    I appreciate these reviews. Seeing the curriculum really helps. I have friends with dyslexia, friends who want total hands off, and others like myself who like a combination of hands on learning as well as work alone programs. It is helpful to see each style and look at how things are put together before purchasing. Thank you.

    I haven’t homeschooled since my oldest son was probably 7. Now he’s going to be a highschool freshman and we are going back to homeschooling. I’ve probably watched this 3 times and even went back to re-look and takes notes. I’ve watched a ton of homeschool channels lately and seriously these r so good. You are well spoken but also give ALL the pertinent tips and info that everyone wants to know. 👏👍✨
    Just showing people books covers and listing what you chose doesn’t help others choose anything. I live overseas so there are no homeschool stores, very few other homeschool parents and just no way besides online to SEE anything- to see and “walk through” things and hear someone give the pros and cons or even just what things incorporate or don’t, is impossible! Even on websites you don’t get the full picture. All that to say- these r super helpful and not boring. Probably these best I’ve seen. 💜✨

    • @meredithrock
      @meredithrock Před 4 lety

      Angela Smith, I agree. I’m in the same position. Due to the current health crisis, I know “normal” school won’t be happening this year. Our school district is offering free virtual school for all grades, and they want a full year commitment. (They are transitioning some of the teachers from brick and mortar schools, to virtual.) The e-learning style, just doesn’t work for our third graders learning style. So if we’re going to be in a homeschooling situation for a year, we want to make the most of this, and really home school. We want him to enjoy the school year, not dread every day. These videos have been very helpful figuring out what would be a good fit (and we prefer a secular program as well.) Good luck with your schooling!

I think a lot about how I am going to do things differently with her than I did with them. @@seasonalliving2881 I ordered their PRE-K "Ready to Learn" package in January 2019. Their policy is that you have six weeks from the time you order to return your items. My packages did not come for six weeks. I called after waiting three weeks for my products to get out of processing. I was told they were having "bad weather". We were experiencing record low temps were I live (Minnesota) so I was okay with it at first, and he sent me the e-book for the teacher's guide through email. Which was fine, but the problem was that I couldn't do any of the work since I didn't have any of the other books.
      After waiting another week, I finally called again and was told that they were "just processing" my order now that he "literally had my name up and was sending out my order" and I would get "rush shipping". I got a package two days later from Amazon that had a double of one of the books and it was missing the book. I called again and they apologized and said I could keep the extra book and they would send me the correct book. I got it much later then I should have (problems with mail problems not Winter Promise's fault directly.) Anyways, I had spent almost $300 on the curriculum and because of the long shipping, I no longer had the ability to return it. I went into it with high hopes after seeing some amazing reveiws from Homeschool On and other bloggers and such that I follow. At first Iiked it and so did my daughter, but about three weeks in, things became long and boring.
      The lessons were taking over three hours to complete and things became super disjointed. (For instance, there was one week we were learning about birds and then we were doing projects about monkeys) Every single link in the teacher guide does not work or is super outdated. The directions on some of it were so vague and confusing or you couldn't understand due to horrendous spelling and grammar errors. We quit everything after trying to make it work for six weeks. I feel like it was a complete waste of money and that they ripped me off.

    I like the idea of the lifepac history but I'm secular. How much is god mentioned in the history one you showed? I know the English has a lot that it can't be adapted was just curious if this one could .

      You honestly cant get more Christian than AOP, from what I remember it's every single lesson. 😉

      My kids are doing lifepac history and geography for grades 3 and 5 right now. We are half way through the year. Both of those grades barely mentions anything unless the topic has been regarding the pilgrims coming to America for religious freedom or if they were discussing the great awakening in America. It's mentioned if a person they are discussing was a Christian and the choices they made were because of their beliefs but honestly, I feel a secular family would not have a problem with using it. We are Christian. I do know what you're talking about with biblical stories being being used in Lifepac English. The history and geography is not like that at all. Math has even less if any reference to God. I don't remember coming across anything Christian in their math. Hope that helps. 😊

      I'm sure she decided to recommend traditional, tried and true Christian curriculums that have been around for years. TGTB has Mormon influences and hasn't been around for that long. Many people criticize how the history isn't that great...boring...etc. etc. They are still updating and revising their curriculum.
