DIY Expanding and Collapsing Multipurpose Table and Storage for Sewing, Arts and Crafts

- In this video I solve an organization issue we were having with our sewing area. Sewing is one of those things that we don't do often enough to warrant its own formal sewing table but we did need somewhere that was easy to access when we needed to do a quick project. This table fits around a 3 drawer Sterilite container and has a top that expands for more work area when needed. All of the supplies and equipment (besides the sewing machine) are stored within the cabinet.
I used several new tools and techniques in this project which was really fun for me. Specifically, my Graco Paint Sprayer and the locking hinges were both firsts.
I think this table could be adapted for other arts and crafts so let me know in the comments if you're interested in plans and I will make some. You can find similar products for about $115 but why do that when you can build your own! Thanks so much for watching! I hope you found this useful and/or entertaining.

Wow nice work 👍👏👏👏
Thanks so much!! We still use this and the fold out top is great.
You're the first person I've seen use the Bob Smith CA glue and activator. Best bang for you buck in my neck of the woods. Just discovered your channel, keep up the good work!
Thanks so much Scott! Ha yeah I have used the Bob Smith stuff for a while. I actually just ordered a bunch of Starbond products so looking forward to comparing the two.
@@RLLWoodworks the only other stuff I've tried is the Instant Bond product. I like the aerosol can, but it runs out faster than expected. The BSI stuff doesn't seem any different in my experience.
Dude - awesome build with so many pro-tips, great stuff!
Thanks Seth!! Appreciate you watching man!
nice job Rory. love the extra storage features.
Thanks Austin!! Appreciate you watching man. Can never have enough storage.
Great job! I like the CA glue tip! I'll have to remember that one.
Thanks man!! Yeah I find myself using CA glue for a million little things during projects. Favorite tool in the shop.
Super thoughtful and cool design - great solution!
Thanks Ethan! Made a big difference to that little corner for sure.
This is brilliant
Thank you!! I have found it to be useful for my cricut and supplies as well!
Awesome design mate.
Thanks so much man!
this looks so cool! wish I could do it ( i have never used tools, so I can't but still, future dreams :) )
Thank you so much!! I hope you get into woodworking, it’s a really fun hobby!
Good Job, I have to admit I really like your videos. We have a good feeling when we see you work and hear you speak behind the scene. It's not my place to say, BUT.: I just have 1 small suggestion that I can guarantee would bring a lot more people to your channel. Add your dimensions to everything you do step by step and I tell you, you'll attract a lot more people. Because you're good at what you do, especially when speaking to DIYers like me. And really, the way you speak and act is pleasant. So think about it. It might help! Good Job Thought!
Thanks so much for the comment and feedback! When you say dimensions, you mean like the actual specs of the piece I’m working with? Like L, W and/or H?
@@RLLWoodworks Yes: Simply by adding the spects of your work, will appeal a lot to your viewers. What kind of wood you use, The size of your boards, Your cut sizes, the Size and Width of each board or pieces the thickness or the wood you use, etc. Just add the specs of your work, It'll make a hell of a lot of difference to your viewers. It's just a suggestion! Thanks Good Luck. Thumbs Up!
Sounds good thanks Stephan! Appreciate the feedback.
Nice work my friend 💪
Thanks so much! Appreciate that.
Any way we could get access to the plans for this? I need to make about 3 of them!
Looks good. Did you create the plans as you mentioned int video?
Thanks!! I didn’t but I do have measurements. If you’re interested send me an email rllwoodworks@gmail.com
One of these would be great for must Silhouette. Would I be able to get the dimensions please?
Yes of course!
Fixed Top: 24.5” wide x 21” deep
Sides (both right and left): 28” tall x 20” wide
Front door: 27.5” tall x 24” wide
Flip Top: 24.5” wide x 21” deep
Note: these are the final dimensions so if you use solid wood to hide the plies of the plywood like I did, you will want to subtract the thickness of that solid wood from these measurements. The solid wood I used was about 5/8” thick. The reason I did this was so I could get the plywood cut at the hardware store perfectly in half to 24” (actually just under to account for the thickness of the blade).
Thank you
Did you ever do plans ?
I have made them before but never did for this project. I would be happy to share the dimensions and materials for this project if you’d like.
@@RLLWoodworks that would be amazing if you did . I've been looking for something simple to make. you and make it look easy even tho I know it was a lot of work.
Awesome! I’ll put something together and send it early next week. Shoot me and email at rllwoodworks@gmail.com and let me know where to send it.
Did you end up making plans?
I didn’t but I have some info related to dimensions if you’d like. Shoot me your email and I’ll send them.
