Excellent video. Thank you for making this. I just replaced my injectors, and I have some insights to add. First, before you remove the valve cover bolt that holds the fuel line to the head, you must remove the oil filler cap and pull up on the plastic cover over the coils and valve cover. This gives you easier access to the bolt. Second, there are four “Christmas trees” holding the wiring harness to the back of the intake manifold, and they are stubborn. Just be patient and use a tool such as the one he uses in the video. Third and most importantly, a lot of dirt and debris can collect around the injectors, so before you undo the fuel lines and remove the injectors, cover your intake ports, breathers, throttle body opening, etc, and then use a blower nozzle to blow air around the injectors. A lot of dust and sand flew out when I did this. Then remove the fuel lines and cap them. Pry up the injectors just a little bit, and blow around them one more time. This should remove any debris that might fall into your combustion chambers. At that point, you can safely remove your injectors. One last thing: the first thing to do in this job is to pull the fuel pump fuse and run the motor until it dies. This depressurizes the fuel system.

Helpfull video! I had the P050D code. I followed ur example and was able to knock out all 8 injectors in just over 3 hrs. My truck took about 5 times cranking the key to get going but now sounds and run like a champ. The code never came up anymore. I need to get used to adding fuel system cleaner in gas tank to hopefully avoid dirty injectors.

The feed pipe part # that you have listed has changed from 12677002 to 12377004 per my GM Dealership. I had already ordered the injectors (same as you suggested) and now should be good to go. Many of the GM forums do not know about your video so I will be sharing it there as many people do not have a solid resource like yours. Had a P0300 and a P050D on my 2017 Silverado 1500 Z71 with only 46k miles. Was not very happy. I replaced the spark plugs and spark plug wires myself, which didn’t fix the problem. Chevy Dealership wanted between 3k-4k to fix; was almost 2k for parts alone. I have minimal mechanic skill but after watching your video and several others, I believed I could do it myself. I bought GM parts and a handful of new tools for around $800. I took my time and the injector replacement went great. The injector rails came out relatively smooth for me. The hardest part was the (3) Christmas tree style push tabs on the back of the intake manifold. Truck runs like a top and no CEL. Thanks for the video!

Chris, terrific video! I think this is my next step. I currently have a 2017 Yukon XL Denali 109K miles, 6.2L V8
Bought it a few months ago and I've had P050D "cold start rough idle" that is very consistent and sometimes P0301 comes up. Initially it was P0300, but after changing plugs and wires (I only use OEM) it's only P0301 and shows up occasionally. I ended up replacing the ignition coil on cylinder 1 and used some fuel injection cleaner too. That seemed to help a bit, but the codes keep coming back off and on. I switched plugs from different cylinders to see if I had a bad plug, but that doesn't seem to be the issue.
This leads me to thinking that the fuel injectors are going bad. Everything I've read said fuel injectors last 50K-100K miles and with mine at 109K they likely haven't been replaced is my guess. When I hook up my scanner to check for misfires, I'll occasionally get random cylinders that have 3-5 misfires on a short trip (20-30 minutes) -- which leads me to believe all fuel injections are likely going bad. Thoughts?

Total cost was around $200 to change all 8 (got lucky with the price tbh). But even if I had to pay $500 for all 8 injectors it would have been a bargain compared to what they were asking.

I have a 2016 Sierra 5.3. The dealer said injectors 1,3 and 8 were bad, but best to replace all of them. That I agree with.
Fault codes are Po50D and P0300.
GM Tech-link says I have three different injectors installed, low flow, normal flow, and high flow.
I read on GM tech-link, that if the injector order were mixed up, the normal flow injector could be installed for all 8 injectors, but you could have fuel trim and emission problems.
GM also recommends all the hard fuel injector line to be replaced to prevent fuel leakage, since the high-pressure fuel is about 3000 PSI
Does it really make a difference?
This was in December 2020. In March 2021 when it warmed up the fault codes cleared on their own.
      What do you think?

Jesus, that truck you were working on must have been pretty new and low mileage! What a nightmare mine was! That harness on the back of the intake was a real pain in the ass. Mine was a big box holding the harness with three of the big Christmas tree clips holding it fast. My drivers side fuel rail came out with some prying and I got those injectors all swapped. My passenger side though, what a fucking nightmare. Over three hours of prying and everything I could think of and the rail wouldn't budge other than the front injector pulled up a little bit and started to bend the fuel rail. I finally said Fuck this and put it back together. It runs good again and my miss is gone. Thank God my misfire and bad injector was #5 on the drivers side. If the passenger side ever goes bad in taking it to a goddamn shop or just burning it to the ground. I'm actually starting to really get sick of this truck and not trust it anymore after reading the nightmares these 2014+ 5.3's are. GM took a VERY solid and reliable motor and made it into garbage that can barely make it to 100,000 miles. My truck is a 2014 and I had to replace the injectors already and my AC condenser had the all too famous leak in it so I have no AC. Luckily it went right at the end of fall when I didn't really need it but I going to have to replace that now before spring gets here. Now that it's running good again I'm seriously thinking of trading it in and getting rid of it.

Just so your aware though, the two fuel line parts you have linked are both S curve fuel lines. Pn 12677004 is the other fuel line, my local dealer had it. Also the injectors linked in the video did not come with the dust boots or whatever theyre called for the injectors, at least not for me. But thank you again for putting this together. Bank 2 codes out then few minutes bank one goes . Only does it on a hot engine at idle. There is white smoke from the exhaust but very faint. I'm thinking it's a leaking fuel injector. Am I on the right path or am I over looking something, like the fuel pressure pump.
And just out of curiosity why do you tighten the fuel lines before you loosen them?

Another good trick when finishing up the fuel rails on the install of the new injectors put the key in the on position let the rails pressurize and check for leaks. unfortunately for me I had someone do some work for me and he never checked for leaks and he never changed those lines that you said would leak.so I had to pull the intake off and go back in there and tighten up the line to get rid of the leak. Unfortunately the guy was 10 hours away from me or I would have brought it back to him and let him fix it

Just be very carful when you do this. If you accidently crank it, you could have major issues. Also if you turn the key on with all that disconnected you will have a check engine light come on so you will need to be able to clear it (but 9 times out of 10 the check engine light is already on and that's why you are doing the job.)

Great video. I followed it step by step after getting some open injector codes. I replace all as suggested. Codes went away. However engine won't start. Turning but appears no fuel getting in. I sprayed in some starting fluid and turned over for a moment. I checked fuses and finally pulled manifold back off and checked all connections, which were good. A bit stumped. Possibly high pressure fuel pump? I can hear the fuel pump in the tank when I turn key. Of note, this engine is in a 52 Chevy pickup and has not been driven since installed.. Engine had 40k miles when pulled from a 2014 Silverado (5.3 L83). Wiring harness is from Current Performance in FL. I did have it running several times before getting P0202, P0204 and P0208 codes. Injectors were filthy so needed replacing for sure. Wires look to be okay. Any other ideas? I have heard those high pressure pumps can be a problem. Appreciate any advice.

You check the ground and power to injectors? Also, did you check the terminals for "spreading" and loss of contact? The codes are all on the passenger's side....makes you think it might be an injector connector problem. Hard to believe it is an injector problem if they are OEM brand (acdelco).

Great video! Just did the repair today, and i have to say the video was great at taking the unknown out of the job. It was an afternoon's work and everything went great. could probably knock it out in about 2 hours now that I have done one. The dealers are getting fat off this job if what everyone is saying about the pricing is true!
No check engine light and the truck runs better and smoother idle. The hardest part was getting the christmas trees off the back of the intake. But other than that it was easier than I expected.
Just a couple notes about the parts links: Even though it said the injectors were not the correct ones for my truck, they were. And I ordered the S pipe and feed pipe from the links and I ended up with 2 S pipes from 2 different vendors, but I have no idea why. The local Chevy dealer had the feed pipe in stock for $41. The link for the intake gasket bring you to the seller and it says "set". Don't be fooled. It is not a set. It is a gasket for $5, and it is for one runner. You will need 8 of these.
