Last year, my big iPhone 7 video was hit with copyright- so today, we're giving it another shot with the added context of iOS 17! Hope you all enjoy! Also, anyone still using the iPhone 7 / 7 Plus? How's it been working for you since losing support?
The fact that the iPhone 7 is still very decent in 2023 and even into 2024 is just wild. Thank you for another great retrospective review on the iPhone 7 91 tech.

I upgraded from an iPhone 7 to XS early last year, just before it lost the latest iOS. Mum now uses my 7, and she’ll be getting my XS next year, when the same thing happens again. It’s a great little phone, and is streets ahead of the 6, which I had to use for a month earlier this year. For one thing, Mum has an app to control her hearing aids, which refused to work on the 6, but does not have the same problem on the 7. Thanks for the content, as always!
@@tunnandaaung2 I was considering the 13 Mini before the new Pros went titanium. My kids have a 13 Pro, and I don’t like the weight. If Apple release a new iPad Mini before I upgrade, I still might go with the Mini 13.
This was actually my first iPhone! Despite the fact that one year later the revolutionary iPhone X was released, I really loved my 7. It was a great introduction to the Apple world
@@davemk9it was revolutionary for ALL smartphones. The first time we has a phone (by a major manufacturer) that had actual edge to edge display unlike the s8 with its borders, Face ID, which to this day Apple remains the single only major relevant company to have, L shaped battery, stainless steel, the notch, it’s designed was copied by almost everyone in the industry, and probably more that just don’t come to mind. The iPhone X has been the single most influential phone aside from the original iPhone. It has left the biggest impact on the industry and influenced almost every single phone that followed. To call it anything but that is a massive understatement.
@@davemk9 although the iphone didn't invent the notch, although it did make it quite popular, if you look at every other phone released in 2017, every one of them (at least the major ones, i couldn't find any others), has a massive chin on the bottom, even if they might have had thinner bezels near the top and sides. the iphone x was the first mainstream phone with completely even bezels, and the only one with the folded display needed to accomplish that. even a few years after the iphone came out, and to some extent today, android phones often had a chin still. had the iphone x not released, we would probably still be seeing that chin on todays phones, so i really do think apple was revolutionary, they affected the entire industry.
I had the Jet Black iPhone 7 plus since it came out in 2016, and i have upgraded to the iPhone 15 pro max in October. I would have kept my iPhone 7 Plus for another year, however I was having issues with the lightning port being loose and not charging properly after several years of use, and of course the battery with its inefficiency was starting to become inconvenient.
I bought a half price new iPhone 7 on Prime day in 2019. I did not replace it until 2022 when I bought a new half price iPhone SE 2020 to replace it. It is a great phone. I used to watch this iPhone 7 keynote to persuade me that I was not missing anything by not replacing it. I still get iOS security updates for my iPhone 7. It is currently running iOS 15.8 which only came out a few months ago. The wired lightning earphones that came in the box with the iPhone 7 were just as good as traditional earphones.
Yeah idk why they say it lost support it’s still supported just on iOS 15. It just doesn’t get new features anymore, same with the 6s. Nobody needs iOS 17 and if I’m being honest I’ve used it and it’s not much if at all different from iOS 15.
A10 was supposedly that much faster than the previous. But my iPhone SE 1 performed in real world experience better than my 7. Probably to do with the smaller display.
One of if not my all time fav. Phone. Have had several of them over the years, tried others, but kept comming back to it. Especially during pandemic. Loved the button, now on the se2022.
My mom used a 5C for years upgrading an Ancient Android with Android 2.3. Then have used an iPhone 7 for years. It’s amazing that she has had only 2 phones in 10 years and haven’t felt like she is missing anything. With security updates for another year or two she will likely keep the 7 for at least a couple of more years. You can’t really do that with Android.
@@BonusCrookSamsung devices receive less overall software updates than iPhones, the latest iOS is available for longer on older iPhones compared to the latest version from Samsung. Samsung and Google have been working on this, as mentioned in the video. I do like both Android and iOS regardless.
Anytime I see an iPhone retrospective and it’s got 91 tech. I automatically click on it. I think there’s some of the best on CZcams. I had the iPhone 7 jet black 128 gig. It was the last iPhone I felt comfortable rocking without a case even though I’ve never broke one from dropping it, I miss the aluminum back don’t really care about wireless charging even though I do use it on a daily basis I could live without it
So awesome that you did a whole new video for this even though it's only a year and a half later. I watched the whole thing as I did the last one, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Another interesting one to take a look it could be the 12 series. To me that year feels like the final iteration of iPhone, and until they make a major change it just seems like everything since is just an iterant of it. Also a fun story with Covid production issues and everything along the way.
Talked to a ex-Apple guy before, the reason why older A chip iPads can have newer iPadOS is because in fact iPad SoCs are actually different from the ones used in iPhones with much higher(mostly double) memory bandwidth.
Honestly dude, your videos are like mini documentaries that actually capture my attention. It’s not simply because I like tech either. I like what you bring to these topics and the way you word things and talk. I wouldn’t watch these if it weren’t you doing it. I hope this comment brightens your day like watching your videos brightens mine!!
I bought the 7plus about 6 months after launch and used it for 2 years or so. I then sold it to a friend and he used it until about August of this year, when he finally had the money to upgrade to a 14 pro. It was a fantastic phone with an amazing shelf life, and he got his use out of it during the time. The battery life was terrible by the end, due to 6.5 years of heavy use, but it was still able to do everything you’d realistically need from a modern phone and just missed newer “features.” I got to see that phone progress through an almost 7 year life cycle and it is amazing how well it aged. I can only hope my iPhone 13 ages as well, because I don’t plan to upgrade until it’s no longer supported by iOS or dies of natural/accidental causes.
My guess is they’re pushing more and more tasks to the neural engine which first appeared on the iPhone X/8 so they pushed quickly to get there. The a12 had a way more powerful neural engine than the a11 so I think that’s why the XS, XR will get iOS 18 and maybe 19.
I’m hoping this is true. If it’s not than that confirms that apple has fallen into some sort of anti consumer pattern if not already considering there doesn’t need to be a rush for neural features. I’m sure people would want longer app compatibility than that.
I have a 7 as my secondary phone and it’s running so well. I had to replace the battery but it’s still a great phone. My son has one too and there’s been no problems with that one either.
@@kelsormjaquan I have an LG G6 (2017), and it's way laggier and choppier than my iphone 7 plus. And sure, it's usable but can't say it's "perfectly" usable.
@@kelsormjaquan We have a few old S7 and 3T as backup phones in our shop and they are borderline unusable. Everything is slow and the touch response is all over the place. The onePlus 3T that we have has multiple green lines right in the middle of the screen. We use them for the most basic task like picking calls and sending text. Anything else and they are not at all good. The iphone 6s that we have on the other hand works flawlessly allbeit with a battery replacement done 2 years ago.
@@kelsormjaquan hopefully the next SE usurps what the Mini was. Small phones are viable again because of nonexistent bezels and it bums me out how Apple were the only big players that seemed to realize that but the sales just weren't there. An SE without the iPhone 6 design would be killer.
I have recently upgraded from my iPhone 7 because it only had 64 gigs and after having it since launch my phone was suffering but I loved everything about it.
I saw the keynote for the iPhone 7 when I was in LA so it was nice to finally see a keynote at 10 AM instead of 1 PM. When they showed off portrait mode on the iPhone 7 Plus, I was blown away and wanted to try it out even thought I bought into the rumors of an all screen iPhone in development so I decided to wait for next year. I didn’t plan on getting an iPhone 7 Plus but once my iPhone 6 Plus had the Touch IC issue, I ended up getting an iPhone 7 Plus (which I thought of as a temporary phone) and it was amazing. Went across the country with that phone along with having some of my best and worst moments of my life, all in a span of 2 and a half years. Ended up trading it in for an iPhone 11 Pro Max (which I still use, for now) but it was one of the best phones I had. Also, I had it in Jet Black which is the best color of any Apple product. How I wish I could get a Jet Black iPhone 15 Pro Max and MacBook Pro.
The iPhone 7 Plus was one of my favorite phones, and also one I had a ton of issues with funny enough. The design and features were pretty amazing for their time. Mine was in that matte black which is still one of my favorite colors that they've ever come out with. I did buy it in July, meaning it was only a few months till the 8:00 which I would have probably preferred due to the fact that it got OIS in the telephoto lens and a few other small features. But I was still pretty happy with my 7 plus for the few years I had it. The stereo speakers are really nice and were much louder than this single mono from the bottom but I felt like the eight did balance it a lot better. However not all was perfect as when I upgraded to iOS 11 it cost a bunch of apps to act very strangely and unfortunately killed my battery life also causing my phone to turn into a Hot Pocket. After a few weeks Apple did fix the issue with an update but I never got the same battery life since and it might have damaged something internally. Also losing the headphone jack was pretty lame. I had a lot of wired headphones and was pretty frustrated with that announcement especially the way that they went about it. It's funny since only a few years later that same old analog port would return to the Mac pro lol.
I used a iPhone 7 32gb for 3 years from 2019 to summer 2022 and was a solid phone. I upgraded to a SE2020 because it’s same platform near enough other than a more modern chip however it broke down after 18 months. I got purchased my 7 back from a friend and honestly it’s still a good phone if you change some settings to increase performance and make sure to keep at least 10/20% of storage space free to stop any throttling. As a user that just games occasionally and doesn’t use social media or camera app much I don’t really see the reason to upgrade for a while. This phone has been overheated, dropped , left in the sun and still tanks it. Yet my SE2 was glitching out, over heating to point of shutdown for hours and numerous software problems on iOS 17 this is a better device imo Edit:iOS 15 is still receiving security updates (I think until 18 releases in sept. And I’d recommend buying a 10,000mah power bank and your all set)
I made the switch back to android after I started buying my own phones. I was getting tired of how locked down and non-customizable iOS was. However, I can no longer access the family plan with apple music and everything, so my mom handed me down her old iPhone 7... in 2020. It's shocking just how well it still runs to this day for the purpose I use it for.
the removal of headphone jack is blessing in disguise for audiophile, as finally others produce the similar dongle and we can just replace the provided one with a better sounding one if needed.
I remember the iPhone 7 launch well. In 2016 my 16gb 4S was definitely needing to be replaced. I had been reading about a major new iPhone on the tech rumor sites, that turned out to actually be the X, and instead this underwhelming phone was announced. I bought the SE instead and decided to wait for the next big redesign.
I bought the SE in 2016 as well and I still have it. It’s still a pretty usable phone. I detested the iPhone 7 at the time. The thing most people did in 2016 and early 2017 was either buy the 6s for cheaper that’s the same but better cause it has a headphone jack or buy the SE if you want a small phone and the 5/5s for budget users.
@@9852323 I still have my 64gb SE, but it is boxed up. It was a good little phone, but I only used it for two years before replacing it with the iPhone XS. I thought about getting a 6s in 2016 but the price was quite a bit higher than the SE and Apple didn't offer it in a 64gb model so I would have had to spend even more money getting the 128gb version.
I recently purchased a refurbished iPhone SE 2020 for around $150 it has a brand new battery and has not a single scratch on it (literally). It is from Reebelo. I am so happy to have it, it’s the perfect size has that classic design and the home button with Touch ID. Its battery life is amazing and I would recommend buying it.
Am watching this, cuz I want to use my 15 (regular one) for atleast 5 years and maybe even 7years or more, to make sure it can run somewhat well. I dont play so much games anymore, rather a little social media, and regular calls/text messages. Hoping that app support continues to be a thing for maybe 3years after the support ends.
I had the iPhone 6 when I was 19 years old and kept it for a long time and upgraded to the iPhone 7 and kept it when I was 20 or 21 years old until 2021 when I was 27 years old. That iPhone 7 was indeed iconic!
I think the reason Apple stopped support was because of the lack of RAM - my father‘s 7 was getting quite slow and it would miss notifications, whereas my 7+ would fly until it’s retirement (despite being bought a year earlier). It doesn’t explain why the 8/8+ were still allowed to update though.
My 6s,7 and 8 all run perfectly fine for me with 2gb ram. I wouldn’t go any lower than that though. My regular 6 is usable for most apps but it’s pretty slow with only 1gb ram.
The iPhone 7 plus was my favorite phone I ever had. I still whip it out of my drawer every now and then to see how it's doing and it's still pretty snappy. I loved it so much.
I remember it being a nice jump from my iPhone C back in the day. Now I have the SE2 so, I’ve had the same form factor for quite some time & likely still a long time to go since it looks like my next will be the SE3
I bought an iPhone 7 new in 2016 and gave it to my dad 2 years later when I upgraded to a XS, he’s still using it although the speaker is getting a bit worn out. The plan is to move him to a SE this year
With the exception of MagSafe, 3D Touch was the last great thing the Apple did on the iPhone like truly game changing, and for some reason they had to disable it if I had an iPhone 7 my phone would still have the hardware for 3-D touch but I would not be able to use it because Apple turned it off the software version of 3-D touch that is built into modern iPhones pails. In comparison it’s finicky and inconsistent. I do love MagSafe, but with all sincerity nothing, Apple has done to the iPhone line has been nearly as good as hardware 3-D introduced with the iPhone 7
I absolutely loved my iPhone 7 until 2022 when i replaced the battery of my iPhone 7 as it had dropped till 76% and was constantly dying so i replaced it from an authorised service centre for ₹3000 and after a week i started noticing some network issues i thought it was a fault in sim card by after 2 days it started showing no service when i transferred the sim to another phone it was working perfectly fine so i took my phone back to the service centre and he told me that it is having baseband ic problem and said that as it is hongkong varient (as i bought it from hongkong) he cannot repair it so then i have to sell it for like ₹4000 to a local shop That ₹3000 battery replacement was a total waste of money for me And i now realise that ₹4000 for my perfectly good condition almost brand new 7 was not fair As there wese not even a single scratch on the screen or back it was in mint condition Only problem was ic But anyways bow its been 1.5 years since i sold it and i still miss it🤧🤧 One of the best iPhone ❤
Still using it to this day... had it for more than 5 years now, battery life is painfully bad, its on its second battery and still drains pretty fast just using spotify. I wish I had the 128gb version, 32gb is not enough if you count ios files, a couple of important apps and some videos... I'll upgrade once whatsapp no longer supports it (or something breaks), im not a fan of upgrading for no reason...
I loved my iPhone 7 Plus. I think red and white looked better than black and red. I was worried about them removing the headphone jack and the physical home button, but it didn't matter. I upgraded to my current iPhone 11 product red 4 years ago and plan to run it into the ground. I hope Apple comes out with another red iPhone when I need to upgrade.
I’ve since retired my iPhone 8 Plus to get an iPhone 13 Pro Max when it was released. The 8 still works fine to this day even if it can’t update to the latest iOS anymore.
I used my 7 plus for 6 years upto 2023. That phone was tank. Only reason I changed it was because it crushed by a car and was still working perfectly fine after a screen and camera replacement. Camera still miles better than most mid range android phones with 4 and 5 cameras. Could still play games. Probably one of the best overall phones I’ve ever used.
I recently bought a jet black 7 plus on eBay, I use it for my at home, disconnect from the world phone for games and such. Still amazing phones with decent battery and camera
I still use iPhone 7 to this day. It still does its job perfectly. Apps are working fine, camera is good (but not great), and what I really like about it - it's small.
Literally had a 7 until 2021 until I got an 11 which was actually shoddy as hell and then got a 13 pro and have been happy with it since then waiting to upgrade until I really need to. The 7 was really really reliable
I kept my iPhone 7 Plus for 5 years until I dropped it and it broke (could no longer hear people during phone calls). I couldn’t find anyone to fix it. I was heartbroken 💔 I loooved that phone!
Finally someone who speaks the truth about the duration you get out of all apple devices. You can easily use the same MacBook for 7-15 years and you get some kind of support for them for like 10 years, and then if you really want to, it's easy to get new updates on older devices. And the iPhones are no different. They last forever and they give the best bang for the buck, especially on the used market. I save way more money than my PC/Android friends because my phone still works 7 years later. The whole "battery gate" suit was such BS. Bunch of ill-informed people spinning things out of control, when in reality the only thing apple 'lost against' was that they were 'guilty' for not explaining to the general public why their phones were lasting them longer, but getting 'slower'. Uhhhh, it's because otherwise those phones would have been unusable and would be shutting off due to low voltage issues in aging batteries. The change how to how the performance of the phone would downgrade in tandem with the battery when it was at very low voltages that would otherwise undervolt the device to the point of automatic shutdown.
I’m still using an iPhone 7, it takes better selfies than my 14 Pro Max, as you’re able to manually switch off the HDR and the post processing doesn’t make me age 10 years in 1 second in photos, still having no issues with calling from it, the only downside is battery which you can get some modified versions bigger than OG iPhone 7 battery for it these days, it’s still holding up very well.
Good video but that shaky cam effect with less than 5 seconds intervals between them feel like you’re trying to dangle it like a key and like I’m a toddler with 0 attention span
I upgraded this is from a 7plus to a 12. The craziest part is that both my 7plus and my 12 have the same amount of storage (128gb). When i compared my 7 to my friends other samsungs from 2016… mann the difference
I actually just ordered an iPhone 7 since it was my first new iPhone, and it still has the best camera on any phone i've ever seen for daytime photography, often better than even my 13 Pro.
I’m sure the cause of the software drop is because A9 and A10 chipset devices had 4” devices running. Maybe Apple wanted to kill support for those but it would not make sense because it has the same chipset as the larger sized iPhones. iPadOS is also basically the same but the naming is what made it separated from the chipset side iykyk
The 7 Plus was the first iphone📱 I owned that I was not rushing to upgrade. I kept using it for 3 years before upgrading to the 12 Pro Max. The 7 Plus had everything I needed from a Phone.
I still remember when the iPhone 7 came out, I was using a iPhone 6 at the time and was angered by the removal of the headphone jack. I still am to this day, with me switching to Samsung after I replaced my iPhone 6 after 5 years of trusty service. I ended up getting a S10e, which still has a headphone jack and SD card slot. Then I upgraded to a XCover6 Pro, which is basically a S10e (processors perform the same, same out of RAM and storage) with a larger screen, 5G cellular connectivity, headphone jack, SD card slot, and user removable battery.
I got a 7 Plus for my birthday back in 2020. It was good and held up for 3 years until it was unfortunately stolen from me 😢. I sinced upgraded to 11 which is also an awesome phone but I will still miss my old 7 plus
I know it's a decent phone otherwise, but the fact that the iPhone 7 started the trend of removing the headphone jack makes it my least favorite smartphone of all time, released right after my favorite iPhone, the 2016 SE. In 2022, I was looking for a new flagship with a headphone jack and expandable storage and only one single brand still made such a smartphone. And yes, I know that there were smartphones without a headphone jack before the iPhone 7, including the very first android phone, but none of those started this trend.
Every iPhone I ever upgraded: iPhone 5C, 2013 (first iPhone I ever own, crazy) ❤ - also still turns on 10 years later, usability not so much iPhone 7 product red, December 2016 (totally broken, shattered camera & screen and bloated battery💀) iPhone 11, March 2020 💀💀💀 (current) - still works
It was my second smartphone. after my dad realized that my iPhone 5s needed to be fixed and it cost a lot of money, He decided to buy me iPhone 7 with 32GB around February 2017. I moved to iPhone SE2 around July 2020, and this one used to just sit on the corner of my desk. and recently, my brother broke his iPhone 13 and we needed a spare phone otherwise he couldn't do anything like checking bus time and daily activities that he used to, just for a week though. And it did its job. hahaha. Now it's in my brothers hand in case he will broke his phone again, but I wish I can have it back.
what apple does really good is their products are very timeless. even after 10+ years, my ipod video still works like new, and doesn’t look outdated at all. that’s crazy.
i had a 7 more then any other phone i've used. best phone for a decent price.. i've also broke many 7s. decided to double up and get a 14.. next upgrade will be in 7 phones... but my 7 was legendary.. loved that phone.
Still rocking an ip 7 plus since its launch. Replaced the battery last year and I'll probably keep using it until all apps that I use stops being supported.
Always been happy for the headphones jack to be removed, we have a stable bluetooth technique and all kinds of headphones (true wireless earbuds, classic headphones, necklace earbuds)
I have friends still using the iPhone 7. To them it meets their needs -- calls, texts, emails and GPS. They're not upgrading until their phones will no longer work. Maybe somewhere down the line if they decide to upgrade, probably to stay on iPhone, most likely I'd suggest they go on the SE 2022 (hopefully the price is cheaper).
In spite of the iPhone 7 headphone jack was removed, Scott from Strange Parts channel modded his iPhone 7 and added a headphone jack. and also added wireless charging in his iPhone 7.
iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black is my first iPhone that I bought in 2017. It still works extremely well and the only change I had to do was the battery which I replaced last year. I am finally gonna switch to iPhone 15 but I will definitely use 7 plus as my second phone. Gonna miss the home button as well 😂.
I personally feel that if you had iPhone 4, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 11 and iPhone 15 Pro Max and upgrade in this manner, you did and had the best bang for the buck upgrade.
No headphone port also could have helped in providing larger battery sizes but idk maybe not. I know the eventual 3D touch removal was for that (which I actually loved on my 6s)
I absolutely LOVED my iPhone 7 Plus I got a refurbished one in black with 32GB for a solid price and it was amazing The cameras, screen, performance, everything about it 'WOW'ed me Sure, the lack of headphone jack wasn't great, but using the dongle didn't bother me as it gave me the option to use wired earphones at the very least, it could have been so much worse and nowadays it isn't that big of a deal (I'm not saying it's good but it's not the end of the world)
I bought my Iphone 7 the week after launch, and only retired it in March 2023 due to battery issues. Other than then getting the battery replaced in 2019 its been a good run. Of course I fought the lack of a headphone jack for a long while by buying a bluetooth dongle for my car/wired headphones, before finally caving and buying galaxy buds pro last year. Even now I still use the bluetooth dongle even though my car has bluetooth now, but the experience of AUX just cant be matched...
Depending on whether you need the latest OS, Samsung phones range from 4-5 years of security patch support. The S7 was supported for five years. I had the Note 9 and remember getting a patch in 2022. I had my Note 9 stolen, so I don’t know if it got any more updates. For the most part, if you are the average consumer, the average update cycle is around two to three years. As people hold onto their flagship devices for longer, it makes sense to increase the number of years of support. Sometimes it’s better to drop support. I remember my iPhone 5s running poorly after the latest update.
i made close to 10k $ repairing audio IC issue on this model, and people are still coming to repair it, cool to see that they are still being used. Thanks Apple
My brother gave me his iPhone 11 as a gift. I need to cherish this model even if the iPhones 11,12,13,14 and 15 exists now, there is something in it that I'm still excited hahaha.

Same. But mine is full of scratches 😂
That would have been a huge difference
I did the exact same! Loved my 7 Plus, now I’m loving the upgrade to the 15 PM. Even though I miss 3D touch
You should’ve upgraded last year when the 14 Pro Max came out. You missed iOS 16
Omg I loved the haptic feedback for home button in my iPhone 8 Plus. I miss that phone
Buy a used 1
@@ousmanebarry7909nah, it’s better he buys a used 2
Early iPhones up to the iPhone X had their own personality in design. Now you can hardly tell the difference between the 11-15
probably due to the theory that Apple only makes big design changes each 10 years or something
A10 was supposedly that much faster than the previous. But my iPhone SE 1 performed in real world experience better than my 7. Probably to do with the smaller display.
Yea, gotta wonder how much of the yearly improvement for this stuff is mainly just marketing hype from Apple
The speed difference between the A9 and A10 is near 0. You’re better off the the 6s.
One of if not my all time fav. Phone. Have had several of them over the years, tried others, but kept comming back to it. Especially during pandemic. Loved the button, now on the se2022.
I prefer SE1 and 6s
My mom used a 5C for years upgrading an Ancient Android with Android 2.3. Then have used an iPhone 7 for years. It’s amazing that she has had only 2 phones in 10 years and haven’t felt like she is missing anything. With security updates for another year or two she will likely keep the 7 for at least a couple of more years. You can’t really do that with Android.
"You can’t really do that with Android." dude what? You can keep an android device for many years just the same as with an apple product.
@@BonusCrookSamsung devices receive less overall software updates than iPhones, the latest iOS is available for longer on older iPhones compared to the latest version from Samsung. Samsung and Google have been working on this, as mentioned in the video. I do like both Android and iOS regardless.
@@BonusCrookI think he’s talking about the security updates part
@@gliderman9302 the 7 doesnt get security updates anymore tho
@@BonusCrook it could get more like the iPhone 5S and 6 did until January 2023 (starting in September 2019)
Anytime I see an iPhone retrospective and it’s got 91 tech. I automatically click on it. I think there’s some of the best on CZcams. I had the iPhone 7 jet black 128 gig. It was the last iPhone I felt comfortable rocking without a case even though I’ve never broke one from dropping it, I miss the aluminum back don’t really care about wireless charging even though I do use it on a daily basis I could live without it
Lot of nostalgia for this era of Apple, I had the silver one I miss those simpler days lol
The battery life was terrible by the end, due to 6.5 years of heavy use, but it was still able to do everything you’d realistically need from a modern phone and just missed newer “features.”
I got to see that phone progress through an almost 7 year life cycle and it is amazing how well it aged.
They won’t get iOS 19.
It's a perfectly usable phone in 2024. It's crazy but i can't say the same for other 2016 smartphones.
Yes so is the 6s. I daily drive a 6s even though I have an X and SE3
I have recently upgraded from my iPhone 7 because it only had 64 gigs and after having it since launch my phone was suffering but I loved everything about it.
Im a proud user of iPhone 7 in matte black. Then upgraded to XR and now 13
I’m on the 5s trying to upgrade to iPhone 7 😢
Yet my SE2 was glitching out, over heating to point of shutdown for hours and numerous software problems on iOS 17 this is a better device imo
Edit:iOS 15 is still receiving security updates (I think until 18 releases in sept. And I’d recommend buying a 10,000mah power bank and your all set)
What's crazy is that I still to this day use the 7 I haven't upgraded to any of the new iphones
Same and it works like in day 1, except the battery... but yesterday I ordered a new phone.
it's good that they took away the headphone Jack because now everything's Wireless💯
You should do a retrospective on the iPhone X.
the removal of headphone jack is blessing in disguise for audiophile, as finally others produce the similar dongle and we can just replace the provided one with a better sounding one if needed.
The ip67 rating set the absolute standard for me. After that, I refused to buy any phone that did not have ip67 or better.
I kept a 6s plus for until 2022 and now I have a 12. I miss the headphone jack.
Some carriers have brand new SE 3’s for $150
What’s Reebelo like what country?
Jet black was peak color. 👌🏻
The most luxurious color ever so far. 😮💨
I think security updates are more important than os updates .
Haven't truly loved an iPhone since the 5.
i got this phone when i was 7 yrs old. it was in a case and was signed in to my icloud. i had fun with it.
I still have my iPhone 7 jet black to this day. I love it so much.
It's quite funny though that removing the headphone jack did not produce a good change, especially for the environment.
I absolutely loved my iPhone 7 until 2022 when i replaced the battery of my iPhone 7 as it had dropped till 76% and was constantly dying so i replaced it from an authorised service centre for ₹3000 and after a week i started noticing some network issues i thought it was a fault in sim card by after 2 days it started showing no service when i transferred the sim to another phone it was working perfectly fine so i took my phone back to the service centre and he told me that it is having baseband ic problem and said that as it is hongkong varient (as i bought it from hongkong) he cannot repair it so then i have to sell it for like ₹4000 to a local shop
That ₹3000 battery replacement was a total waste of money for me
And i now realise that ₹4000 for my perfectly good condition almost brand new 7 was not fair
As there wese not even a single scratch on the screen or back it was in mint condition
Only problem was ic
But anyways bow its been 1.5 years since i sold it and i still miss it🤧🤧
One of the best iPhone ❤
currently watching this video on my iphone7 😅
Still using it to this day... had it for more than 5 years now, battery life is painfully bad, its on its second battery and still drains pretty fast just using spotify. I wish I had the 128gb version, 32gb is not enough if you count ios files, a couple of important apps and some videos... I'll upgrade once whatsapp no longer supports it (or something breaks), im not a fan of upgrading for no reason...
This is still my phone for music ...
loved the Sonic 3 Ice cap zone music in the background
Small by todays standards yeah. Back in the day it would’ve been considered big.
Literally had a 7 until 2021 until I got an 11 which was actually shoddy as hell and then got a 13 pro and have been happy with it since then waiting to upgrade until I really need to. The 7 was really really reliable
7+ was my first iPhone. Mostly the hardware. Ok ok mostly the courage.
I have a regular 7 here somewhere still, too.
My iPhone 6 and 7 were my favorite phone to hold in the hand
I kept my iPhone 7 Plus for 5 years until I dropped it and it broke (could no longer hear people during phone calls). I couldn’t find anyone to fix it. I was heartbroken 💔
I loooved that phone!
Yeah phones change slower now.
I actually just ordered an iPhone 7 since it was my first new iPhone, and it still has the best camera on any phone i've ever seen for daytime photography, often better than even my 13 Pro.
As much as I do enjoy using iPhones, I still use my Zenfone 9 as a daily phone. One of those reasons is that it still has a headphone jack.
wdym "still"? the zenfone 9 is barely a year old 😂
I’m sure the cause of the software drop is because A9 and A10 chipset devices had 4” devices running. Maybe Apple wanted to kill support for those but it would not make sense because it has the same chipset as the larger sized iPhones. iPadOS is also basically the same but the naming is what made it separated from the chipset side iykyk
I want a mini 15 or 16. With dynamic island. That's all, the size is perfect.
Lol at Miyamoto casually not clapping in the front row at around 15:30.
And yes, I know that there were smartphones without a headphone jack before the iPhone 7, including the very first android phone, but none of those started this trend.
i had a Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus and it was one of my favorite iPhones ever
Every iPhone I ever upgraded:
iPhone 5C, 2013 (first iPhone I ever own, crazy) ❤ - also still turns on 10 years later, usability not so much
iPhone 7 product red, December 2016 (totally broken, shattered camera & screen and bloated battery💀)
iPhone 11, March 2020 💀💀💀 (current) - still works
Still have an iPhone 7 Plus that I bought in December 2016 and still at 76% battery health after all these years.
I swear Phil Schiller’s nose grew during this keynote 😂
16:05 that Ant was the main articles of this video.
what apple does really good is their products are very timeless. even after 10+ years, my ipod video still works like new, and doesn’t look outdated at all. that’s crazy.
i had a 7 more then any other phone i've used. best phone for a decent price.. i've also broke many 7s. decided to double up and get a 14.. next upgrade will be in 7 phones... but my 7 was legendary.. loved that phone.
Still rocking an ip 7 plus since its launch. Replaced the battery last year and I'll probably keep using it until all apps that I use stops being supported.
My favorite iPhone , stereo speakers was a game changer
Bought my 2nd hand 7 plus in 2021 still running good.

Hey is that Shigeru Miyamoto?
For my first iPhone I Used it all through 2020-2021 it was a Solid for me never failed be
No headphone port also could have helped in providing larger battery sizes but idk maybe not. I know the eventual 3D touch removal was for that (which I actually loved on my 6s)
I absolutely LOVED my iPhone 7 Plus
I got a refurbished one in black with 32GB for a solid price and it was amazing
The cameras, screen, performance, everything about it 'WOW'ed me
Sure, the lack of headphone jack wasn't great, but using the dongle didn't bother me as it gave me the option to use wired earphones at the very least, it could have been so much worse and nowadays it isn't that big of a deal (I'm not saying it's good but it's not the end of the world)
I bought my Iphone 7 the week after launch, and only retired it in March 2023 due to battery issues.
TBH wired for headphone OR aux is just less of a hassle than Bluetooth.
15:37 is that….. meamoto! Super Mario?! Mr Nintendo.
