- Female Ukraine combat medic fires back as four Russian tanks attack her trench and wound comrades. Intense first-person footage revealed the brutal reality of trench-fighting in Ukraine. The video was taken by a female solider of the 47th Brigade fighting in Avdiivka. Troops can be seen fighting near a trench as bullets whistle overhead. Heavy machine gun fire tears through trees and grenades are hurled above ground. The fighting continues under the cover of the dark until dawn. Because the trench is so narrow, they’re forced to fight in a long single-file line. Russian soldiers attack with shells and heavy artillery injuring some squad members. The female soldier uses tuff-cut scissors and medication to patch-up wounded troops. An incoming tank opens fire on their trench and the squad are forced to retreat. Hoping not to be spotted by the Russians, they lay low and hide in their trench. As the tank approaches, the wounded soldier hands over an anti-tank missile, then a panic breaks out and the squad brace themselves for impact. Luckily, the Russians don’t see them and continue roaming the battlefield. A few moments later, they look overhead to make sure the coast is clear. The female soldier helps her comrade to safety, and they run through the forest. Russian bullets fall around them as they jump into an armoured vehicle. Under heavy attack, bullets ping off the vehicle as they make their escape. They arrive at a medical facility, where the man receives urgent treatment. A narrow escape for the squad, they look relieved.

In the Korean war, the North Koreans would first shoot the guy with two bars painted on his helmet, and then the guy with the red cross on his. That basically destroyed unit cohesion and put morale in the gutter since there was neither anyone to command them, nor anyone to administer morphine if they got shot. It was pretty much over at that point. Seems like things don't change much, except these it's not just young men getting shot. It's now middle aged men and young women too.

For your understanding, they are talking about, that they fight against not only infantry, but tanks, have multiple wounded comrades and are encircled - no way to evacuate. They stay put to continue fighting. Nobody run. They ask for support. As soon as they see the window of opportunity they evacuate.

The guy, who speaks calmly is commander, former movie-director Oleg Sentzov, who was political prisoner of Putin arrested in 2014 in Crimea and exchanged for some Russian criminals in 2019. He managed to shoot couple movies in the period between he was released and the big war started.
The concept of war instils a profound sense of fear within me. While I acknowledge the necessity of defending your country when the need arises, the thought of witnessing scenes like those depicted in this footage is truly chilling when you envision yourself in such a dire situation. The sheer levels of courage exhibited by that woman and her comrades as they carried out their mission amidst utter chaos are beyond my comprehension. Imagining myself in a similar circumstance, I can't help but feel that I might succumb to freezing up or spiralling into immediate insanity

He spent 5 years in Russian prison and came back due to exchange in 2019. After his return he shoot a movie, and after full scale invasion enlisted in the army. Currently he is 47yo, and hold’s position of a squad leader in the assault group. Real badass.

My takeaway from watching the whole video, beyond the incredible courage of the individual soldiers, is how high the morale of that unit is. The trust within the unit is clearly very high. That is a huge force multiplier, especially in tough situations like that in the video.

They really felt fear when the tank came rolling by. The tank was visible and you can hear it slowly getting louder. They just braced for whatever comes their way and once the tank passed they went back to calmness.

That calmness during fighting in dire situation is beyond compare. Adrenaline rush is pretty hard to control, I been there so I know. Composure and present of mind are very keys to survive or best, if a team could inflect more damage to the enemy than the team endure.
