I’m Cam, the owner of Blacktail Studio. I started woodworking in 2016 as a hobby. Eventually I realized my hobby was expensive, so I tried selling some items to sustain it. Then I thought I might be able to help find customers if I made a video or two on the process. So in 2018 I launched my CZcams channel.
This led to that, and in 2020 I quit my job to do this woodworking youtuber thing full time. Best decision I ever made though, I hope you enjoy following along!

My Wife Hates My Furniture
My wife asked for one table, so I made her ten... She wasn't thrilled with what I came up with.

New. You should call it WATER FALL. Great job.
Could you do this but like adda bunch of layers of denim and then when you flatten it tilt it sideways a bit? Like: __ ________ _______________ ______________________ Just with a tilt of like 0.5° you know? Might get a bit more of a predictable result
As of Right now, Big fan of the dragon pattern :)
🔥🔥🔥
I would not try the infusion process for any of your project, especially not with denim. If that means anything, I have a college dregree in composite materials and worked with composites in aeronautical and transport industry for a few years. Your process looks quite efficient for your purpose and it seems to give you pretty good and consistent results, in addition to being fairly quick. The problems for infusion is that each geometry is different, how thicknesses tend to be more difficult and that it is highly impacted by how thightly the fabric is woven. Personnally I don't think it could work at all because of the thightness of the fabric, but even if it did, you would need to experiment with every different geometry. I don't have experience with that type of reusable bag, but using compressed air could help accelerating the debagging phase. If you ever need any advice, feel free to contact me! I don't have experience with everything, but If I think I can offer valuable insight on a matter, I would be glad to do so! I love your videos and you motivated me to get into woodworking, so I would be glad to help if I ever can! Cheers mate :)
Patterns: Dragon, Palm, and Lightning, but for the Palm and Lightning, the wood shapes should be longer so the pattern doesn't leave so much flat space on the edges. Colors: Palm and Islands... the high contrast looks super cool. You should try the lighter color from Burgandy and Black denim sometime. Also a very light blue, darkish blue, and black should look cool, especially if it goes dk blue, lt blue, black, lt blue, dk blue, lt blue, black, lt blue, etc.
1st thought Paisley
i imagine that some of the patterns (or all?) will look pretty different in different colors (say, nice in same color and ugly in contrasting pairing or vice versa) as for theese ones i guess that black-n-grey and islands would share secon place (after the boring but better looking oak)
I prefer the dark desk. Its gorgeous!
Next to the last one. The light and dark denim and I think it looks like a sea star. These are all amazing!
Allied the palm.
LOVED the Giraffe in black! Initially my first choice, then I agreed with you that it wasn't that nice after the plainer, but, surprisingly, after the finish and round shaping, it was my absolute 1st choice <3 Giraffe > Islands > Patriot > Pepperoni (that blue with that base's natural light wood colour, wow!) > Palm > Black n' Gray > Dragon > Burgandy > Paisley> Lighting> Oak
Looks like dandelion
Palm... Yep... Palm it is. :) x 100
Would be cool to see someone with your experience do a review of like three or four different cheaper epoxies to see how good they are
Dragon, as is!
Nice... You ar a pilot... I'm an Airbus Captain here in Brazil and my hobby is woodworking.
I am a fan of the dragon pattern although my initial thoughts were that the design looked more like a rocket ship I definitely see the dragon face in the final product
I think you need another pup. Your older dog needs someone to discipline.
Could have just turned the verticle grain boards on edge....
The one your giving away it nice
No hardware!!!😊🎉❤
Light Paisley was my favourite by far!
Rescue. Maybe ,call it "adopting orphan trees"😥
I’m afraid to ask what something like that goes for. 😬
Great Designs. Denim sure does set up beautifully in resin! Lol & it was funny when he notes receiving comments about him and his wife as an odd match(smh people are nuts!). They seem like such a great couple - really fun watching him proudly show her his work at the end:)
...my time as a pilot.
the paisley one is cool, and the palm one paired with that base really somehow looks like a palm tree.
SO, after sitting and watching the video, I liked the Black and grey the most of the denim patterns, but my favorite design was the "Dragon"
If i was a at a store i would like it to ship with oak but have black and grey, palm, and islands available in the aftermarket
I enjoy your videos very much. I get your humor; it's the humor I often attempt and just as often fail. Short of sending you money liking and commenting is the best I can do. Hope this helps your CZcams algorithms.
Maybe name that bottom pattern dandelion?
I don't know if you know this or not but there's special rollers just for resin 😁.
That new relief technique you did with the grinder that had all the lines radiating from the center, gotta call it the Vitruvian San(d).
OMG! That’s gorgeous!
It’s the Shroud of Turin
I absolutely love the "islands" color combo and i probably would stick to "pepperoni" or "burgundy" shape if i could choose, but i find most of the shapes quite pretty. Great job!
The dragon one reminds me of Miraak from Skyrim
I really like the Dragon and Pepperoni
Giraffe in pink, but the patriot is kind of nice too
my boy packin
a beaver face?
I hated all of these until you showed them next to other furniture-- then they started growing on me.
Denim PLEASE! Absolutely GORGEOUS!
That jealous guy who was hyperventilating about your net worth was wrong, your wife is a solid 9. I'm super happy for your success with your business, and the fact you can share it with such a beautiful person, inside and out. Take care mate, you make amazing things.
Islands is my pick!! Great blend with the decor too! Well done and awesomeness on how well you know your wife. 😊
Any chance you can share a link or a picture of the invisible oil with a little white in it that kept the wood it’s more natural color?
Dragon
I absolutely love the palm top
They are all really good to be fair but the truckated base doesnt work or the oval sorry dude
Every table is spectacular, my favorite is lightning!
