- Ukrainian soldiers storm Russian trench in terrifying video of assault on Wagner in Bakhmut: This video shows Ukraine’s 3rd Mechanised Brigade engaging Russian Wagner soldiers at extremely close range as they take a trench. The attack is from the Bakhmut area earlier this year, and the 3rd brigade says the enemy soldiers were Russian Wagner mercenaries. The 3rd Brigade says it is sharing the video so viewers can experience the adrenaline and real emotions experienced by the fighters. After clearing their section of the trench, the Ukrainians retreat and regroup.

such a war is beneficial only to politicians and big businessmen. it is meaningless in this form, it is just a departure to death
well once the russians have lost their ww2 tanks i guess they can only use first generation tanks from ww1. fits the tactics then
I think it's because despite all the technology the human aspect is still very real. Carrying heavy and unwieldy kit, having to navigate through trenches of mud, barbs, vegetation etc. Unfortunately machines are expensive. Bodies are cheap, especially for the Russians.
Indeed, the thing is, trench warfare became less used in ww2, and the same went on until the 80's, when trench warfare started to become a useful tactic once again with all the advancements in recon, precicion bombing and the further deadliness of artillery and airstrikes. Not only that, but also how now Infantry alone can carry the firepower to take down tanks in a single hit or 2
Neither side has air superiority, making artillery the queen of the battlefield again. Trenches are a prime defense against arty.
Unbelievable that we are witnessing trench warfare in 2023. It's so tragic that Ukraine is having to go through this.
Ukrainian pilots in NATO provided helicopter gunships, Warthogs, and F16s would greatly assist the brave Ukrainian heroes seen in this video.

Form Soldier in the Kansas Army National Guard of the United States Army. I watch these to see how the old Soviet doctrine works and doesn't. Russian and Ukraine each once used Soviet style tactics, but I have seen the Ukrainian Armed Forces whether their Regular Army, their National Guard or their Territorial Defense Forces seem to be moving towards NATO and Western Doctrine and Tactics. The Ukrainians are actually training their NCOs to be small team leaders at Company, Platoon and Squad levels. They also seem to be encouraging individual inituative among the rank and file.
As for the Russians I noticed that regardless of the source of the videos it seems that the lowest level of true leadership is the Junior Lieutenant in charge of a Platoon of 20 to 30 Mobiks. He doesn't seem to utilize his senior soldiers as Junior leaders and many Mobiks when isolated seem lost as what to do.
Remember: you have traitors in America right now, wanting America to be like Russia. Please stand up for honor and valor against TRAITORS to Democracy.
The western training they have been getting since 2014 has paid off since day one of the war. Where Soviet style tactics discourage initiative, whenever they came up on a problem Russia stopped moving, but the small unit tactics of the West shined when squads and platoons would set up ambushes that the Russians couldn't counter.👍💪

No but in the 60s in Vietnam they did have camera crews following the troops around and Walter Cronkite reporting the casualties basically daily. No combat experience here, just an observation. Such coordination and all I was thinking was the guy up front was aware of the guy behind him shooting. Yet the guy up front was moving. Move in the wrong direction and you get shot by friendly fire. The control and coordination of these units is amazing. They must have a strong level of trust.
u r right
Either they have trust in each other or they are not well trained. I just think that this would not happen with British and US soldiers. Brits dont fire their guns whilst running either, I am sure
@@davidlee-zw8rf in a lot of fallujah videos I’ve seen US soldiers flagging their comrades , accidentally shooting the ground while running, and forgetting how to fire and maneuver. @@user-it4ki1wj5g Humans aren't meant to be meat, on either side. This war is stupid but what can Ukraine do, just roll over?
Speaking for myself only. Fire fights are a terrifying ordeal. For the first few seconds, you freeze, but then all your training kicks in, and muscle memory takes over. Something pushes the fear deep down inside. The adrenaline kicks in, like a superpower, time slows down, your hands stop shaking, your hearing peaks, and your own mortality is just along for the ride. You're able to take in the situation, and you let your training take the wheel. But still in the back of your head, you're scared. No one wants to die, no one wants to suffer a painful death, we hope if we must die that it is quick and painless and we think more of how it will hurt our loved ones back home more. They will be sad, they will grieve, but we hope they will be proud. But anyone who says they weren't scared in a battle is a liar. A real man or woman can admit that they were scared and are no lesser thought of.
I remember a few Gunners get the whole freeze up but because they've been unloading on enemies just walking out in the open
I was listening to the diary of a British soldier who fought during the Napoleonic Wars and he said something very similar. At first, you're scared as hell but then, during the heat of battle, the fear disappears and all that is left is RAGE and the desire to kill the enemy. But I think every soldier will process it differently.

Taking trenches( and war in general) has COMPLETLY changed for ever thanks to drones. Arguably the most significent new weapon since the Helicopter.
I think you might want to put radar, guided missiles including cruise, intermediate range ballistics, and ICBMs, FLIR, and a BUNCH of others somewhere in there. :-/ And the 1st world militaries have countermeasures to drones, which will, before long, be all over the battlefield, including weapons that cost far less than the drones do, per drone destruction, than the drones themselves cost...pennies, actually. It's all measure, CM, CCM, etc. That said, weapons like Apache Longbow (for which I actually designed the servo card, at least the initial one, not sure if it's been upgraded out by now) are VERY useful in certain battlefield scenarios. As you've seen here, Afghanistan (the Soviet helis were basically shut out for day use when Stingers got there).
Any more AA, for ANY aircraft is extremely dangerous, less so for some than others, but still a VERY real threat. Unfortunately that includes the newer Russian stuff, as well. There are countermeasures to those as well, and I'm not talking just chaff and jamming, but we've yet to see how they stack up against current AA, at least as far as I know (which admittedly is next to nothing).
In this war, like in all others, artillery takes out FAR more targets than drones do directly, at least than drones as direct munitions dropping or direct expended attack weapons, although in the artillery case they do often have drones to give locations and corrections for targeting, which is very significant.
And you haven't even SEEN any real drones in this war yet. If Pootie pops a tactical nuke, you just might, though. The US has drones that could drop real guided weapons, like Hellfire on a Russian target launching unrefueled from the US mainland, and that flies much higher and much faster than any of the drones in this war, and can carry a lot more weight.
Elon Musk said that tanks are useless now that drones are on the field. The Ukrainians, the ones that are dealing with them right now, HEARTILY disagree. For such a smart guy (and I'm not at ALL saying he is not), Musk makes some EXCEEDINGLY dumb statements. I saw Hodges say something like, "...and according to that master strategist Elon Musk", and then literally laugh out loud, when discussing that statement.
@@MrJdsenior very well put together!
first of all, drones are just unmanned helicopters. second of all, the most significant weapon since the helicopter was the nuke. Germany had helicopters in world war 2 and already used them in a transport unit.
@@MrJdsenior The Ukrainians do lose drones all the time, but that's arguably the one thing they don't really have any shortage of as far as I'm aware. As for Elon, well what do you expect, he has absolutely zero understanding of warfare of any kind, but people as well educated as him should know better than to talk about things they have no business talking about.
The thing with drones though, is they are incredibly significant, sure a mavic might only be able to drop a few VOG's or a frag or two, but the amount of situational awareness they can give is insane. Ukraine has several units that do nothing but drone recon, and war includes a lot of stuff that doesn't directly kill anyone, but is nevertheless incredibly important and arguably much more useful for Ukraine than whatever multi million dollar drones the US might have.

The weapons may have developed a little, but the tactics - rolling up a trench section by section rather than making a frontal assault - are straight out of World War One. The construction of the trenches, with the angles constantly interrupting firing lines, necessitating the use of grenades, and the obvious danger of ambush at points where a firing trench joins a communications trench, are very similar. Dangerous, bloody, frustrating fighting, sometimes repeatedly over the same ground.
@Extant Fellow especially with the introduction of modern weaponry. Heavy and light machine guns, fighters and bombers, early tanks, they all still have a part in modern warfare.
Well put. Every inch is a brutal battle
Where do you want them hide? Behind the trees? It is so obvious their settings at the forests use your common sense sometimes. That's why they need trenches.
Except WW1 was far more bloody than any war we’ll ever have again. If you’re interested in the horrors of war, read WW1 memoirs. There’s nothing else like it.
@Extant Fellow the French were still using the smoothbore rifles they inherited from their grandfathers who fought in the napoleonic war. We went from horse and carriage, to tanks an planes, all within the span of a half-decade. War quickly innovated things.

They will likely experience PTSD when this war is over. Keep going fellow humans, cause there are always problems you haven't faced which are far more extreme than the problems you face now, and if or when you face them, keep advancing through that trench of unknowing, and pray that it gets better, cause in time it will, stay strong and keep going
PTSD does not come from defending ones land and people. It comes from violating others land and people while leaving behind the stench of war and destruction. That is what the mind cannot forgive. Vietnam was a mistake, Iraq and Afghanistan was also a mistake.
Edit: Its amazing how all the people going off in the comments managed to completely miss my point. One thing I can never wrap my head around when I watch videos like this is when soldiers appear to not be in any cover at all or are in what appears to be an obvious line of sight from the enemy, yet aren't getting shot at. It's bizarre - does anyone else get me?
I think their cameras are mounted on top of the helmets, in some cases, and it gives the impression they are in less cover than they are.
1. They are suppressing the enemy in front of them
2. They are likely being covered on their left and right flanks by other elements, because this is only a fireteam
3. Drones probably have spotted all the enemy that is close enough to engage them, so they probably know that they only have to take cover from the front
Grenade Launchers are being launched while the opposing side is getting shot at. So that's why they hide.
@@GUNNER67akaKelt a point that doesn't come across very well watching this is that when you're in a trench you're deliberately NOT in the line of sight of an enemy, because these trenches snake. Balls of absolute steel, the lot of them - Go on Ukraine!!!
Reminds me of Artyom and the crew from the brilliant METRO game series. Think it's s Russian game though. UKRAINE and RUSSIA should be brothers, uniting against the evil, antiquated red regime that's killing them both. It's time for change.
As an ex soldier. These are great and brave soldiers.
Did they teach you to seat above trenches in your army too?
@@RedBlackDish no cover taken whatsoever. They were mainly sitting ducks, but brave none the less!
You should have been a crappy soldier🤡
First thing we were taught in the infantry is find cover, second, always zig zag when running forward or backwards to make it harder for them to draw a bead, never skyline yourself the third.
The guys standing up here were lucky there were no sniper positions or they wouldn't have made it to the sequel. They are brave beyond doubt but need better training, British Army should send more instructors.

I’ve never served, but I was raised as an army brat. Growing up, my father put us through various forms of punishments whenever we got into trouble. To the average person, some of the stuff we endured may have been regarded as being a bit extreme. But now that I’m grown, I’m more appreciate of the trainings I had to go through in order to get to this point. When this war first started. I immediately switched into survival mode. I began working out 2-3 days a week. I kept track of the situation as much as I could. My mannerism had changed. I was slowly but surely preparing myself in the event that things were to worsen. I was practically battle ready by then. All that to say that the things I had to endure in my childhood wired me to respond to certain things much quicker. It’s like robots. Watching this video, I have no reaction. I’ve seen plenty of graphic videos, but none of which have affected me. Plainly put, I was wired to go to war from the young age, and will automatically adjust my mind stare at a moment’s notice, so I completely understand your sentiments here.
Prayers from America! Long Live Ukraine! 🙏

Glory to the Ukrainian freedom fighters
I've never seen soldiers so calm in the middle of a battle like the Ukrainian soldiers .
it's because unlike most other soldiers, they fight a just, defensive war. If they fight, they might die. If they don't fight, they will all die. That's something amerikanskis can't comprehend, as they had to never defend their homeland from an external invasion. you know, being the country that invades n all? It's much easier to stay calm and accept possible death when you fight for something you believe in, like defending your family and your country, rather than dying for corporate interests.
Those soldiers are fighting on land already drenched in blood unfortunately and Russia should just pack it up and go home 🙃💪🤙
