FINALLY! How to delete your 4.6 3V Mustang engine and swap it for a first Gen Coyote!

- The day has finally come! We started the real journey on the windviel car this weekend by removing the old 4.6 3V and preparing to replace it with a first gen coyote!
It isn't quite step by step but if you have access to a lift, this is the way.

I’ve got an 09 gt500 and am slowing accumulating parts for a coyote twin set up. These cars are a lot of fun. Great work and nice car. I’m curious what controller your going with. I hear US shift stand alone for the trans burns them up.
Why get rid of the 5.4?
I built a twin gt350 on hellion turbos and it was infectious. Crazy power, never was a fan of superchargers. Ended up with this car after my wife came back from a trip to find a new car. She pulled into the driveway with it. Work with what you got I guess but I’ve already got an s550 rear end that I’m planning on putting in it. The one write up I’ve found with one person doing that is it’s not too bad with some mild fabrication work. It’s more fun to build and change and modify for me then it is to drive and drag the cars. Yes I can get the power out of the 5.4 but if it’s my car, and I enjoy building cars more then driving, then why not? I’ve done a svt focus engine in an escort, I’ve done a small block in a focus. It’s a habit.
A friend and I both run these controllers. No issues so far several years in. One car making 900 the other 470. Both trannies stock.
The tune is critical just like with engine management. They have strategies in the tune and slip detection to help with clutch wear.
I be watching this video like it’s the Bible for Catholics. One day I’ll do my swap and have this whole tutorial memorized 😂😂😂

Hell yeah! My car was just shy of 250k when I swapped it
But I like my 3 valve.
Unbolt the caliper, bungee cord them to the side and just unbolt the top of the strut. Easier than busting the ball joint free
I couldn’t disagree more. Ball joint is one bolt per side and not tapered. Came out stupid easy.
I'm thinking about buying a low milage Coyote and transmission combo from ebay or somewhere. Approximately, what would a shop charge for labor to remove my 3V and transmission, put the new ones in and get it running for me to drive it home? I know it varies from place to place, but just an approximate price. I'm in North Georgia.
Impersonally would charge 40 hours to do this whole project

How does a swap like this do for normal street driving maybe the occasional light to light run like 0-60 or maybe how fast would it do the 1/4 vs a say FBO 3v? Thanks
This will be perfect for street driving. This engine I’m swapping made the 2012 GT it came from go 10.7 in the 1/4. Not sure a FBO 3V Na can do that
I’ll also be retaining Ac And cruise control

Sorry if this was already mentioned in the video, but is the whole wiring process the same for an f150 and mustang engine? For example, can I use a mustang PCM and wiring harness with an f150 motor?
Yup! In fact I have an F150 engine in my Fox and it uses the ford control pack which mimics the Mustang wiring.

how tall is your garage roof? I have the same lift, but not sure I can clear the engine, trans and subframe. Do you know how much clearance was needed to make this work? thanks!
My ceiling is vaulted. 11ft at the peak. 8ft walls Hope that helps.

Yes with our methods many have
Its so hard to find a gen 2 coyote where i live. I dont wanna go gen 3 because its more complicated and direct injection

Do u have any problems with emissions? I wanna do this but im afraid i wont pass emission i dont live in ca but they do check emission readiness
If you happen to see my latest vid I cover the one thing keeping the check engine light on currently and working through that. I haven’t had that code fixed and through a Drive cycle yet. Research to see how many monitors don’t have to pass for your area

why did you go with the gen 1 ?
Gen 1 ECU CAN bus communicates well with every system in the 05-09 except for the reverse lights.

Why not just stroke it and port and polish the heads and run racing pulleys and a intake manifold
No one does that to a 3V. Besides you’d get like 50hp. The coyote I put in has 500
