I currently work at a TJs, this line cracked me up because it's SO true "The best part of going to Trader Joes is the going to the grocery store after it to get all the stuff you didn't get at Trader Joe's" - I get so many "Do you have (things normal stores have) questions?"

I get asked almost twice a week if we have foil. I also work at TJs
So TJ's target audience is foodies? Or people who LIKE to shop? Because for me, grocery store food needs to be DAMN good to make me want to go an extra place (given the MASSIVE variety at regular grocery stores, and range of prices). And in fact, if I can, I'd rather get specialty food through internet with delivery, if I can get the brand I want at a reasonable price.
With my Walmart budget, I feel fancy walking into either a Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods.
Never been in either. There is a whole food not to far from me, but yeah it seems like a fancy place.
Costco has your pizza cooked and ready at a steady $9 vs basically everything else. Kirkland pizza low-key slaps.
Traders joes is surprisingly affordable, not many items are over 3 or 4 USD

Whole Foods = great for when you’re actually planning to cook before eating.
Trader Joe’s = great for when you need a tasty, pre-prepared food you just want to warm up.
All of this is true except insert any other grocery store where it says Whole Foods. Whole Foods isn't even good for planning to cook a meal.

As a former TJ crew member, I knew from the start that 365 was going to get CRUSHED. Still surprised at the chicken sausage, that might be my favorite thing in the store.
Wasn't cooked as well as those of whole foods.
The only thing I profoundly prefer over the usual store brands is the whole foods and sprouts deli for cold cuts.
No doubt about it, I've shopped at both several times and I'm always let down by 365 brand items. I was actually eating the TJ's peanut butter cups at the start of the show and when I saw them on the episode I knew whole foods had no chance. They're better than Reese's IMO.

i actually learned about the existence of Hatch chili peppers thru the frozen mac & cheese dinner TJ has that has Hatch chili peppers in it, so good; you guys also used to have a candy bar called a Quasar that was like a Milky Way Midnight: dark chocolate, nougat and caramel

As a lover of both, I totally saw this coming. TJ's has the tastier items MOST of the time, but they also use a ton more salt and processed ingredients and that's why 😂

what processed ingredients? TJs has very few preservatives in their foods and all of them are naturally sourced to my knowledge
@@ARMTOASTAlot of trader joes frozen foods are very processed. It's a hit or miss in their frozen foods. Though they definitely also have healthy options.

Whole foods is basically at a constant disadvantage due to trying to be a healthier option. It's good that it exists, but sometimes you want things to taste good, not good enough.
