (Spear and Shield)
As for the Blade of Olympus, that one was used by Kratos in 2 (as a trick by Zeus) to absorb his godly powers as the God of War. It was wielded properly by Zeus, too, one of the biggest points of grievance for Kratos amongst all Greek gods. It's a pretty significant weapon for him due to the events in GOW 2 and 3.
So i don't think the OP meant that the macuahuitl is directly representative of a similar journey for Týr-- the closest thing to sacrifice he's doing with it is running his blade along the teeth. Just that the macuahuitl is the most direct analogue for the Blade of Olympus within Kratos' arsenal.

While his journeys before may have allowed him to overcome fate, it only opened his circle wide enough for Fey to fit in. I think a lot of people write it off cause the old games didn't focus enough on that complexity. A LOT of time was spent on viewing the violence and depravity he committed during his path through Greece using a glorifying lens, or glorifying gaze. And honestly, Kratos was apparently powerful enough that nothing could have stopped him long enough to make him question himself - at least not until it very abruptly started happening halfway through game three of what was, at the time, three games - when Pandora was introduced (though this only talking mainline games not 3DS games, etc).
In 1 and 2 especially, pain that happened to Kratos was seemingly framed as a way to enable more violence and depravity. Those old games made it very easy for anyone who didn't care to find Kratos' complexities to ignore them, and for anyone who didn't like the games to miss them. Anyone who liked and cared about the game would see them.
I guess I'm saying I don't necessarily blame people for missing it and for mistaking Kratos for an unfeeling ragemonkey.

Athena/minerva was tamed and docile being removed from the seat as a goddess of war and looked at with a female reverence being arts and crafts. She was replaced by bellona a pure goddess of war in the romans eyes. Hades/Pluto whilst being the god of the underwold also is the god of gems and riches. Etc etc the only one that doesn’t really change is apollo who somehow keeps his name the same. Ares/mars being the biggest change as Mars isnt some guy who loves endless carnage but he is the god strategy and war. Known to ensure the safety and revered very importantly in the roman legions. Hera/juno also is more than just the queen of olympus but another strategic planner and guide with omens.

    Mythology/language trivia:
14:32 The valkyrie Sigrun put a curse on Dagr for killing Helgi (Sigrun's lover). Dagr did so to avenge the brothers Helgi killed when he invaded Granmar's kingdom, slaying anyone who opposed his relationship with Sigrun (because Sigrun's father had promised her to the son of king Granmar).
17:17 Aegir ("Ocean") and Ran ("Robber") are two giants (jötnar) who personify the sea, and have nine daughters who personify waves. They dwell in a hall located in the deepest depths of the ocean, known as Aegirheim (Ran's domain is shared with her husband Aegir).
28:29 "Miklimunnr" means "big, loud mouth" in Old Norse (ín some sagas, it refers to a monster or mythical creature with a large mouth).
31:57 "Pass muster" means "be accepted as adequate or satisfactory; be good enough". It came from military usage, where "muster" means "an assembly of military personnel for inspection". During muster, soldiers and their equipment were evaluated to see if they were fit for combat, so passing muster meant they met the required standards for service.
40:08 "Dreyra" means "to bleed" in Icelandic.
41:52 "Heimta" means "to get, fetch, bring home, bring back" in Icelandic (Týr said it right before summoning his weapon).
58:05 "Eldingar drepa" means "lightining strike(s)" in Old Norse (it's what Modi says right before summoning a lightning bolt).
1:13:21 "Oluf" is a Danish form of "Olaf", from the Old Norse "Óláfr", meaning "ancestor's remnant". "Nautson" means "son of Naut".
1:31:22 Those curved blades are Egyptian sickle-shaped swords called khopesh.
1:33:27 "Myrkr" means "dark, murky" in Old Norse.
1:40:56, 2:18:36, 2:24:32 In Greek mythology, Pandora ("all gifts") was the first mortal woman, upon whom the gods bestowed their gifts (including beauty, charm, and curiosity). She was created to punish humanity after Prometheus stole the gift of fire from the gods. Zeus gave presented Pandora with a sealed jar (a pithos, often mistakenly called "Pandora's box"), which she open due to her curiosity, and thus released all of the evils inside it on humanity. The only thing that still remained inside was hope, since the lid was closed before it could escape ("hope" here is an open-ended aspect of the myth, since it's not even clear if it's a good or bad thing).
1:42:30 In Greek mythology, Minos was one of three judges of the dead (along with Rhadamanthus and Aeacus), giving the third and final vote. In life, Minos was a king of Crete and the proprietor of the labyrinth, which was designed by Daedalus to imprison the Minotaur (a half-man, half-bull creature born from Minos's wife's infidelity with a bull sent by Poseidon).
1:46:25 Draupnir was the self-replicating gold ring owned by Odin, and forged by the dwarven brothers Brokkr and Sindri.
1:54:02 "Þrymja Svipan" means "thunder swing/sweep" in Old Norse (referring to Magni's sword attack).
2:17:00 "Um-huxan" means "reflection" in Old Norse (Týr says it right before making a copy of himself).

I do love seeing Kratos acknowledge the changes he needs in his life and that though he chose to do both bad and good- in the end it was always a choice and he was always capable of *both*. To see a man to whom the idea of control is to never indulge, who's definition of being better was to reject all the bad and fight for good now realize that he also needs to make peace with the past in order become something better is such a BEAUTIFUL thing that I could have never expected from God of War of all things.
Kratos is honestly on one hell of a redemption arc, and this is a great example of one. What he did is not gone, the pain he has inflicted has effected both an entire nation and hurt his son by fostering doubt and fear. Yet he chooses to be better, any time something becomes a true danger he steps up to the plate, or steps back to let others have their space. It isn't as simple as: I did one good thing and died doing it so I'm redeemed, it is actively trying his best to do what is right, and that as Tyr put it- it's not as simple as one action; it is a constant journey and effort.
Honestly I hope God of War continues this mental health and family trauma direction. The fact that Tyr has been to Japan would be a great chance- be it as Tyr or as Kratos- to explore broken households. The Japanese gods are already fickle and extreme with little need for alteration, and the event that leads both to the murder of a baby and separation of what are essentially the parents of the Japanese pantheon could be a good allegory for both households broken by abuse and by simply no longer loving each other. They can even take showcase sibling trauma through sections with Atreus dealing with Amaturatsu and Susanoos constant fighting! Of course I'm also interested in the idea of an Egyptian based one- I just don't know that one very well.
