They had to walk long distance from frontline to safely load on the vehicle. Every time the transport comes close to the frontline it becomes a primary target for orcs' artillery.
Probably also not as the crow flies, selecting only safe routes, or along known transport pickups.

7. 2001 - Afghanistan. - In response to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in New York and Washington (there is a suspicion that they were carried out by the United States itself), the United States begins the War in Afghanistan, which continues to this day.
8. 2003 - Iraq - The Iraq War begins under false pretenses, in which a number of American allies also participate.
