- While I don't cover a ton of production rumors, the new collection of potential Rings of Power Season 2 plot points were too wild to ignore. Here's my free-flowing thoughts as I read through the list...

What do YOU think of these rumors? Some of these are just....yikes. Do you think any are true? Which do you like/dislike? Let me know if you think I should cover any in greater depth too!
Each of these need their own video
Yes bro screw the haters u gotta cover rings of power its only right my guy!!
NNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The buffoons at Amazon are going to continue to piss on Tolkien's work all throughout season 2 - a pox on them, the swine
I feel like they’re taking the one line that says Sauron claimed himself as the king over all men and turning it into a season. Which could be cool and solidify him as a baddy.
To the point about Sauron having a son, I feel like I’m going to be like Gabe in that episode of the office where he yells, “Shut up about the sun” when it comes to that specific plot line. 😂
Conspiracy; the show is leaking a bunch of fake terrible things so that when the show comes out we collectively say “well… at least Tom Bombadil wasn’t Morgoth…” 🤣
5-D Marketing Chess
Actually I have seen insane leaks from other shows coming out that were way off base fairly frequently.
I thought maybe they're leaking their crazy ideas to see what our reactions would be so they can adjust their scripts accordingly, with some obvious bunk thrown in to throw us off
They are cleary not smart enough for that.
This is, strangely, the most logical explanation I can imagine.
The wildest rumor would be that it was going to be good.
I think that ship has sailed
Nailed it!
Lol
Best comment of 2024 already lol
😂😂
Then Morgoth laughed, and he said: "Death-death-a-dillo, you may yet crave, hey dol the derry dol, from me as a boon."
JFC my sides
Exactly what I was thinking but with a different rhyme.
Goldberry being Ungoliant is the craziest thing I've heard this year so far.
Ungoldberry!
I think as crazy as it is, Bombadil being Morgoth is even worse. Couple that with Gandalf almost being swayed by Morgoth as another spoiler, are we to take this to mean:
Gandalf helped substantially with destroying the Ring to eliminate Sauron, then afterward visits with Morgoth/Bombadil for 2 years (perhaps to plot Morgoth’s return? Because he really was corrupted but was just REALLY good at hiding it?) So Gandalf ushers in the unwritten Apocalypse???
Ludicrous.
It was the craziest thing i had heard until i heard Tom Bombadil as Morgoth.
...... what....
If they really had the rights to Silmarillion they'd know ungoliant devoured herself out of hunger at the edge of the world but noooooo... let's take the most loved minor characters from LotR and make them villains for no reason
Morgoth: *Commits countless of evil atrocities, including having the two trees destroyed, enslavement, torturing and cursing a mans entire family, destroying several kingdoms, waging wars against the people of Beleriand, jewelry-theft and other evil dark lord-stuff*
Eru and the Valar after finally catching him: "His punishment? Oh, just give him a cozy cottage in the woods were he can live forever jolly with his wife, singing the days away, that'll teach him."
Maybe the punishment is his wife, since he's got PTSD from ungoliant swallowing the silmarils
I wonder how NotR feels knowing one of his primary supporters from the start, TomDaBombadil19, is actually Morgoth?!
Like a guy that burned babies in villages during the Vietnam war coming back and being a hippie.
The worst part about this rumours list is how we can believe Amazon would actually do them
and amazon leaked the information itself as an effort to gauge interest in certain topics
This is exactly what I thought. The worst is that, after seeing season one we all think it can be true.
Can we? To be honest 90% of these are absurd and not believable that any show that's getting input from the Estate would even remotely pursue.
Idk man, I’d say there’s almost a zero percent chance that they’ll make Morgoth be Tom Bombadil lmao
Boy, that’s the truth! I still haven’t gotten thru season one of ROP. Betrayal of the spirit of Tolkien and his spirituality.
The whole "Melkor as Bombadil" thing makes me think whoever "leaked" this is taking the piss, at least a bit.
Like a golfer saying they shot a 51 on a 72...or a fisherman saying they caught a 4000lb bass?
Bombadil and Goldberry being Morgoth and Ungoliant is such a bonkers change. I actually want them to do it. Go hog wild. Make the biggest mess out of it possible so we can all point to it and say "none of that counts, ignore it"
Especially if you recall Gandalf visits with Bombadil for 2 years after the Ring is destroyed…are we to believe he consorted with Morgoth right after destroying Sauron?
So going hog wild would be something like: Gandalf was actually swayed by Morgoth, but Sauron was in the way. Gandalf played a crucial role in destroying Sauron, then consorted with Bombadil/Morgoth for 2 years after, presumably to usher in the Middle Earth Apocalypse??
It reminds me of that movie Santa's Slay where Santa is actually a demon who lost a bet with an angel and was forced to be good to people for 1000 years
You guys wasting your time. Rop is nothing but a twisted mind of a minority who want to twist and corrupt something incredible. Entertaining it is madness.
Frodo: Who is Tom Bombadil?
Goldberry: B L A C K H E A R T
@@mrsamtheman80 All this time, Gandalf wanted to remove Sauron that HE could be Morgoth´s 2nd in command.
That bit with Tom Bombadil being Melkor made me laugh so hard! 🤣 It sounds like a SNL skit!
omg, it really does.
SNL...Sauron Nerds out Lorien...😱
Same, i was taking a sip of water when he read this part, now I have water all over my screen xD What on earth are they smoking in Amazon studios!
It's so good. S tier trolling by whoever wrote this "leak". I love it.
Haha
Tom Bombadil is Morgoth is the wildest fanfic, so wild I've never heard of it in any discussion
Same. lmao
Now you know where the “bad” in Bombadil comes from. 😂
At this point I wouldn't be surprise if they announce Jack Black as Tom Bombadil dressed as a leprechaun secretly hiding he is the dark lord but forced to be overly happy and to talk only with doudlidi doudlida sentences!
Agreed. Especially since Tom was there before Melkor or any of the fallen maiar ever entered Middle Earth, and before any of the elves travelled west (before the first age).
I mean why not. Who cares anymore. lol Let him be Bombadil and make up songs for Goldberry. And have Goldberry be played by Cate Blanchett just to blow peoples minds.
Tom Bombadil and Goldberry actually being Morgoth and Ungoliant would be one of the wildest things ever done in an adaptation of anything lol
I'd cry nonstop and then laugh and then cry again, and then laugh.
When you make Being John Malkovic seem like a totally normal movie.
You mean fan fiction?
I really like this guy! He gives a detailed, mature, thoughtful reaction no matter how outrageous the show runner's ideas may be. He promotes kindness at the end of the video, encouraging everyone to be nicer to each other in the comment section
He knows the lore and he knows how to deliver high quality content. Just a good guy all around! And once again, great video!
Why should we be kind to cultural vandals? Amazon spent a lot of money to insult Tolkien fans. It is not unreasonable to treat people with the same disrespect they have shown to you.
@@stevenstehlingit’s not yours to whine about. Get a grip. The emotional overreacting to it was worse that the lore changes. I guarantee Tolkien would tell y’all to stfu and go touch grass, too.
Seeing your internal meltdown slowly getting worse after each point is hilarious and painful at the same time. Lucky for us we have our episode of true lore every week. Keep up the good work!
Somehow Palp... Melkor returned...
lol!
ok but what if the "sauron had a kid" thing ends up being like how rey was related to palpatine 😭 and then it turns out that sauron's kid ISNT dead and then they're the new protagonist of the show. 🙃
@@peachiesophie in a galaxy far far away.

I hate to think they are continuing to go down the “Galadriel and Sauron flirt” by having him impersonate Celeborn. She’s such a great character and they just keep making her less wise and less powerful. I don’t get it.
These are only rumors also she rejected him
@@Ayavik Galadriel was never a romantic interest of Sauron. She is also very tall, not a midget that is below the shoulders of men.
@@stevenstehling Sauron was a seducer but its not romantic at all, its power he offers her.....its a blurred line but deep down he views Galadriel as a means to an end. Also to be A queen not his queen .
@@Ayavik None of what you've just described has anything to do with Galadriel or Sauron. The nonsense in a knock-off that uses the names of Tolkien's characters is irrelevant. None of the garbage in Amazon's show is part of the story of characters created by Tolkien.

What are they doing to my man Tolkien dawg 💀
Desecration, heresy, and sacrilege - which a few hundred years ago would be punishable by death...but here we are.
The big problem I felt watching the Series is that it didn't feel like a "love letter" of Tolkien's mythology. I did not feel the "spirit" and essence of the work, regardless of whether it is the appendix or the "main" work.
I think they needed to adapt the "concept", even if they didn't respect the chronology of the timeline. Personally, I think that Peter Jackson's adaptation lacks in many aspects of Lore, but he knew how to adapt the emotion, adventure, friendship of the characters, courage, sacrifice, etc.
Yes, i think you Hit the nail on the Head. I personally refuse to even watch any second of that series, I did decide that after seeing I think the first half of episode 1 and it just was bad. If someone likes the series that is fair play but for me it's just a fanfiction gone bad.
It was more a love letter to the jackson movies.
@cklambo you can't be serious on that mate. For all the lore difference between the films and books this series is like what the last jedi is to the Empire Strikes back in the Star wars universe
Underrated comment.
@@urizen2000 thx Mate
I do wish gandalf (in season 1) had been one of the blue wizards. It would have been their first appearence, given the writers a bunch of freedom with them and been a nice nod to the lore that the blues were first searching for saurons/Melkors influence in the world. Also bombadil better not be morgoth, that would be awful.
It's still not confirmed it was gandalf
Blue wizard is really the only correct answer, and I am not confident Amazon will get it correct but hopefully they do
@@benfiske1they basically did confirm it. He said the quote “when in doubt follow your nose” became friends with the harfoots(hobbits) wore a grey cloak like thing and spoke to the fireflies like Gandalf did the moths. I think they’re combining gandalf with the blue wizards as it was them initially who went east.
@@cfgonyeaIt means nothing because in an interview the showrunners talked about the possibility of him being a blue wizard.
Yeah but they both appeared on middle earth together, yes?
These rumors surrounding Sauron seem like a classic move of production that focus on one of the few characters that receive the most audience favor rather than building on the LORE itself.
When Gandalf said "Its Morbin time" I knew S2 was going to be epic.
Wait a minute: Mithrandir is Gandalf's Elvish name, but its not his Maiar name. His Maia name is Olorin: and before anyone says they don't have the rights, its in the Appendices. He literally told Frodo that was his name in Valinor.
The clear mistake you're making here is applying common sense, sanity and logic
Save yourself the trouble, for "they who are not employing reason cannot be dissuaded, much less by which they lack"
they calling him by his elvish nickname is something else... lol it doesnt give people hope for the show getting better if they dont even know the right names of the main characters (if this is a true leak that is)
It’s not just his Elvish name (Olorin is also Elvish BTW), but his Sindarin name which was given late in the Second Age at the earliest. It helps when rumormongers show their ignorance. Debunking is easy.
I suspect Mithrandir was mentioned more in the Jackson films thus is member berries for the producers.
That’s the name that the elves gave him
This is absolutely insane. It's like Amazon is doubling down on pissing the fandom off. I can't wrap my head around this even from a business standpoint.
This has to be a joke
@@oldtoby4062 I'm afraid it probably isn't. Season 1 also had tons of leaks and most, if not all, turned out to be true.
@@jaystatiion But the probability is high, wouldn't you say?
You have to be a dunce to be fooled by 4chan. These "leaks" are not real, dude.
@oldtoby4062 we said the same thing about season 1, and look how that turned out.
Morgoth as Tom Bombadil? Let's gooo! And how about making Gollum disguised as Eru in the "Music of the Ainur"? And a separate episode of the childhood of Aragorn too while we are at it, where he gets to ride Shadow Fax, which is actually Ancalagon?
Get the sons of feanor involved too just for shits and giggles
Ahhh Halbrand ending up as the witch king could have been SUCH a good arc 😭
I think it depends on how high the showrunners happen to be on the day or the script writing (Yes, I think they get high and write everything inside of 24 hours).
That is definitely how they should gone. It would have been a satisfying yet tragic story, and would have made complete sense in the story they were telling. I actually wonder if that was the original intention in early drafts, and at some point a studio head came in and said, make him Sauron instead! Because him being Sauron just seems so forced.
sorry ,but it was clear since the beginning, where he met galadriel that he is sauron. they did not even try to hide it . what he said on the boat ,could only be said by sauron. it was wild that the which king debate was a thing. and it would have been very stupid to give a side character this much time and attention.
@@ms-xg3ec Are you aware of that we are talking about the Rings of power show?
It is so full of errors and shitty storytelling that I wouldn´t be surprised if they had Galadriel become the Witch king AND Sauron.
@@pexrinne5144 yes i am. and i never thought anything like that while watching it. i think it was more a wishfull thinking by some viewers that there would be more to it.everybody in this series is who he is, except for halbrand.
so that is the first hint.... maybe he is shapeshifter ???
then he meets galadriel coincidencal at the middle of the sea. it was clear that he wanted to meet her. and that he has to be someone special to achieve that. no pre which king could have done that.
then one of the first things he says is, that he wants to help his enemies to master what they seek in order to use it against them afterwards, lol that is excactly what sauron is doing all the time in this era !!!
they could not have done it more obvious.
so it is just very lame and boring writing .

Season 1 annoyed me more than I can say (things like how Mithril was made, or messing with Galadriel's journey to and then back from Aman and how she perceived Sauron for who he was etc etc ). If they mess with it too much, I'm done. I will never forgive them.
...its already too late... 😩
@@lothos-tu4uh Yeah, you are probably right and that makes me sad. But after the massive outcry and condemnation about season 1, you would think they would realise just how badly they screwed up.
Unfortunately it makes sense why Jeff Bezos and Amazon want to adapt this IP, because the spirit of middle earth has to do with the fight and struggle against evil that Bezos represents... So of course he's going to try to corrupt it and twist it so that him and Sauron are no longer evil...
It really is amazing how some supposed fans of Tolkien do not recognize how absolutely world-breaking those changes are.
I'm sorry, but why do they keep using J. R. R. Tolkien's name if they are basically rewriting the whole thing??

@@mbryson2899 Ah ye not Big Ñoldor again, it's all fucked
It hasn´t been already?
Over the holidays I gave a deep think to what story I would have told if Amazon hunted me down and was like "Hobbit and LotR, write us a show and it can't be about Frodo dunking the ring."
It would have been so much cooler if Amazon made a Third Age story on the life of Eärnur, from birth to death. Covers the Wainrider invasions, the Witch-king's second campaign against the North (including the "no man can kill me" prophecy, founding of the Dunadain rangers, early years of the Shire, the Balrog balrogging all over Moria, the founding of Erebor, the capture of Minas Morgul, and the death of the last King of Gondor and the beginning of the line of Stewards. Also Galadriel takes control of Lorien, founding of Rohan's ancestors, and formation of the White Council (and first assault on Dol Guldur with a little timeline smudging). They get Balrogs and Hobbits and Galadriel/Eldrond actually using the Elven Rings, Gandalf, Radagast, maybe Saruman.
That seems like a slam-dunk for a 3-5 season show, and it paves the way for a follow-up show on the second age, where the audience has more questions about the elven rings and that far-off Numenor place, the life story of Galadriel and why she's so respected, Sauron + the Witch-king at the height of their power, etc. Also illustrates to the Tolkien Estate that you have the chops to use their IP respectfully and gives you leverage to negotiate rights to the Silmarillion and other deep lore texts.
I'm a big fan of "balrogging" as a verb. I feel like my gf is capable of it if I wake her up before her alarm goes off.
Don't give them any ideas. In their version, the last king of Gondor will have died because his wife wasn't there to protect him.
Whilst I would love to see (parts of) the Silmarillion made, I want it to be done WELL, and I don't think Amazon is the studio to do that.
GO AWAY UNNECESSARY GANDALF AND SYMPATHETIC SAURON!
This show isn’t an adaptation of The Silmarillion.
I totally agree. What a let down!
Okay, what about sexy Sauron? No room for him? 😂 If these leaks are true, we get to see a golden naked Gandalf and Sauron for season two. Eru save us.
But... this is set after those events...? Do they even have the rights to the Simarillion?
At this point I think their strategy is to intentionally generate outrage. They've lost the fanbase so are just going all in. As bad as the story was in Season 1, I can't believe they would think Melkor as Bombadil would be a good idea otherwise (if true)
When you got to #20, I straight up laughed out loud, looked up from my knitting, and said "WHAT" to my computer screen LOL
"Simon Tolkien will supervise the lore"
Me: ok, that's nice
"Sauron has a son and Bombadil is Melkor"

The phrase 'it could be ok' should never be used in speculation about season 2.
It's like forking through a turd looking for the 'better' parts.
Well said
This gave me a chuckle chuckle.
So why even care about it at all and comment
@@asmooshi9752 Smooth brain reply honestly, the more distain on the internet for something that is well founded the less likely such things will continue which is my hope for RoP. Hopefully that helps explain as to why people comment on things they don't like and care about their verves and hobbies being tainted and you don't have to ask such a obvious question ever again, you're most welcome. :)
Because large productions like this can derail what the IP is perceived to be. There may be millions of you people who watch this rubbish and treat it like the bland, tasteless fare that is and never visit it again.
The early seasons of GOT were so great that they drove millions of people to read the books. A show being garbage will not do that and it will also in many cases deter someone who was going to read the books at some point. @@asmooshi9752
I really respect that you can clearly show your displeasure and how bad these ideas are, without resorting to the slurs and venom that certain others are. We won't have to hate the actors or call them names.
This. The hysterical whining about RoP is so embarrassing as Tolkien fan. It’s okay to not like something, but the over the top bitching about it is worse than the show itself.
Yup!!! Don't have to add anything!!
Its an illness of our time. People are taking iPs and "franchises" more serious than their own lives. It is kind of scary how extreme and fanatical modern fandom has become.
@@thomaskg3802 It's a symptom of society overall - which is largely influenced by social media and bad actors pushing influence and division through it.
The acting was the only good part of the show, literally everything else was abysmal, including the writing; I just feel bad for them honestly, they signed up for Tolkien and got fan fiction.
I went to NZ and Hobbiton it was amazing. I stayed with a lady who housed some of the dwarves during filming of The Hobbit. She had some fun stories to tell. 😊 Enjoy your trip.
Thanks for your content. I have read The Silmarillion since watching your channel. I always avoided fiction, but Tolkien writes as though his mythology is actual history. It is truly captivating.
Many of these plot points sound _very_ unlikely. I remember that e.g. it was rumoured for a long time that Adar is one of Galadriel's brothers and of course that was not the case. So, yeah, I am really sceptical about this list.
I didn't finish season 1 and the thought of giving Amazon views on a show they're butching the IP of just seems disrespectful to Tolkien.
I never watched season 1, and I haven't had the least desire, once I heard comments and reviews. I was hoping that maybe they would come around and do better this time, but this doesn't make me very optimistic. 🤮😱😠💩
Even hate watching was difficult. Couldn't finish it even just to feed my rage.
@@fordp69 dont watch it because you havent seen what I have seen!
One way of interpreting Mairon's line in 16 is " true greatness is only earned by struggling against something. Melkor seeks to challenge everything, forcing those who wish to resist him to become stronger and better than they were previously."
That is an interesting take--very meta. And it echoes the ideas in Feanor's speech to the elves of Valanor and the Doom of Mandos.
This is the kind of stuff that can make season 2 really interesting. But given what we got in season 1, I highly doubt they have the intelligence to pull it off.
I mentioned the Tom Bombadil is Morgoth to my mom, who looooves Tom Bombadil, and she looked at me like she’d just smelled a really bad fart.
hahahaha
Are they trying to resurrect Tolkien? 'Cause he must be rolling in his grave right now.... Unbelievable.
Tolkien is doing that one inch punch trick from Kill Bill part 2 to get out of his coffin and come back for vengeance by this point.
Much like yourself, I cannot even imagine why they would try to change Bombadil like that. I SINCERELY hope that one is false more than any other :)
"That's a really old horse." 😂
Did they literally say Tolkien’s timeless and near perfect tale was unbelievable? Are you f’ing kidding me!?! That’s the reason why it’s literally one of the greatest stories of all time!!!
Edit: I was just talking to my wife about this and she said, “Oh yeah, some Hollywood ass-hat knows how to make Middle Earth more believable “then the guy who invented it!” True words
Perhaps they wanted to pass the Bechdel test???which they did...which is a good thing???
I really hope they’re not going to change it that Sauron was the true power behind Melkor all along. It sounds like they’re going to attribute Melkor’s following and victories to the words and actions of Sauron. While Sauron would have been a big help of course, Melkor was a self-made Dark Lord. They better not undercut Melkor’s importance in the marring of Arda by giving most of the credit to Sauron instead.
If it sounds like a bad idea, they’re almost certainly going to do it
No, they will definitely not do that, because in contrast to what many people seem to believe the show-runners have a very good understanding of the Legendarium and of Tolkien's great themes.
Making Sauron the true father of Celebrian will also be a step too far. They will literally make Aragorn marry Sauron's granddaughter..
@@anni.68 If your showrunners really know so much about Tolkien's Legendarium why couldn't they answer a simple question from a fan at Comiccon about why Galadriel had a Feanorian Star on her armour? How come they didn't recognize the same fan referring to Galadriel's hatred for Feanor, detailed in the Silmarillion and just said that hatred was "his opinion"?
Is that why they decided to erase Celeborn and make Galadriel have the hots on Sauron in Season One? Is that why they decided to make Mithril a magical Elven life elixir, change the reason the Rings were made and the order, so that how the Three are corrupted by Sauron and Galadriel not only knows his identity but is complicit in his evil?
@@anni.68Your showrunners should really perform hara... kiri.
I feel like someone made this as a ruse. I'm grateful for more middle earth content bc there isn't much. We just need better writing on this show and it can work!
This show can never work. After the failure of the first season there is no coming back due to the inconsistencies and complete lack of respect for the source material.
I agree it had some very good elements just fell down in the writing. Just like a good show can get worse an average show can improve!
it can work if they just scrap everything to do with season one and just start over with a brand new team that actually understands the lore and doesnt want to do its own thing.
You’re delusional if you think this show could ever work. Why are you people so obsessed with “new content.” Go outside and get some air.
I agree. It's from some redditors group think hating as far as I can tell. I can't find anything actually linking it to Amazon...
I WANT this to be a successful series, because I NEED more LOTR content!!
I NEED a LOTR universe like Star wars. I'm definitely ok with 'new content ' that is non-tolkien, as long as it doesn't conflict with canon, but expands or 'artistic liberties'
But at that point it is not LOTR. It would be removed entirely from the things that made you like LOTR in the first place.
Why there has to be new content and "universes" for the stories that were told already? We have the books, the primary material which remain and always will be classics.
Also it is very disrespectful towards the original author to add something to his world that was never there to begin with. With "artistic liberties" one could transform Tolkien´s works into whatever you want. At that point, is it not better to create something new to begin with?
If you haven't read; The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, Beren and Luthien, Children of Huron, Fall of Gondolin... BOOM there's your content to enjoy... There's more too like Unfinished Tales, The New Shadow...
Thanks for keeping up with us even though you’re at what might be one of the best trips of your life my dude! Much love and respect! 🤙🏻
I can confirm that Bombadil is Sauron and Melkor's adopted hobbit child.
Please, don’t be ridiculous. Bombadil is clearly their biological Ent child. Melkor was the original and most powerful Entwife you know.
A retelling of history from Sauron's perspective? Edgy! and something few Tolkien Nerds would sign up for.
Personally the history from Sauron's perspective is, I think, a fabulous idea. However, in the hands of those who made season 1 it's only chance is if they reach a Plan 9 level clusterfeck; but I fear they lack the genius of Ed Wood.
Hasn't this already been done before?
In good news- at least they recast Sauron. Usually that would be frustrating, but he was such a miss in season one I think they can only do better 🤷🏻♀️
@@infinityking4439 Where has it been done before?
@@theother1281 Sauron isn't meant to have a human perspective, or to be nuanced; he's symbolizing a certain conception of evil and he's giving it a shape or a vehicle (as an antagonist to the values symbolized by the fellowship). It's kind of a naive/shallow idea to humanize Sauron, even if on the surface "it sounds interesting", because it just doesn't make much sense. Sure, Sauron in the 2nd age had direct influence and did take a "fair shape" to manipulate Celebrimbor and the Numenoreans. And in that context he seems like an actual person with motivations and needs, but nowhere do you see him grow up, adapt, learn and change as a being or in relation to his objectives, which are the characteristics that you kind of need to make such a story work. Like, what kind of story would Sauron go through that wouldn't be totally boring or pointless, anyway? If Amazon had the rights to the full material on the 2nd age they would not be trying to tell that story, because they wouldn't need to.
WOW!!! I'm blown away by some of those. I agree with you Matt that the music of the Einor would be cool if done well but man as that list goes on it gets worse and worse and worse.. I really hope none of those rumors come to fruition because that would turn so many fans off I don't think they could recover.
I felt the same way as you though Matt, had to just laugh out loud at some of those.
What if all along Morgoth just goes along doing evil but speaking in rhyme and song like Tom?
He's out here corrupting elves into orcs and creating dragons all in yellow boots singing merry songs and rhyming about the beauty of the river woman's daughter, Ungoliant.
The music of the ainur should have been the intro to season 1 instead of baby galadriel playing with paper boats
I've heard a wild rumor it's gonna be good. Never believed that fake, obviously.
I mean... where would you even hear that?
Had to check the date to make sure it wasn’t April 1st
Totally agree with you. Some strange ideas in there that don't really make me look forward to season 2, I hope they're only rumors... seems like they're trying even further to insert unnecessary surprises into existing stories. I was pretty much on board for most of the stuff they did in season 1, but if all of this here is true, it could be too much. Especially the whole thing about making Sauron kind of the main protagonist... like, "Hey, look, he's not such a bad guy after all! Maybe Gandalf was way out of line with his whole destroying the One Ring business..."
I guess I'll have to watch it and only then can I really say if I like it or not. But some of these things are really a turn off for me.
Maybe these 28 points are intended as a prank...?
It's pretty hard to imagine them topping season one, yet here we are, talking about Tom Bombadil as Morgoth.
I feel like this is some PR stunt that aims to put such wildly fantastic scenarios out there to assuage our minds so that when we find out that Tom Bombadil is actually the Tooth Fairy, and Sauron is just a sad, misunderstood character who we should all feel sorry for, we will in fact be relieved, and not *as* disappointed.
I am reading the LOTR for the very first time (finished the Hobbit already), and even to me the idea of Tom Bombadil = Morgoth sounds crazy
Frodo: "Who is Tom Bombadil?"
Goldberry: "B L A C K H E A R T"
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results
No it isn’t.
@@jameswoowaa479 ok 🤡
Wont be able to watch this till later but for now, watching the adventures has been so awesome! So glad you get to do this! :D
My favorite part of Rings of Power is when Morgoth turns to Sauron and says, we need to cook! and then they drive off in their winnebago.
"I'm guessing it means including the breaking of the First Silence because it will be a pretty quiet episode" 🤣
If Simon Tolkien is overseeing this, what the hell is he thinking?!
He either isn't, or is as dumb as others.
He will undo his grandfather's legacy. You have the Creator, the Curator (which would be Christopher), and then the Corrupter. - Stages of most Family Businesses.
Money, money, money
@@DavidFillion Source: I made that all up
This list is fake and Simon Tolkien would of course never permit this nonsense.
I heard that Sauron is actually Kaiser Soze.
So much of that list genuinely scares me, I'm planning on keeping an open mind going into season 2 because there is not much else I can do lol. Aside from the very questionable potential plot points I'm very interested on how they'll do the destruction of Eregion and Elrond's defeat/retreat. I feel like there is a lot of ways they could do that really well. In addition to that some first age cameos of characters like Finwe and Feanor/his sons could be really cool if done right. I'm really hoping that S2 will be an upgrade from S1
I do not mind the first 14 ish points. After that it gets a little iffy, if not downright crazy. Like you said, having an entire season be Sauron's story would be questionable. At the very most they should do Saurons story to begin the episodes but then get back to the Second Age for the rest of each one. Melkor being the first created and watching Eru use the Flame Imperishable to create life would explain his desire for such a power. The Maiar having a discussion could be pretty cool if done correctly. I guess up until this point I just figured they were floating spirits in the Void until they came into Arda. I interpreted the Gandalf agreeing with Sauron part as Sauron has not yet been corrupted by Melkor, so maybe the discussion is more neutral than Sauron trying to convince them to follow Melkor.
The Sauron as Celeborn and Sauron having a son things are terrible.
There's just no need for the horse stuff. None at all.
The Melkor/Bombadil/Ungoliant/Goldberry thing is just bizarre. Needless to say that should never happen.
It seems like the first half of these "rumors" are somewhat realistic/fathomable, and the second half are just preposterous. I'm hoping someone had some fun and threw the last 12 or so in there just to have a laugh.
I used to be a frequent commenter, until Elves took my job. That being said, I would be very surprised if season two is actually released. Cutting bait is very trendy in the streaming world right now.
🤣🤣🤣
The more I read and re-read it, the more those "leaks" are feeling like Chat-GPT output.
Tom Bomberdil as Morgoth sounds like something Screenrant would come out with absolutely ridiculous
I *cannot* believe Bombdil is actually Morgoth. I can imagine there is some miscommunication there; perhps the same actors are used with prosthetics-- but no, no incredible lore perversion like that.
I assume they meant that the actor who plays bombadil also plays morgoth with heavy makeup so you can't tell. I really can't imagine anyone would be so boneheaded to make this huge of a mistake.
No. This seams on par for what they've done so far.
"Why does it hurt so much?" 😭😭😭
With these writers who made Galadriel a villain; i can believe it.
@@theother1281 😄😄 Did I mention that I killed an ice troll by myself in under a minute?
I don't think Gandalf nearly being convinced by Sauron would have anything to do with moral shades of grey or anything of the like, I think it's actually because he is so close in mind with Eru.
Eru created Melkor knowing exactly what he would do, and he basically says as much during his rebuke of Melkor following the discord. Melkor, and thus evil, exist _on purpose_ in Arda, and they exist because spiritual salvation requires the existence of evil in order to truly attain. And that is what Eru wants for his children, and it's why he gave them free will: To earn salvation through the rejection of evil and through courage and self-sacrifice in the service of others.
Tolkien was a devoutly religious man, and this is probably the most important theme in the whole of his writing. Virtually every character's arc is centered around them earning this spiritual salvation, so Gandalf seeing some validity to the idea doesn't seem that crazy to me.
Number 20 is basically Sauron going Inigo Montoya and now the mental images don't stop XD
We need a Bombadil v. Morgoth video. Just comparing and contrasting their character traits, which seems to be mostly contrasting, although a very small number of things (maybe only 1) match up…that both are eternal. Still, a scholarly compare and contrast seems like the best response to this!
Hahaha, so before returning to the undying lands at the end of ROTK... Gandalf was chilling with MORGOTH? I cannot stop laughing
This is a great video haha I was laughing with you the whole 35 minutes. Keep it going I'm a fan of your channel.
There were false rumours before S1 too -- like when people posted that photo of one of the Mystics and claimed that this would be Sauron. Some of the items on this list feel about the same way. There are things which are already known, such as that S2 will depict the fall of Eregion, and such things are deliberately mixed with false rumours, apparently in order to entice hatred towards the show. I think it's just malice. Saying that Tom Bombadil will be Melkor sounds exactly like the sort of things show haters would use to gather more support for their cuase. Not that the show is perfect, but there's no way it would include such nonsense.
Thank you. I could not agree more.
The people that don't like this garbage show don't need to make up anything to persuade people to hate the show. The content of the show does all the work.
@@stevenstehling the show is not garbage. There are plenty of people who like it. You don't have to, no one is forcing you.
@@68mlk It is garbage. The writing, casting, costume, acting and swt design were awful. Low budget CW shows had better production value and this was the most expensive television show ever. There are serious questions about how that money was used, because it didn't end up on screen.
I never said I was forced to watch it. That's a childish strawman akin to "if you don't like it, don't say anything". We will praise what we like and criticize garbge. We don't want more garbage, so we're going to make noise.
@@stevenstehling who is "we"? I find your phrasing interesting. I approach this show as an individual. There are things I like and things I dislike about it. Why do you feel the need to express yourself as a part of a collective? Do you have your opinion independent of it?

I don't think you have to worry about spoilers much with that list.
Actually a shame we didn’t get Morgan Freeman as Eru
For the Elves, Anatar will have to be a flashback to the design of the forge tower...
If I had a dollar for every one of these rumored plot points that turns out to be true... I might be able to buy a McChicken sandwich. No fries or drink.
Seeing the Valar would be a dream come true, but I can't let my hopes get up.
Yes, but Naked Valar strategically lit sounds pretty bad.
@@Darrow1991 not at all, our ancient representations of ancient Greek and Roman gods, goddesses, demi-gods, heroes, and statesmen were mostly naked. This is to show the purity, nobility, and divinity of the human essence and form. Or think of Christian Cherubs, or of Adam and Eve naked to show the innocence of babes. You don’t need a sunset to wear pants.
I agree @@LordTelperion
@@LordTelperionNah they're trying to go the Game of Thrones debauchery route... This show is too tasteless to show nudity in that light..
All of season 1 was actually just Sauron strategizing how he will go about tricking everyone and non of it actually happened. It was all just his imagination of how he believes it would of happened with that particular plan He then rejects that plan because of how it ended and decides to go with the plan that was laid out by Tolkien.
Sauron's son is the ex boyfriend of Galadriel's daughter! This guys are genious...wow
I'm quite positive about Rings of Power but if Melkor is Bombadil, I would genuinely feel that is utter treason.
You cannot have something that's supposed to be pure, be the utter evil of all creation. That goes so far against.... I can't.
Also, if they bring back Celeborn just for him to be sodding Halbrand 2.0, that would be a massive disappointment.
I don't believe any of this, but I have the suspicion that they will resurecct Celeborn and that poor Glorfindel will be kicked out of an adaptation....again.
I thought Bombadil was more true neutral or rather the asexual equivalent to good and evil rather than being pure. It's why his section seems out of place because it doesn't fit with the rest of the epic story. It's Tolkien basically showing something like fairies of a world which is just totally removed from our experience.
They now have "Simon Tolkien" with them good news, right? No... Simon Tolkien said he didn't like "Peter Jackson" movies because he followed the books too much. That's the main reason why the Tolkien estate hasn't said anything against Amazon Prime lore-breaking series, is because Simon Tolkien allows it. They don't want to follow the main story or the lore in the books and we are given something else that we don't want. They want to put their own story in an already beloved story, so why not make your own story instead, because if do, no one will watch it, that's why.
The first season was 97% lore-breaking and more lore break is coming. Peter Jackson had lore breaking too (Don't get me wrong) but he wasn't allowed to make more than 3 movies at the time with time limits on all 3 of them "One of the reasons why you got the extended edition later on" Peter Jackson was given $300 million, today value would have been almost $529 million... That's almost half of what Amazon Prime Rings of Power costs. So in their main for almost double the price you will get 9 times more lore-breaking, bad story, bad acting, identity politics, and a more modern version. (And the list goes on)
They expect us to love their version more than the books? The showrunners lied from day one about their series, they even asked Peter Jackson and ghosted him when he asked to see the script first before making a decision. Even IMDB owned by Amazon deleted almost every bad review (Not the good once) on their website for the Rings of Power series and was caught red-handed. Amazon is doing everything they can to do damage control, but still making this series. No matter what, at the end of the day it all comes to how much they made from it, even if they lose millions of dollars on this, they will still call it a win...
Simon is a massive disappointment. He unintentionally became the embodiment of Tolkien's theme that men of the past are more noble and their heirs have wasted the gift that was theirs by birthright.
@@stevenstehling indeed
Enjoy your tour around NZ mate, glad to have you here.
3:48 Maybe it will be like the second season of Good Omens with a majority of an episode taking place in the past. Accurate to the Lore or not, I think I might enjoy this. BTW In Deep Geek did a video on the Lord of the Rings from his perspective just to let you guys know.
When you described Mairon having a meeting with other Maiar I just imagined it being as cringe as the “Elf-lover” guy speech from S1, except he’ll be calling the Valar “Children-lovers”😂
If they actually have Sauron have a son that kind of diminishes the whole Thingol and Melian thing, and it's stated specifically this is the only "strain of the spirits divine" among Elves and Men in the entire story. And I really hate this whole trying to humanize Sauron thing. Just because he said sorry to Eonwe and just because he could pretend to be kind doesn't mean he didn't see himself as far above literally everyone else lol. This is the same Sauron that was rubbing his hands together in delight at the thought of giving Luthien Tinuviel to Morgoth 😂🤮
I was thinking about this and considered that the difference between Sauron and say Smaug, is that the former is a device more than anything. Smaug is obviously trying to tell us something.
Sauron’s not supposed to have depth or a conflicted agency? he is supposed to portray pure force of evil.
Else some ass-hat is going to interrupt any future lotr screening with “well actually” whenever Sauron is mentioned…
But then again Mordor is Birmingham so who cares.
Suaron sneaking as Celeborn is another silly thing… but makes sense as they totally missed the chance of creating a true masterpiece scene with the creation of the rings… I do not like it but it may fit to continue what they said… but, I mean, Galadriel is no fool! How are they going to show this? Anyways, execution as you said, Matt
I mean, show Galadriel IS kind of a fool...haha
I appreciate all the Lord of the rings content!! ❤❤❤
They had me in the first half not gonna lie
Evil can only corrupt, not create. This has a very consistent signature of "nothing is sacred" that season one had. "The sea is always right! 🤪🤪"
Tolkien's theology so fully pervaded his stories, the book Tolkien Dogmatics is a great read and shows at length how much care JRRT took make his works thematically consistent with what he believed about the nature of religion and indeed reality. To make some of these changes (particularly the ones about the natures of true evil and true good) not only disgustingly misuses his life's work, it uses his masterpiece to undermine the one thing that mattered to him even more deeply - his understanding of God and His creation.
These leaks might not be true, and I might be interpreting them in an unfairly critical way, but this stuff is so much more gross to me than any previous creative decisions because they amount to an insidious inversion of the author's intent - to display heroism and courage in defiance of evil, not to equivocate and celebrate it.
wah 😩
