- How to make an epoxy resin table in your shop using half the epoxy. We all know how expensive epoxy can be, so I came up with a way to get the same look of a table twice as thick while using half the resin. I have never seen this done with an epoxy table before, but people have been doing it forever with granite and marble countertops. Not only does it save a lot of money, but it saves a lot of weight. In this video I show you how to make the entire table, not just this bull-nose trick too.

been binging all of your videos and you saying “if you’ve already seen me explain how to make one of these tables and just want to see the edge trick you can skip ahead” made me laugh, as if i’m not gonna eagerly sit here and watch you explain it and show it to me 1200 times, i don’t think you understand how much i will re-watch the entire process ad infinitum 😭
I love that you invest in the legs. Makes a huge difference. I have seen cheap legs that lower the quality. Yours raises the bar. 5 stars!
I agree with you. Not having proper legs on a table "TO ME" can drastically raise the value of your project or cheep legs drop the value of a project. it is like having a VERA WANG make a dress for someone but then the model is wearing dirty old tennis shoes when modeling the dress ( well in todays world of clothes modeling that may be considered CHIC but you get my drift ) .
If I spent 10k on a wooden fancy table and it was on 10 buck legs I'd be upsetty spaghetti
Click click save, great thickness cheater trick. I just wanted to say thank you for your openness and honesty in all of your videos. Sharing your tricks tips and mistakes along your way. Keep doing Cam.
I appreciate the fact that you are self-deprecating with a sense of humor in the face of sometimes rude or overly critical comments. Really enjoy your channel.
I find your videos by far the best on YT. I’m an experienced woodworker (over 40 years) and think I can say that you do everything in that difficult balance between perfection and yet still needing to make a profit. Perfection takes so much time that you end up working for nothing; “good enough” is never good enough.
I don’t see any other maker go into such detail about each step; the method and the reason plus taking the time to list out everything used. For instance, I suspect many YT people would not tell us where to buy those legs but keep it to themselves. That really annoys me - I don’t like videos which just say “look how great I am”; yours say “here is what I do; here is how I do it and here is what I use”
I’m not a great fan personally of heavily refined pieces. However, I do accept that they are a great way to use pieces of timber which otherwise would be scrap. People like them at the moment but fashion is a nebulous beast. I don’t know what will happen when the fashion changes.
Please maintain the very high standard of your videos. The quality of camera work enhances the quality of the work you show.
Wow, thanks so much for that!
Just stumbled on your page a month ago as I've begun to set up my shop and get into woodworking. I'm amazed how you turn what you call "blemishes" into almost unnoticeable yet unique notes in your work in a way that still demonstrates complete professionalism. Basically, you make it all look really good!
This superb table, an Eames recliner chair and a glass of 18 year-old Macallan Malt Whisky. Life does not get any better. Your craftmanship is well worth every cent.
I'm 78 years old and have been doing woodworking for many years, yet I learn something from your videos every time I watch them. You are an amazing craftsman. Thank you for your videos.
The bow tie adds just a touch of imperfection to the perfect table, great job
Amazing work, Cam. I love how you never try to hide when something goes wrong in your videos and how you find ways to deal with mistakes. The table came out beautiful and I think those legs are beautiful and really set off the modern feel to the project.
Love the table. you were so right about your biggest regret. THat light spot in the middle from the planar really stands out.
the natural texture of this wood is just amazing.....and u did a gud job bringin it together
I really like the technique of trimming the edges to add thickness.
Thanks Jamie!
That's a granite trick to create a bullnose profile. Never thought about it in this situation though. Nice!
@@BlacktailStudio just wondering why you apply shellac to the slab before pourng the epoxy?
@@ryanhanslo3029 he’s said in the past that it is to seal the wood so it won’t be stained by the epoxy when he pours. That way he only has to do minimal planing and sanding afterwards to have the natural wood figure and coloring exposed
@@TheHuntron2000 if the epoxy seeps into the wood, even plaining and sanding won't save it. The edges get "blurry" because the wood gets dyed black by the epoxy and there isn't a sharp line of contrast anymore
100 yrs from now I can just imagine some walnut wood and epoxy specialist doing an evaluation of the detail and workmanship on one of your tables.
Great tutorials and a pleasure to watch someone enjoy their work and produce such unique furniture.
Your this double edge reminded of my father work.. he is a marbel tiles and granite worker and for our house kitchen he did this same thing with granite and it looks seriously cool
Love those legs…absolutely the right fit for that top. Quite minimalist and contemporary ♥️
Stunning table and beautiful workmanship, very impressive
Hello from Ukraine. This is my favorite wood related DIY channel. I like your black epoxy style and the way you present what you do. I found the idea to make the table looks more massive absolutely genius. I haven't seen it before and I will definetly try it in my next project! I think it's pretty useful when you have a lack of epoxy. Thanks a lot!
The bowtie blended REALLY well!!
No word to start with? Love the book match! The black looks great! The overall design is stunning! Legs match perfectly! The bow tie, on the video wasn’t that noticeable! That being said…I’ll take it if it’s free!🤣🤣🤣
Your a class act, your content is above all and your willingness to tell it as it is on every video is refreshing. As a wannabee wood worker I can say your saving me a lot of time and $.
Pleas do not ever stop. I can't get enough of your instruction or seeing the wonderful tables you create. Semper Fi
I think it's perfect, it's one of best tables designs I have seen in a long time.
Thanks!!
I second this!
Your Tables are Beuatiful... I've never seen a Wood - Epoxy Sectional/Dividing Wall, but I'm sure it would be Amazing, or even Sliding Doors... The Colour, Grain, and the Wood combined with Epoxy is Gorgeous!
Man, I appreciate the honesty and transparency in your videos… especially the mistakes. I’m tormenting myself on where and how to get started with selling. Your videos are truly an inspiration on keeping us (me) motivated and continually learning techniques AND that it is okay to make a mistake.
Love the table cam such a beautiful piece of art/furniture nice to see someone that’s passionate about their work 👍🏼
Keep up the great work love your content
Love the table. Also love the technique for getting more out of slabs. Doing things this way you could get twice as many tables out of a single slab.
Yeah but then its a mostly epoxy table. Makes it seem cheap. But then again i dont really like anything thats not about 90% wood.
The bow tie is a nice touch - it could become your “signature” on all your pieces
Beautiful table. The legs went very well with the design.
I've been binge watching your videos and I really like this table a lot. Love the way you did the edges to double the thickness. Personal opinion on the "mistake" is that I loved the look of the mistake before you "fixed" it. I didn't see it as a flaw or mistake at all. I don't really care for the bow-tie - but that's just me.
AndyPanda9 I have to agree the fix is more glaring than the mistake as ones eye is more drawn to it than if he'd of just left it be.
I've been watching your videos for some time now and have watched most of the earlier ones. This table and the "trick" to save resin is great. I think the legs are perfect, especially if it's used as a desk.
You have inspired me to branch out from turning resin and timer pieces to making my first river table, out of walnut no less! Walnut is not so common in Australia and you have to be in the right place at the right time to get some. A friend cut some slabs for me from his walnut tree that died of old age and they've been sitting in the rack for a few years. They're a bit wormy but that adds character (doesn't it?).
Legs are nice. I think the black epoxy line looked better than the bow tie. But over all you get a 9.99999 out of 10!!!

I believe that the imperfections give it depth. Great work, hopefully one day I will be at this level.
Thanks Donald!
Great video, great epoxy trick too! You're right, the legs are perfect for the profile
This was really great Sir, I am a retired 30 year United State Marine. I do a lot of wood work such as award plaques and retirement plaques. However I have been looking to add something different that no other awards plaque person is doing. I have watched thousand of different videos of epoxy tables and hands down you the man Sir. I don't give praise lightly however Sir I salute you and your skills.
Wow, thanks man!
I like how you always do your videos like it's their first video. It helps solidify knowledge hearing it every time and really helpful for people getting the most out of every video regardless of which one they click on.
Love the table and the entire video. Great job!
Love it. And the bow tie made it even more unique. Sometimes a mistake turns out to be the best.
Thanks Vlad!
I’ve soon more than a few of your videos and they are all fantastic! The best part of this video is how you showed your mistake and how you corrected it. You don’t hide your mistakes and for me that is the mark of a real pro!
I think the legs look amazing when matched to your work. It's not the table or the legs that stand out, they become one entity and it amplifies the amazement.
This table is so beautiful. I love the modern look of the legs you chose and the book match center is gorgeous. My only curiosity is how do you carry the cost of your wood stock. These pieces are very nice and I can't believe how beautiful you make all your pieces. The attention to detail is fantastic 🙂
I normally buy each slab for each project
Hes really good 👍..he deserves every bit of money
Beautiful. I just skimmed through the comments and I want to thank you for replying to so many people and answering questions.
What I’m here for 👍🏼
I like how you explain everything so clear . Thanks
Hes awesome!!
Another outstanding project. Legs are PERFECT! Your a artist!
First timer! YES, the legs compliment your work and make it look fantastic! /TL
Welcome!
I was wanting to do something like this myself to save money. Thanks for making this video so I didn’t have to butcher a nice project now I have the step by step guide
Excellent, thanks!
I just loved that perfect imperfection.... it's like having a scar or a mole or something unique that says it's you. Beautiful!
Although I am not a woodworker by trade I do love the book ends look. I can also appreciate you supporting other vendors with your ventures. Excellent finish as always, thank you.
Looks like the Shroud of Turin. Very nice table. The legs were perfect.
beautiful work!
Wow. I'm learning so much every time i watch these videos!!. Thank you. U explain it too well. Although can you make a video on creative ideas for cutting boards?
I’ve done them in the past 👍🏼
Simply Superb the way you attached the extension at the ends and made the angle
Beautiful work! Cam. I really like how the rorschach/bookmatch effect was made slightly lessened; I often photograph placid lake and pond shorelines to achieve this effect and enjoy how the slightly distorted reflection adds a little more nuance and intrigue to the story. Most excellent content, thank you.
Beautiful table, ive been binge watching your videos the last few evenings learning alot as im going to attempt my first epoxy bartop for my basement. I really enjoy the fact that you include and point out your errors so we can all learn from them.
Thanks man!
There are no mistakes in life in my opinion, only learning moments. What I think would look really nice is IF you ever have to cover up another “Mistake”, instead of using a bowtie, you can somehow make your double X into an inlay & use it as your makers’ mark to cover it up. I don’t know if that makes any sense. The table looks absolutely amazing.
I love the way you made this even with the butterfly edge. It turned out spectacular. I went to look at the table legs and wow are there a lot of designs, you weren’t kidding. I think the ones you selected are just right for your desk. They really are stylish. And thank you for sharing the link. I usually can’t afford the legs, but omg, there is a sale $230 to $99. That is so do able for anyone. So glad for this resource. I had looked at Chinese sites, even though the standard legs are cheap and affordable the shipping is not. So, thank you very much for your videos. Very good technique, information, and diy skills.
As usual, a project finished to visual perfection! I enjoy what you do and how you make the wood scream with it’s true beauty. Myrtlewood for life!
does the epoxy resin cover the upper and down part of the wood? like wrapping all side of the wood with epoxy..?
Love the table. Just curious, do you round over the top lip after cutting in the chamfer?
I did actually. 1/8” bit
The legs are perfect, you are so good about teaching us as you make your designs, errors and all. That says a lot about you. Keep creating and posting.
Gorgeous table; love the finish, the way to make it look thicker, and the legs are the perfect set. It would look equally beautiful on the wall.
This work is really amazing. I want to start a workshop of my own. Mind if I try this type of work and want to know how to prepare this epoxy solutions and their types. Please do let me know. Thanks 😊
You don't need anyone's permission to copy these techniques. Go try it for yourself! :)
Oh, and dont open a shop if you dont know how do to the things youre promoting in your shop
Why don't you try doing some research, reading helps and so does the multiple videos he's posted. Everybody wants handouts these days and don't want to do anything on their own. Might as well ask the guy to make the item for you too.
That is awesome! I have an unrelated question regarding the bin you store your sanding discs in: what brand is it and where might I find one? Thanks!
Check the video description 👍🏼👍🏼
I’d hang it on the wall as an abstract art. Stunning.
I love the grain in the wood and the end result is wow
My name is taha I am from Jordan , Middle East your voice was loud and clear plus understandable thank you so much I appreciate what you did it was perfect to me I wish we can see more from you and please say hi to your wife
I just did for you
That's just lovely ❤
Love the table. Didn't look like a mistake to me. Instead of a wood bow tie what if you did an epoxy bow tie? Or some kind of trade mark with your shop name? The legs are an excellent addition and just enhances the over all table look. Beautiful work as usual.
How would you even do that? Sounds unrealistic
So some of my favorite work, video production, honesty, speed of delivery… I love the technical out: forward to the info if that’s what we want. You’re work isn’t cheesy, it’s clean and minimal, your mistakes are highlighted. Slick, amigo. Thanks so much.
I recently came across your video and the table came out absolutely superb! The leg set selection enhances the job. Great choice!
Too bad on the planing out a lot of the book matching, great lesson to learn, thank you for teaching us from your mistakes!
Nice trick, however it's possible to see a mirror pattern on the sides.
I say that because I saw you doing it :) and if I didn't see it I probably wouldn't have noticed.
Yeah, the only thing I would have done differently here, would be to get the very ends of the timber vertical, so that when cut off and flipped the vertical edge would carry through to the underside..
That would be as easy as marking a line, cutting it back half an inch or so, and then hand shaping from the cut out to the live edge..
Love your enthusiasm in doing your work! I'm a working musician who compose and arrange music, your videos always inspire me to work passionately for my jobs.:)
I think the bow tie on the end was a great idea. Gives it a lot of character. Looks great! 👍
Love the legs. LOVE thickness on the edges and the 30-degree chamfer. A sophisticated look.
Love the top and the legs and also the combo matched imo. Probably one of my favourite tables from CZcams so far.
Wow. Thanks so much for sharing your "mistakes" and how you fix them. There are so many perfection videos out there, which are great for entertainment but don't really show you what's real and how to think outside the box to deal with the inevitable breakdowns in any major project. THIS is what I really need to learn to help me build this house I've wanted to build for the past 30 years. You can bet there will be a hella lot of "breakdowns" throughout that process! Best to learn how to keep my composure and get down to the business of sorting them out as efficiently as possible, so thanks for sharing that process you go through in your work.
Those table legs really was a great finish to the beautiful table design...
The legs compliment the bevel very well. Looks elegant. Fantastic!
I don't love the legs. I typically lean rustic. This table is beautiful. I find myself watching this video every couple of months and find myself thinking of this table randomly. Great work!
Oh thanks!
Black is the new black. Love the black against the timber's beautiful hues. You make me want to spend more on workshop machinery than I have room for. :)
Cam, really liked the camphor and the way the legs complimented it this video reminds me of the joy of walnut with its contrast figure AND the dark black epoxy edge - with those legs it is perfect!
I am hooked on your videos / work. This table is a beauty, love the mirror image of itself. The bow tie worked beautifully. A stunning finish with great legs!!
Love all that you do and teach us the way you do all your projects. Can't get enough. and a list of the products you use. I really wanted a way to store my sandpaper and ordered one for my 6' Festool sandpaper
Canadian student as well. I'm rewatching all your videos as I prepare to start my first and likely only coffee table
This is my favorite table you’ve done. I want this for my office desk!!
I think you did a FANTASTIC job before the bow tie and after. Personally, I think the bow tie distracts More than the epoxy did BUT to each his/her own and You Knocked it out of the park BOTH WAYS -- ROCK ON.
Wow, thanks!
These are some of the most beautiful tables I've seen, unreal craftsmanship
That has to be the most beautiful & interesting book match piece of seen.
Great video Cam! Yeah, I use Flowyline for most of my legs. I love the designs Alex comes up with. In fact, the curved ones you displayed at the end I got a few months back. Thanks for the excellent instructions, I have learned so much from them, and became so inspired that I am doing a lot more work now - in my 1 car garage, in the winter... I also just purchased a Festool sander, with the dust collector, it's on the way now, and I can't wait to try them out!
Beautiful table and I love the originality of the legs.
Beautiful. I would love a desk like that. Also, it is very easy to listen to your narration. Well done.
I used to watch my dad in his work shop in the basement. I love what you do I with I could make one but I have not got enough room in my house right now. Soon I hope
I love the video
Your work is impressive beyond beyond words.....I unsubscribed to the other channel, they can’t hold a candle to the work your doing...Excited to see and learn more.
Wow, thanks Ken!
Beautiful. And I like the thinness of it. Nice design.
Tell you what... that edge elevates the table to the very top level! I LOVE it!!
I enjoy watching your videos. You do really great work.
I have been watching this guy cut trees on a sawmill.
I got hooked on just the beauty of the wood.
Now I watch what you do with that beautiful wood.
Love that table
You are such a incredible artist with everything you do your table is amazing
You do awesome work and the legs look awesome. All your videos I haves watched I find very inspiring. Have not done any epoxy work as of yet but would love to try it. Keep those amazing projects coming
Beautiful work, love that you give free advice along with openly telling us what mistakes you made(because some of us would've never known) so that we don't make those mistakes. You and your work..... just awesome! Nuff said... lol. Stay safe and be blessed.
Thanks lady!
This table is beautiful. Thank you for making and sharing the video.
Absolutely beautiful work Cam
