I'm Korean and I never put the hot paste (고추장) to this dish, so if you don't have the paste, don't worry, kimchi juice is enough. If your kimchi is not fermented enough, it won't taste good (better when kimchi is tangy). If that's the case, fry kimchi longer with more oil before adding rice.

@@crealizecoaching When the kimchi is too ferminented so tastes sour, just put a spoon of sugar while frying the kimch on pan, the sugar would make it less sour very well. That same goes to when making a 김찌찌개(kimchi soup).

Hi Maangchi , I wanted to say that you are a true inspiration to me in the kitchen ! I think I have watched every video you have made on youtube. I love to cook , my Mom taught me very well when it came to cooking. She was born and raised in Holland so I was raised on a large variety of different ethnic foods. From simple peasant food to Indonesian spicy food. But I have to say that I have come to love all the recipes you have shared with us. I live in Brantford Ontario , and I have to travel to Hamilton Ontario to shop in Asian Markets there to get all special ingredients to make your delicious recipes. It is so worth the drive ! I have become addicted to Kimchi , especially the rice dish you mix it with. Also my son thanks you for sharing your spicy crispy chicken wing recipe. That is all the rage in my household. Along with all his friends that eat over too , they all think I am an amazing cook. But I always give credit to you , I just tell them to watch you on youtube and they can make all these delicious recipes also. Thanks so much for taking the time to share all the wonderful dishes from your culture. If ever you are in Brantford Ontario , please contact me and maybe we can cook up a storm together in my home !

Sunday I had went to a Korean restaurant with two of my friends and ordered Kimchi friend rice and one of my friends ordered side dishes. It was my first time having kimchi and I fell in love. When I took a bite of my kimchi fried rice, it was the best feeling I ever had. :D I have to say Korean food has to be my favorite food. I can't wait to go back to the supermarket that was a small walk away from it to buy ingredients. I will def try your recipes :D I enjoy your videos.

Thank you Maanchi! I've learned so much! So far I've made kimchi, kimchi fried rice, kimchi pancake, spicy rice cake, Korean fried chicken, Bibimbap. I've taken the kimchi and added it to noodles with lots of seafood. Can't wait to make more recipes!!

Thanks for this delicious recipe--it's so easy. I made it with homemade baek kimchee and then added plenty of hot pepper paste, and it was tasty and just medium spicy, which my family likes. A few days later I made a scramble with the leftover rice, some eggs, fresh baby spinach and some ground beef leftovers, and it was such a delicious, thrifty quick meal. You are really a wonderful inspiration Maangchi!

I made kimchi fried rice today using a store bought packet of kimchi, an onion, a bag of egg fried microwave rice, soy sauce and sesame seeds; topped with a soft boiled egg! I have to say I was thoroughly impressed and it tasted delicious! I'm definitely going to make my own kimchi now so I can have a large supply and make this whenever I want!!
