Here we go again... How is everyone feeling about this first look??
They made Celebrimbor look like a fool, a trick, dare I say a mark ass trick. We all know that he pissed Saur Saur off so bad that he made him his banner..that's a hell of a symbol for the "great deceiver "
Ps (fart noise) on this non Tolkien Tolkien show lolol Manwe help us all
My expectations are still very low.
Still not watching it. I am looking forward to watching your review of each episode. đ
Trash
I'm sure the comments will be perfectly civil
Probably until weâve seen the first parts.
They're highly entertaining
I'm taking the under on that bet.
They shouldnt be. All evil requires is good men to do nothing

Clark Kent takes off glasses.
I thought the same thing when I saw the trailer đ€Ł.
This wig and ears disguise could work if we see his reflection, and he's a completely different person. As if it's for the audience's benefit that we can see it's Halbrand/Sauron, but they make it clear that he appears differently to others.
I had the same thought. Would like this.
Iâd love this.
They better do that otherwise the elves would be portrayed as incredibly stupid
Really hoping thatâs what happens now
@@LuisArcadia641 The elves are already being portrayed as incredibly stupid.
i liked when sauron said: "it's forgin' time."
reddit humor
@@OldBurnzy yeah... was a subreddit mod since about six months ago :)
I have a feeling that itâs only us as the audience who still see Charlie Vickers, whereas everyone in-universe sees someone else. Probably to make Sauron more recognisable to us.
Exactly.
@@AJ-gt6ts you didn't get his point.
That's an insult to the intelligence of the viewers, honestly. As if we are too dull to understand that Sauron can change shapes and have a different face, so they will change his face back so our little brains can comprehend what is going on.
â@@frankvandorp9732Clark Kent takes off glasses
@@frankvandorp9732 or maybe they assume that many of their viewers are sophisticated enough to realize Sauron has changed shape in the story, without having to change the actor. I like Charlie Vickers as Sauron and Iâm not sure I would want another actor suddenly taking up that role just because Sauron is supposed to look different.
Brace yourselves for the ever exciting slow motion scenes
Iâll keep my hopes low for season 2.
My hopes are really really high for youtube content about the show. T'was great.
Why? You sound like a battered wife
it'll be trash
It will be Mariana's trench high

Season 3: The war between numenor and Sauron
Season 4: The fall of numenor
Season 5: The war of the last aliance
Eregion wasnât "sacked" it was destroyed.
@@gilgamesh8334 Tolkien himself names it "The Sack of Eregion"
Yep!
I didn't know eregion's đđ had an entire season about them.
Season 6 galadriel joins the expendables and destroys Hogwarts by using the force
"But they were all of them deceived for another WIG was made. For in the lands of Modor Sauron crafted his master WIG. One WIG to fool them all, one WIG to blind them, one WIG to fool them twice and in the Darkness bind them." JRRT
He'll probably be wearing glasses and a false moustache when he hands the rings out to the nine men.
I hope the snowy region is Mount Gundabad
That was my first guess as wellđ€·
Exactly what I was thinking since Gundabad was taken mid-second age and it would fit the timeline + itâs well known by the fans because of the Hobbit movies
No, that prob a flashback of fortress we saw Galadriel exploring at the begining of S1 in the north.
We're jumping off the bridge of Khazad-dum with this one.
Yup. We all want to at this point. But in amazons weird standards itâs a leap upwards from season 1 soooo⊠at least itâs not completely horrid. We need to see more to be able to determine just how long they can handle this without ruining anything good they ever do seconds or minutes laterâŠ
I wish the music wasn't making me feel like we're in a dystopian sci-fi thriller.
Yeah they miss the mark completely you can tell itâs not made by Tolkien fans.
It's so mediocre, very disappointing.

@@roskelld I donât know if you meant to do this or not, but try translating your dum dum comment into English. Perfect!! đ đ
There is no way season 2 can be solid being built on the broken foundation of season 1.
They shouldnât even be calling him Sauron as he was either remembered energetically as Gorthaur or Mairon. Sauron is a cursed name by the elves that duals as an insult too
That ratio proves what the fans think.
I like th idea of nameless things being in a series, that would be unique and great potential for aetistic designs.
Would be fun secret bosses in a video game also.
When Gandalf is chasing the Balrog I believe they go first through tunnels dug by the nameless things and then into the tunnels dug by the dwarves, right? So the dwarves of Khazad-dûm must have met them at some point. I think it's cool to see an interpretation of those things here.
No no nameless things are so rare and deep that even dwarves havent seen them only gandalf and balrog but the tunnels were made during the deathless era so maybe dug by dwarves but no dwarves know about them as far as i know!
Other than watcher if you consider him one of the nameless things.
Well, it could've really look any worse than season 1 could it?
As 60% of its audience, not making it to the end of the season can attest to.
Yep. And famously season one forced people to watch the episodes again when they tried to exist and other strange things so theyâd get double views. And Amazon paid to turn a top ten show list to a top 15 and ROP canât even hit 15th. Amazon is becoming a laughing stock. Good I say
It's no bad thing to hope that they will honor Tolkien's works.
Am I the only one noticing at the ''Avengers hero'' shot in the trailer where theyre getting ready to fight, Theres humanoid creatures in the backround with Blue Glowing Eyes? Maybe ghosts of some kind? 2:11 - 2:35
Iâm thinking wraiths or something similar, maybe even barrow-wraiths because of the eyes
Maybe they're vampires.
More plagiarism will come around the corner
ââ@@darymarkovafor sure barrow wraiths
Do you notice Elrond face reaction? All of them looks like theyâve experience except Elrond. Pretty sure this season gonna be worse than last oneđ
Still donât know why theyâre calling him Sauron (which they gave him a cursed name in elvish meaning deceiver AFTERWARDS), yet they abandoned the Annatar plot line from day one and did halbrand for no reason, they could have had him looking like this the entire time by default? In season oneâŠ. If we donât get ancient wise powerful Galadriel in season 2 what the point ?
A possibility is that the Annatar scenes possibly could be a flashback to a time before Halbrand, at which point once the rings were forged or around that time the show could eee he changed form again to Halbrand. Not saying I agree but could be.
Possibly. But how does that explain the scene where he is there and Celebrimborâs hand is chopped off? Also why as Celebrimbor still so far from rings by the time Halbrand arrived?
ââ@@TheJmlew11Yes đŻ correct. It could be both though, he must have planted the false stories and sicknesses before and the fighting and Celebrimbor scenes must be after. Meaning, that he's coming and going as he pleases, even though Galadriel now knows
What would be the point? The entire idea behind Annatar is that that is the form he used to work with Celebrimbor to create the Rings, but we already saw Halbrand do that in season 1. We saw Celebrimbor come up with the idea of rings in season 1. So what is there left for Annatar to do?
If they had recast Sauron there would be all the same complaints. People would call it confusing and hard to follow and say that the preferred the other guy.
Should've put the same actor in blackface to really piss everyone off
I do agree they shouldâve cast more actors to show how he is a shapeshifter.
@@selenemarin7994 people would have complained if they had
@@jacobdenness8659 yeah but I rather have them complain about something thatâs lore accurate so you could see their complain is based on nothing.
i think the sludge thing is the form of sauron true - as he transforms
circle of elves - the enemies look like undead...or ghosts...barrow wights?
moths - linked to the strangers in series1
i think vickers looks great....the fact that only galadriel knew who he was and shes not about means no one will make the conection.
end scene with the ice.... exactly the same ice castle in the first series. so almost 100% the same and a flash back in my mind
I believe the sludge is the sickness of the trees that was conjured up by Sauron to make them believe all the lies. It could be part of himself though, not just magic trick. Time will tell
The moment Sauron flicks his hands, it could be possible he switches to his armored form like in the prologue of Fellowship of the Ring. Also, the snowy area is most likely Utumno in the Forodwaiths.
You missed where - when sauron is surrounded, he turns his hands and watch the elves in the back - they kill the other/themselves
Yesss it was such a nice little detail, you can tell heâs gonna take their minds and turn them against each other, typical move
teasers/trailers annoy me. they are nothing but big production shorts that are cut in such away that they make you think something is going to happen, then it never does
Itâs great that theyâve made Celebrimbor lose his hand. Itâs no secret that Tolkien based Celebrimbor on Nudd Llaw Ereint, the silver-smith god of Welsh mythology and the Mabinogion (equivalent to Irish Nuada and Romano-British Nodens), specifically off the portray of the God at the Romano-British shrine at Lydny Park (Lydny is a corruption of Lludd Llaw Ereint, which itself was a metathesis of Nudd Llaw Ereint).
Nudd or Lludd famously lost his hand and replaced it with a silver one (just like Nuada Argatlam lost an arm and replaced it with a silver one). The shrine has connections to Tolkienâs ideas about the Ring, Moria, and the friendship of Elves and Dwarves in Eregion.
So I would expect to see a Silver-fisted Celebrimbor later in the season to match the meaning of his name!
I donât think he actually lost it. Maedhros did though. And he got a wonderful golden one to wear overtop of where the hand and rest of arm used to be. And it had a wondrous curved blade attached to it too
I feel they are doing a soft reboot
More like a soft stool.
I wanna see Sauron feed Adar toâŠ

After weeks of exams I feel much better after seeing this trailer and emptying my sarcasm tank. Now I feel relieved and I can go back to studying
I feel like the tower at the end of this teaser could be the same one seen up north at the very beginning of Season 1. If so it could be going into Sauronâs past and showing how he marked Galadrielâs brother to ending on the raft.
The snowy tower is probably the tower from the start of ep 1 from s1, where Sauron conducted his experiments. The scene we see here is probably a flshback to when Adar betrays Sauron and the explotion is caused by the disruption of the experiment and Saurons physical forms destruction.
I enjoyed rings of power enough to watch it a second time. After seeing the trailer for this, I think it will be decently improved on top of that :-).
Also thought the black slime was Venom crossing universes
Celebrimbor meets the Necromancer
"In David Day's A Tolkien Bestiary, the Watcher in the Water is described as a great kraken, being an ancient and terrible creature that was bred by Morgoth in Utumno before Varda rekindled the Stars."
Sounds legit. But the nameless things existed even before the entering of the sun or into EĂ€âŠ
Wow! Didja see that orc taunting his foe by licking blood from a knife! So cool! HOW'd they EVER think of THAT??
Lurtz. More plagiarism around the corner folks
The Uruk-hai did it better.
@@therestingrancor8259 LOL, the rule of thumb for EVERY scene these lazy-ass derivative chuckleheads lifted from PJ's majestic trilogy!
the circle shot does make total sense for me, because if you look closely in the background, you can see glowing eyes. Those eyeys probably belong to barrow wights. (At least someone else thought that this might be the case) So it would actually make total sense to shoot this scene like this to show that the elves are surrounded by the barrow wights.
I think it looks cool and I'm super excited!
Looking forward to the second season â€
Season 1 plot: Gilgaladriel is now some warrior boss queen who forgot she was married and falls in love with a human Sauron while on vacation in Numenor, a never existed black elf (soon to be extinct apparently) searches for a sword that turns out to be Hanâs missing detonator that turns the shire into Mordor by way of Pompei. Sauron proposes to the married elf but vows to destroy the planet after getting rejected and the show wraps up with the lollipop kids still wandering the woods saying they wonât leave anyone behind but then do so cause they ainât got time for amnesia Dumbledore⊠Yâall really think S2 is going to be better? Word!
Guyladriel the commander of the northern 3rd wave feminazis. Sheâs not the real Artanis/Galadriel thatâs older than the sun and moon, who Annatar/Gorthaur/Sauron Mairon feared the most. Even the NazgĂ»l Woolf avoid her realm and opt to travel for hundreds of miles extra to just go around said area to avoid being too close to her vicinity.
The snowy region very likely has nothing to do with Annatar at the forge. Itâs a trailer-scenes placed together likely wonât be together in the final product.
It looks like avengers only somehow worse?
It's really weird that the actor playing the Elf Sauron is the same as the human version, I hope these scenes are from after they figure out he's been there all along, and before that, it's another actor that they haven't disclosed yet.
One wig to rule them all, one wig to bind them , one wig to disguise them.
Perhaps the logic regarding Annatar is this: we (the audience) know who he is, but by using the same actor/face, we're showing you the power of Sauron to fully deceive the elves...so much so that he can appear as 'elf' and not be noticed. Other thought is that Sauron invades Celebrimbor's brain (Inception/Dark Lord occlumency style) and makes him believe that he can make more rings and then control those people groups with the elven rings... (which would be a silly & possibly useless twist on what Sauron's plan is anyway).
Like you, I feel it's that storyline that really needs a major form of redemption in this season. We shall see what comes...
what will be the 2 battles? i only know about the battle at Eregion
I have experience in archery.
Look where the point of the arrow is at 8:17
It's on the wrong side of the bow.
When the archer is right handed, the bow has to be held on the left hand, and the arrow has to be shot on the right side of the bow.
That's how I was trained in Japanese archery (Kyujutsu) and the English long bow. Unless this is some technique I have not heard of, do correct me if I'm wrong.
So excited! I loved season 1 and am happy for more middle earth!
It could be possible that we (the audience) see Sauron as Charlie Vickers but who everyone else sees in the story is another face - this would be very smart. Hopefully that is what they do because that would be awesome, showing the ability of Sauron as a shapeshifter and how powerful he is.
Hoping thatâs the case as well
The Castle is The same Castle that galadriel visited in season 1. Its a flashback scene with Adar and Sauron
02:35 how on earth could you think a simple revolving shot is a negative thing... Jesus
My first thought was that the black ooze thing was the Balrog after it fought Galdalf and fell into the underground lake - "a thing of slime, stronger than a strangling snake."
The rings of power takes place years and years before the events of the lord of the rings trilogy
yeah no, the battle between gandalf and the balrog does not happen for another few thousand years. the show is set in the second age, the lord of the rings is set in the third age.
The black ooze is going to be the sickness that affected the tree in Lindon, conjured up by Sauron to force them to believe the story that they're dying, so that they make the Rings of Power and he can "bind them in darkness"
Annatar will magically restore Celebrimbor's hand, regaining his trust. I would make a wager on it.
Thatâd make the show even more dumb and anti Tolkien. Annatar could forge him a new hand and itâd make it a tad better but itâs only going to get better if they scrap season one and continue as if it didnât happen for the most part and start honouring Tolkien instead. It works every time.
Like Voldemort? Lol
That fortress looks very similar to mount gundabad.
There was a different actor for Annatar. It was an Indian guy. When Amazon revealed it, there was a backlash, Amazon withdrew it. Then Dictor Van Doomcock revealed that they had to do some "reshooting". That is most likely why there was no trailer for Rings of Power during the superbowl earlier this year. The dates coincide.
I don't know about you but I prefer this actor to play Annatar at this point. A familiar face is better than another miscast. Lol
I'm guessing the black ooze is physical representation of evil essence coalescing in Mordor being summoned by Sauron who is getting ready to be the Big Bad etc..
It really doesn't matter if it is good. It is too late
Is it really still same actor? I am looking on my phone
Anyone here I am searching for answer to the missing 4 nazguls đ đ . Where did they go ?
There was a subtle sign of Cirdan, in that there were 3 hands with elven rings and Cirdan should be one of them.
Aren't the drwaven rings suppose to be without jewels?
Nah only the one ring is plain, the other 19 have some sort of jewels on them
Ok, I think I remember that now, I would have to read the books again
@@joshuajohansen1210audiobook. Phil Dragash version brings everything and everyone to life !
@@joshuajohansen1210 yeah Iâm pretty sure the 19 had jewels and the One Ring and lesser rings made by the elves were plain, thatâs why Gandalf wasnât sure if Bilbo found the one or just a lesser ring
Siege of Eregion possibly? I think keeping Charlie Vickers is just a creative choice. You could have his shapeshifting be a core part of the character where anyone could be Sauron, but theyâve decided itâs better we invest in this actorâs portrayal. I donât think theyâre trying to portray him as looking the same, just with hair and ears, itâs just we the audience see that itâs still âSauronâ but characters in the show will see someone different. Itâs just a different way of portraying a shapeshifter.
You keep making the point that he's the same actor, everyone will recognize him, however; Gandalf basically tells gimli that Saruman can look to him however he wants to appear. Sauron is way more powerful than Saruman. It doesn't matter if he walks around without a costume. If he wanted to remain hidden he would.
Why does Galadriel look so angry like sheesh
Guyladriel the commander of the northern 3rd wave feminazis. Sheâs not the real Artanis/Galadriel thatâs older than the sun and moon and who Annatar/Gorthaur/Sauron Mairon feared the most. Even the NazgĂ»l Woolf avoid her realm and opt to travel for hundreds of miles extra to just go around said area to avoid being too close to her vicinity.
3:05 This is clearly the witches returning to Rune (or wherever). I remember those dirty fingernails anywhere. When (not Gandalf) vanquished them they turned into moths and flew away. I think this is them returning home and assuming their form again.
Creating a context between consecutive scenes in the teaser setup may lead to misconceptions about the scenario. So I don't think there's a relationship between the scene where Durin IV is speaking and what's going on. That thing could possibly be a depiction of the incarnation of Sauron trying to infiltrate or incarnate into Lindon for the purpose of manipulating the elves.
Well if Amazon canât show the dwarves being immune to the rings power due to their forefathers vein created by the hands of AulĂ« the smith himself and main architect of most of the world next to OromĂ« ent Melkor. Life breathed into them by Eru Ăźlluvatar as theyâd awaken later on! Such lovely stories are probably going to get ignored all together when all the little things matter. If people are skipping the poetry and songs in the book then theyâll be missing ALOT. â€
Let the raspberryfest begin. Maybe Galadriel will start snarling at the fans again. And then there's the narcissistic dwarf woman.
The sandstorm frame character doesn't seem to have shoes so you just might be correct about it being a harfoot
I think it looks good. I am very excited.
Just think of Sauron's character likened to that of Kent Clark and Superman, no one in the "audience" believes the superficial addition of glasses disguises him, but that's part of the tongue-in-cheek tendancy of this genre of movies.
It looks so good I cant wait!
As far the Halbrand/Anatar looks similar it's meant to for it's our point of view. Superman put on a pair of glasses and combed his hair different and that was ok.
Long blonde hair? I doubt heâd present himself as a Vanyar elf as Galadriel is mostly Vanyar herself of the Calaquendi. So sheâd know even faster that Annatar is totally not something to treat with. Ever. And she made sure it spread that this character is not to be treated nor allowed in your areas etc etc. Vanyar are a super close knit and very powerful clan that have earned the position of right hands of the Valar. Those who learned from and communed with the Valar upon the mountain where doom(fates) are to be studied and decided. They often could see Maiar and Valar a lot easier then other elves for various reasons. The ainur reside fully in the unseen realm and are not walking around Valinor every day.
I assume that the whole Charlie Vickers makeup thing is to help viewers realise that it is still Sauron, as Amazon assume that some people watching aren't that clever!
Season 1 did not leave me with confidence, no matter how much I want to love this. The trailer looks good and more exciting than the first season, but trailers can make anything look exactly how they want. I will wish for this to be good, amazing even, but they really need to show that for me to have hope for the future.
How this trailer is generally received is probably been clouded by the fact HOTD dropped a new one within a couple hours after it.

Wouldn't Cirdan be seen (maybe more of a tease) in the shot with Galadriel and Gil-Galad holding out their hands showing the rings? The red one looks like Narya and Cirdan did have it before giving it to Gandalf.
It looks like what I was expecting from season one. Whether that is good or bad I wonât know until the season premieres.
I am happy this show is back, my only wish is that I would get S2 of Andor as well releasing episodes so I can alternate.
Gandalf doesn't (and won't) exist in the Second Age for the Rings of Power - The Stranger is one of the Blue Wizards as the story continues with the Easterlings and Southrons. We will probably also discover the Second of the Blue Wizards as well.
An Amazon production with wigs FROM Amazon
Yeah I hope itâs they have us see itâs him but everyone else sees him as another person
2.39 - almost looks like Elrond and Galadriel will be fight wraiths ? Shadowy figures in background
That wouldnât make sense for it to be any ring wraiths yet. But yeahâŠ
Enjoying reading some of the wig jokes but I think that might just be Sauron revealing himself to Celebrimbor after he fooled him as Annatar (and/or as Halbrand). By the time of the sack of Eregion, Sauron's not trying to fool anyone anymore. I'm still hoping Sauron as Annatar will be played by an other actor. If this trailer's Sauron look is Sauron's default/revealed look going forward, I think that would be fine.
Annatar presence is redundant by now and for some reasons he reminds me Alex from Clockwork orange
He would be perfect for a Young Palpatine though
It could easily be Angmar and Carn Dûm given their looseness with the 2nd & 3rd Age events - such as the arrival of Gandalf.
Why in the heck would the Maiar spirit eagles be supporting and backing The KingsMen with Ar PharazĂŽn? Why did we never see his childhood friend who grew up to be what became the he faithful path. The original template for nĂșmenorean ways etc. no Erendis and her mariner husband? This is why you should react to and shout out the episodes of ROP remade designed and funded by his own self at Council of the rings I believe is the name. I know itâs not tales of the rings which does awesome Tolkien content they brings to life in ways never before seen! Fully voice acted, fully illustrated. Following how you could actually do an ROP series and make it WORK. Know the one of which I speak?
didn't the great eagles leave Numenor centuries, maybe even thousands of years before Ar Pharazons time?
Here we go again
2:00 - The black goo is Venom. Amazon are proud to announce the cross-over between Middle Earth and the Marvel Universe that nobody wanted.
Visually it looks amazing and it's interesting to see what all that money gets you so I'll watch it. It'll never be "my" Middle Earth though, not with that Galadriel. I'll try to enjoy it for what it is and it COULD be a really good show from now on... but it can never be canon among the Tolkien cinematic universe for me.
đWow! That could mean Spidey mates with Shelob! Yes, my all-time dream may be nigh at last! đ€Ł
One thing I'm actually looking forward to are the reviews by Heel vs babyface. They are funny as hell. đ
My only thought is maybe some of the Annatar scenes are set before the events of season 1. Then he shapeshifts into a human because he wanted to go to Numenor where a human would be more positively received than an elf. It is sorta the only thing i can think of that make some sense. I do hope they don't rehash the story of "who is Sauron? Where is he?" Again. I'm fine with some dramatic irony where the audience sees his plan unfold and knows who he is and the characters are trying to figure out what is going on. But i don't want us guessing and wondering who he is again. Not that it was much of a mystery
Mmm maybe Iâm just not observant but I had NO clue that was Charlie Vickers lol
It's as if the show writers think Stan Lee wrote The Lord of the Rings.
The trailer honestly looked really good. Far better than season 1 at least
The Criticaldrinker nailed his critique
Iâm really hoping they step up this season and deliver. Because I thought it looked actually pretty good. But itâs all about the story
