    One of those impractical things you will never do yourself, but really cool and fun to watch.

    • @SezzesStuff
      @SezzesStuff Před 8 lety

      ***** I'm sure it will work and I'm sure it will be cool. But you can't compare it to a $350 smart watch as this will be really thick (remember, it also needs a battery) and the display is of course not as good as what a $350 watch would have. It will also probably look very home made as you can't really produce proper casing for it. In this case, you get what you pay for.

    This is my comment on the watch and LCD. I use this type of LCD all the time it is for great use. But my question is what real time clock are you going to use? Will it get the time and date from your phone or have it's own?

      Honestly, there's only so much I can get done in 2 weeks. I got a little bit further than shown in the video, but I had to split it up into sections that made sense...I couldn't just stop in the middle. So we have the LCD section, next one will be the communication/functionality section, and the final one will be the power & casing section.

    At 2.11, you show the pinout with 9 pins - one NC and then 8 more numbered 1 to 8.
    In the next shot when you're soldering wires onto the connectors, there are only 8 pins, which agrees with the LCD that I have. So I guess your pinout diagram is wrong (sourced elsewhere, perhaps?)

    It'd be brilliant if you made it work from a Pi Zero (not sure of the size comparison to be honest, probably a tad too big) but then it could be it's own standalone device. :D

    • @Nicolai0Nerland
      @Nicolai0Nerland Před 8 lety

      Issue with Pi is Linux is not as barebone as Audrino. So one is going to have to put more work into it (as I've noticed it's going to be like for project).

    • @Tinkernut
      @Tinkernut  Před 8 lety +1

      That would be a much better option, but the Pi Zero was still too large for a watch.

    • @TDGalea
      @TDGalea Před 8 lety

      Yeah, thought so. Never actually seen a Nano myself so I wouldn't know.
      Pity but oh well. I'm sure the rest of this series will be a brilliant watch still.

    • @TDGalea
      @TDGalea Před 8 lety

      Yes, but as for software, a real OS can do a lot more. And, as I say, be standalone.
      I know for a fact an Arduino is a lot more capable at hardware related things than a Pi's GPIOs but nonetheless.
