Aside from removing wall plateaus, I wonder what change to the game would cause it to reward aesthetic building the most? I feel like encouraging you to produce nice-looking islands is already the purpose of a lot of the scoring system, but it just falls short in a few areas.
I think you'd have to institute more penalties into the scoring system, and skew the point values much higher to reward the placements that you intended. But aesthetics are impossible to quantify. Hard to say what would help.

I really love how the seaweed farms and the big city turned out! And yes, the times are quite stressful right now, so I'm glad to hear you can find some rest in this game. Delightful video. I was rooting for "shantytown" to get built up. But as I watched this I kept wishing you had placed the towers early in a way such that they formed a cool skyline.
Ah, a skyline! I hadn't considered that as part of a cities appearance but it is important.
Having not watched your videos for some time, coming back brings amusement to how you can seriously glitch those plateaus.
Ha, I try my best! Their behavior is somewhat unpredictable.
I've been thinking about making an island where you can actually make a contiguous wall around all of the relevant city hubs and make it look pretty as well as scoring well.
I think it should be possible, but it's probably insanely hard to actually plan for it.
I think if you went into an island with that intention then it would work out well!
@@TheConnorRoberson I'll definitely try on my next island but I'm not that convinced yet about my ability to plan that well. I'm still learning though.

you know youve barely scratched the surface on this game when this guy can get a 7000 point score on a single island who is also going for beauty points instead of playing it logically but has still beat your score lol

This is basically how I play, only I spend maybe twice as long getting things to "sim city" together perfectly... I drive myself insane playing games the way I do... gonna try for score after watching your videos :)
