And I've been watching Play-offs highlights of past seasons and I was really impressed, it's true, you are not European or Latin American, but the competition of the MLS league is good, not like in other places where the same teams almost always win. Maybe their teams at the intentional level are not very recognized, but I hope that in the future they will be.

We sat together and bought each other’s beers as we watched it unfold. Every second of the match we were on alternating on different sides of glee and despair. Then extra time, then the 1st 5 of the shootout, then the next 5...

Pretty good atmosphere there. Thought the Americans were not into "soccer".. good to see the sport rise..
People in Portland, and the Pacific Northwest (Seattle/Vancouver), are diehard soccer and sports fan in general. The sport is still very much in development across many other parts of the country
Uknowit Al Because the US is so diverse, different regions have different sport preferences. The south is football (American) country, the west coast is big on basketball, the north-east is famous for baseball. The big soccer region in the US is Cascadia. It's the northwest region that is run through by the Cascade mountain range. Portland Oregon, Seattle Washington, & Vancouver BC (Canada) are the members of the Cascadia region in the MLS. I live in Portland and honesty the atmosphere is amazing. Look up some of the tifos by the timbers army, it will show the passion of US soccer fans.

It baffles me how goalies are able to save as many shots as they do. I am not a soccer fan by any stretch of imagination, but I know a difficult job when I see one. There is so little room for error and they have so little time to react.
Goalies have a pretty simple job tho :P
@@remusgel It looks simple but I can assure you it can be decisive most of the time
All they have to do is keep the ball out right? /s
@Billy Gates After reading your comments - the word " simple " does come to mind .
Especially when you consider the goal is as big as the side of a large box truck. I'm also baffled at how often top world players sky the ball over the bar from close range, despite playing and training their whole life. "I tell ya people, it's harder than it looks."
It's been a while since I've stepped on the pitch. Played 11 years indoor/outdoor during the late 80's thru 90's. Trust me, when you’re a goalie, the penalty spot looks much closer than 11 yards. I should know, I’m a goalkeeper
The Artist and the Nerd yeah, and mentally it kinda just makes you pretty worried, so it's not just a matter of being able to predict where the ball is going to go, it's also a matter of keeping your composure.
Who do you play for?
Forget the distance between the spot and goal, the length between the posts feels like a mile wide
and when u are about to kick a pk the goal looks way smaller....
Accrington Stanley Vlogs Local U15 side in France.
I played goalie on a 1st division team in Oregon. 1984 Championship we lost on Penalty kicks in that very stadium. The next year we were in the championship and again it went to PKs (different venue). I lost track in mind how many kicks had been taken. I remember diving the wrong way and the kicker went just wide and grazed the post. While I was diving the wrong way looking over at the ball, time slowed down. I can still picture it. I wiped the sweat off my brow, Whew! I hadn't realized we just won the game until I got up and my team ran on the field and carried me off on their shoulders. Greatest feeling ever in sports.
Truly the law of physics is applied .Angles.Trajectory .Wind factor .Precipitation.Velocity curve and pure gravity together with the PSI of the ball.
This game was showing on Unimas, the only channel I got at the time, and I got to watch this game, and I'll never forget it.
Only way i could watch it at home was through streaming it on Unimas. Listening to the game in Spanish. I probably paused my phone 5 times when I kept thinking that has to be it. Just to keep turning it back on and seeing the miracle that happened. Inches away from being knocked out at the beginning. To winning it all
MLS won't do a video about the knock out game in Seattle because it involves the refs messing up, but that one hurt more. Beasler scored but was mis judged as offside, but Torres scores, from an offside position and doesn't get called. 1-0 seattle, it really felt like we got jobbed.
Besler's was not misjudged. It was also offside.
It was Valdez not Torres also beasler was offside

It’s those moments that makes me excited for MLS Playoffs every year. It’s a feeling that you don’t get in league European soccer. In European soccer it’s always the same teams winning, and you have to be a rich team to win a championship. Whereas in MLS you can root for ANY team and still be optimistic that your team can win MLS Cup. That’s the beauty of MLS!
blub blub no it means that all the clubs are basically as good as each other. It’s tight competition unlike La Liga for example that has only like 3 teams in it each year lmao
I think that happens with each league of America :v
The MLS, like all American sport leagues, has a profit sharing agreement so that the poorest team in the league receives money from the wealthiest teams. And like most American sports leagues, it has salary caps to try to keep a team from spending itself into debt to try to win. It has to do this, because in the USA we are not a single sport country, and so your sports entertainment product has to be competitive with and as entertaining as the show provided by leagues like MLB, the NFL, the NBA, and the NFL - the highest attended, wealthiest, most competitive leagues in the world.
European soccer leagues are dominated by single large valuable teams in major metropolitan areas who use their leverage as a successful team to buy success year after year after year, with single teams winning more than half of the championships and 2-3 other teams dividing the rest between them. The real dirty secret of most European leagues is that though the one or two wealthy teams in that league currently have teams that are much stronger than MLS teams, those teams survive and earn revenue mostly from beating up teams that are not nearly as well funded and barely if better than MLS teams. It's seal clubbing most of the time for the big cities, taking money from the little guys - and often buying off their players if they become a threat. It's not unusual in a European soccer league for a game to be played where the big "Capital City FC" club has defeated "Smallville United" 50 times in a row, with the last upset occurring far enough back in time that the clubs really were just glorified amateur athletic clubs and not international brands. Even in the EPL, supposedly the most competitive league in Europe, it's not unusual to see 7-1 or 6-0 score lines because the some dumb club spent itself into debt to get promoted up to the Premiere, only to be viewed as nothing more than a scrimmage by a team that has bottomless pockets and put together a roster of the world's best.
That's not great soccer. That's just moneyball.
Matthew Reynolds Spot on dude. Spot on. Another thing, from an American perspective, why support an European team that one does not have a connection to, or never been to? They’ll will just be watching from the TV, and dreaming they are in the stadium. Whereas in the MLS you can support your local professional soccer team with a passion and have pride for your city and for your team. Or you can just be like herd of sheep and be “Hala Madrid” or “Força Barça” and not be able to point where they are at in a map.
Christian Perez so does every League in the Americas
