- Just a walk on the beach scored me 8 beautiful Yoopers! These are syenite rocks with fluorescent sodalite inclusions, known as Yooperlites, named after the Upper Peninsula (U.P.) of Michigan where they were made popular. People from this region are known as Yoopers. These rocks are basically granite without much quartz in them. They glow under black light. These examples were found in Lake Michigan near Milwaukee. They are quite uncommon.

@@wisconsingoldrush8270 Lake Superior..Ontonogin / Porcupine Mountain beach area..You can pull it up on Google Maps...Great area for gold prospecting along the beach too.
It's been a while since I've went Yooperlite hunting. I need to get back out there and get some more!
Let me know if you get out this way! I love rock hunting and digging with people
Fantastic haul!
Thanks! It's an absolute blast to hunt!
Great finds! I live way up North of you, great luck hunting!
Those are some cool rocks man..
Thanks! I always find one just when I'm about to give up
I love how excited you are!!! Makes me really want to get out to that area!! It’s on my list for august stops!
August is my birthday month! Hit me up! Let's find some rocks!
@@wisconsingoldrush8270 I might do that when it gets closer. We are making a drive from Utah to New York and just going to stop a few places on the way like Lake Michigan since we will drive right through Chicago. Although do you find any yoopers on south end of the lake?!
@@RufotrisRootedRockhound They have been found in the Milwaukee and Chicago areas yes. Most people think they only occur in Lake Superior, but anywhere the glaciers dropped material could contain them. The big lakes rinse off lots of rocks for us to look at it
Awesome, Ill get some one day to slab and cab and polish..
Dude, one of the largest ones I found has a lot of glowing right in the middle. I thought it would be fun to find someone who wanted to cut it. I'm offering it to you first! I would love to see how it looks cut and polished! I'll send it to you free if you want to cut it on your Channel
@@wisconsingoldrush8270 what!!! Yes I'll make a video on that one, I'll also have a chance to check it for short wave UV it's even more different 🤠Wow thanks Mike✌⚒⚒⚒🍀🍻
@@wisconsingoldrush8270 yeah there is no telling what's on the inside, I will send you the best slab out of the cuts🤠✌

@@BenzoGold79 Awesome! I'll send it out, and I look forward to seeing what's inside!
Great finds man that was awesome maybe next time show some excitement 🤣🤣🤣
My expression can be pretty dull sometimes
LOL
Wow, great hunt bud, those rocks are very cool.
Congrats on the winner, id be interested to see what one of those looks like cut and polished
I'm sending a big one to Benzo and he is going to cut and polish it! Might be a couple weeks but we should keep an eye out for that!
@@wisconsingoldrush8270 sick
@@VendettaProspecting Would you want to smelt one to see if there's gold in them? I've got one that only glows on half of it. I was going to smash it up and pan it out, but if you want to smelt it, let me know!
@@wisconsingoldrush8270 im down to give it a roast! Lol
@@VendettaProspecting Nice! Email me an address to send it to at Wisconsingoldrush@gmail.com and I'll mail it out to ya!
Good job, those are some great finds. I am here in Owatonna MN. I hope to go up around Duluth and hopefully find some.
They come from the glaciers, so anywhere where there's rocks is good to look!
@@wisconsingoldrush8270 check out Rattlesnake Randy and I was in one of his latest videos. Gold teeth lol
I found my first yooperlite in Racine. Not real big but a real banger. Thank you for telling us about these.
Hey that's awesome! Doesn't it feel amazing when you see it light up? How long did you have to look to find it?
@@wisconsingoldrush8270 30 minutes before the cop made me leave. Park closed at 9pm
I thought it was an orange ear plug at first
@@sowdiem6047 wow that's really glowy! Amazing how all the junk tricks you.
Hi Mike , great video and awesome haul on the yoopers.I was thinking of trying to find some down by Cudahy or South Milwaukee maybe one night this week
Hey we should hunt together! I'm down for any evening!
Email me wisconsingoldrush@gmail.com and we should make a plan! I haven't tried looking in Cudahy yet!
Nice yupperlights im going to give that a try
Its such a thrill to find them!
That awesome that you found those big yooperlites. Pretty big ones. You were so excited each and every time you found one. Lol. Since I live so close to Lake Michigan I’m going to have to look for some eventually. Hopefully when I go I can find some. They have some very nice looking colors to them. Look like lava inside the rock when you shine the u.v. Light on them. Congratulations on 200 subscribers. I love watching the videos that you post on CZcams.
Let me know when you want to go! I'll show you my hotspot
@@wisconsingoldrush8270 I’m actually looking on Amazon for a u.v flashlight right now as we speak. Because I don’t have one. I think I found one that I like. It a uniquefire 501B. It is the 365nm. That’s what I guess you need to see them better then the 395. I’d like to go with you sometime and look for yooperlites and prospect for gold. That would be awesome.
@@johnrprospecting heck yes it would! And 365 is what you want. The 95 put out tons of purple light and you can't even see the rocks glow
@@wisconsingoldrush8270 did you look that flashlight up because I think it’s an LED light and not a U.V. Light
Yes that looks like a good one. As long as it puts off 365 nanometer wavelength ultraviolet light, any model should do. The brighter the better. My flashlight only goes about 6 feet
That is awesome man. If you ever want to sell any of those, let me know, I am interested in em.
I haven't decided all their fates yet lol we'll see what happens
@@wisconsingoldrush8270 I know how that goes. I do the same things with things I get. I know something will happen, but don't figure it out til later on.
@@LXRPostalProspecting Then again, you might find one in your mailbox...
@@wisconsingoldrush8270 Interesting concept, but I do like it.
We might be doing gift battles then, lol.
Hello fellow Wisconsinite
Howdy there! If you ever want to go yooperlite hunting let me know! It's a real thrill to find one!
@@wisconsingoldrush8270 definitely... the beach by me closes at 9pm and of course smokey pulled up. I showed him the one I found and he was cool about me being there at 930. However I had to leave.
What kind of light do u use? Brand?
I use a LIGHTFE UV 301d from Amazon. They're not expensive. Any flashlight that puts out 365nm UV light will work great. There are far more powerful flashlights than what I have. Avoid the 395 nm lights because they put out lots of purple light you can't see your rocks glow
@@wisconsingoldrush8270 ok ty
Nice finds!!!
