Volkswagen Taigun vs Honda City Comparison - SUV Or Sedan? | MotorBeam

- In today's video we compare the Volkswagen Taigun and the Honda City. Both the vehicles fall in a similar price bracket and both are offered with two engine options. The City gets a 1.5 petrol or a 1.5 diesel engine while the Taigun gets a 1.0 turbo petrol or a 1.5 turbo petrol engine. These cars have different USPs and excel in different areas so it does make sense test driving both of them and seeing which one meets your requirements more.

Hello #MotorBeamers, which one will you pick out of these two and why?
Always city😍🔥
4:34 parth, I don’t think 1.5TSI GT+ getting ventilated seats! That’s major drawback. Only the 1.0TSI topline gets it.
Always an suv, gives me better peace of mind especially with the roads in India
Honda city!!
@@apolloxlix679 Yeah.. But if you want to enjoy and to get know what is a car
Then city is for you👍🏼
Being a 2021 city owner, i had faced a similar dilemma of either going with a Kushaq or the City.
Trust me when i say this, a raised up hathback (Kushaq/Taigun) will definitely save the underbody of a car but it just can't match up to the comfort and space a sedan offers. Both vehicles drive amazingly well. Agreed that the Germans are known for their robust build but its the Japanese who make one of the best engines.
So it's just a matter of preference.
Don't think abt road conditions in India, i come from a small town and don't have very good roads over here, but driving the New City is a cakewalk.
You just need to be carefull about the approach angle thats all. There you must slowdown to save from any crank sounds
City's Unberbelly never touches any potholes
I too waited for kushaq, but kushaq disapointed me in pricing so went for city v cvt
95% of Indian road is ok for Honda City
@@Tambdubillota remaining 5% is enough to f8ck up the cars under belly, shocks and tyres....
SUV has better under thigh support compared to sedan though.
Hi Harsh, I'm confused between the 2.. love the city, while overall the city has 165 mm of ground clearance, the engine underbelly protection is just around 145mm if I'm not wrong. Chances of damaging the protection/engine are more, what do you think?
Lot of people will comment city city and at last they will buy swift or expresso 😂
🤣🤣🤣
😅😅
Matlab Maruti haters yahan bhi Bhai us pe comment karo jo dikhaya ja rha hai. Baat honda aur Volkswagen ki ho rhi hai
I was commenting Tata, Tata and bought Honda
This type of comment is really outdated... Try something else.
I had the dilemma of choosing between sedan and SUV and was really worried about ground clearance. I finally settled for a cross over, scross, solely because of the low ground clearance of Honda city. Having driven my scross for more than 7k kms, along with other cars such as Kia sonet and 4th gen city which my relatives own, I can assure that no SUVs or cross overs can match the comfort and handling of a sedan.
We generally overestimate the need for ground clearance. City has more than enough GC, only thing is that you’ve got to be a little more careful over humps and potholes. No matter which car you buy, unless it is a Thar or a hardcore off-roader, you’ll only go gentle over bumps and potholes.
City is City. Keeping the sedan segment alive for the past 2 decades 💪. In this era of pseudo-SUVs, people tend to forget the charm of a sedan. No SUV can match the driving dynamics of a sedan.
I have a 2011 model Honda city and drove it for years on horribly broken roads of country sides without much of problems and now planning to replace it with 5th gen City .
No hate for Taigun but still honda city is indeed a value for money practical car
@superkadabra Pre-owned 🤮
Lol! Honda doesnt seem reliable
And fyi we had Honda City that always breaks and no its not too good value

A much needed review and comparison. You have nailed it comparing both side by side. Well done.
A big thank you for the guys who made this comparison possible. I was stuck between these two for a long time
Nice explanation, clarity excellent, comparison nutritional,as customer can go for any one as he wishes. Thanks
Awesome comparison, great thought process.
Japenese car are more reliable than any European one..... And honda makes best engines when it comes to naturally aspirated engine
I like honda city, although taigun has german build quality . I like the space and comfort honda city offers
and don’t forget the vtec engine and revs
And amazing reliability

This is what I am waiting for. Two masters and you cannot choose which one fits because both are equally good and fun to drive. Anyway I got GT1.5 Taigun, because my family wants an SUV. But I always love Honda City, a dream car from my childhood since I started exploring cars. Good Luck to both the customers and the Company.
Have Hcity since 12 years..still drives like its a new car. But i would prefer an SUV over sedan on Indian roads. Have faced lots of challenges on road due to low ground clearance of a sedan on several road trips. Honda should bring SUV like Honda HRV to Indian market to compete against creta seltos, if they wanna survive. Else Honda will be out of India just like Ford and Chevrolet. Already its losing market share and profitably in India.
You hit the nail on the head. I am facing the same issue with my 8 years old honda city lower ground clearance. Indian roads don't deserve the class of sedan vehicles like Honda city. Even the city driving is horrible due to potholes and large speed breakers. I would too prefer a suv only for Indian roads
@@AbbyPDV totally agree with U. SUVs are the present and future now.
there r 2 ways you can hav issues with GC of the car- either u hang on the bottom of the car while travelling or u purposely try very hard to hit the bottom of the car to things that u find high enough. which one r u doing?
@@eddy9881 Sedans r there as long as there r few sensible people. Crossovers as long as there r those with GC phobia.
Do drag races of
5th gen city petrol vs Verna petrol
City vs Creta petrol
Taigun/kushaq 1.5 tsi vs Creta seltos 1.4 turbo
Nissan kicks 1.3 turbo vs Kushaq 1.5 tsi
Astor vs creta

Sure, will plan
I bought Taigun for the simple reason that I preferred an SUV to a Sedan..
If I were to pick a Sedan, I’d give a serious consideration to Slavia..

Can you please suggest me which one should I buy. Bit confused. Please suggest me among...Slavia 1lt , Honda city petrol/diesl, VW Tiagun 1lt, vw Virtus 1lt. I heard that Honda city diesel generates noise in cabin. I travel Max 200km on average per month. Please suggest. Thank You.
My pick would be the Honda City ✨
My choice is VW Taigun. 🔷
very nice comparison
Great work guys ! Like the new small touches..
When it comes driving dynamics and handling and quality interiors...honda city will win anytime
Moving to Taigun 1.5 GT after 10 years of great Honda city drives! Great comparison just to add both gives you the best road feedback - like the steering talking to the driver :)
GT MT?
@@Amummu AT for now but MT is more fun.
@@soumiks I m planning MT. But confused between used Jeep Compass diesel and Taigun 1.5 MT. What's your take? What would be more fun and overall?
@@Amummu yup MT is way more fun. But if you are looking to balance city and long drives or someone in your fam prefers AT then go for AT. The 1.5 is a mini beast of an engine you can tame and the sync they have achieved is damn good one. AT or MT both have that sweet rev
@@Amummu compass is good too. My cousin drives it. But after driving Taigun I connected immediately
this video helped me in selection of the cars. i pick honda city petrol version
I have city 2021 and taigun .believe me no match with city's comfort.but 1.5 tsi terbo is very powerful
What's the ground clearance of new 5gen facelift Honda City??
City and virtus is very spacious and comfy cars in it's segment

Man you took the sales man duty too serious
Anyway nice home work
I hv been driving city 5 gen since 2 and half years now. Never has there been any issue. Smooth gear shifts, no noise, comfortable seating and the power of ivtec. This is my third car after 2 Maruti cars and I m never leaving honda now.
And it has 6 air bags.
भाई, वीडियो को आखिर तक देखने के बाद भी मैं ये समझ नहीं पाया की आपने दोनों को COMPARE क्यों किया? या दोनों के broshure पढ़ दिये !
How city Diesel ? Is it worth
Ivtec all the way ♥️.... engine reliability 😍
My Pick will be 1.5TSI DSG👻That’s lot more fun
Costly choice.
@@atanubanerjee2599 Not much for TSI tbh if u see the maintenance cost, i am already using 1.5TDI DSG, which is costlier to maintain if i compare with TSI, but i find reasonable comparing to other brands, esp Honda! Using Honda Jazz too
Favourite Hatchback - Polo GT TSI
Favourite Sedan - Honda City
Favourite SUV - Ford Ecosport, Skoda Kushaq and Ford Endeavour
U people never suggest the car which one to buy out of two...
Answer is always manipulative...
City is a tried and tested car over generations..
Gt+ doesn't comes with ventilated seats brother..jst wanted to highlight
GT is the manual version which misses many features but price is also less. GT+ is the automatic version of 1.5 which has all the features but 3L more I guess
I prefer Taigun as it is a SUV with superb build quality, reliability, driverabity and a complete family car for touring.
Reliability?😂😂
Do you even know what Relaiblilty means?
Reliability???🥴🥴
Till suv its ok but no reliable and driverability like city
Reliability? 😆 VW is the antonym to reliability
Make hyndia Aura vs Tata punch im confuse
cars are always better than so called SUVs...
cars pros..
better space..
better power...
better drivebility...
travel comfort..
17:12 Not so impressive figures from the diesel City engine there, though the N.A petrol has impressive power figures for itself.

I don't think sedan sre inferior to suvs..... If you live on good roads sedan are way to go.... For bad road it is good but sedan is sedan
everyone is commenting about vw's build quality but they dont know that Honda is giving 5stars car to indian market since 2014 around
Since last one month i could not decide between the two..riding Polo 1.2 diesel last 10 years
Took both for test drive
Felt Honda City 5 gen drive engaging and smooth drive ,where as taigun 1,0 Mt didn't feel like I was driving Volkswagen,,,, Volkswagen compromised and lost their DNA ???compared to my Polo,,,,, still confused a lot
In suv I choose Tata Nexon Or xuv300 Over Taigun since it has 1.2 litre turbo powered engine.. Taigun has reported few issue in engine strugglin when 3 people in back row In this video No other car cars can offer Honda city like comfort
We need a cheap rwd Sedan
Honda city is more practical car even bein a VW fan😀😀
Only honda city, comfort, power, safety, class and value for money.

Taigun looks Good
But for Heaven sake it's Gotta be the City Iv-tec !!! Bcos the Nat Ass is a dieing breed ⚙️🕹️
Xuv 300 and taigun
no comparison with ivtech engines
City👍👍
City always
Taigun looks premium and classy….For me its Taigun🔥🔥🔥
Honda also not giving wireless android or apple connectivity, people struggle in the new hi-tech era. They seems to be waiting n keep margin up as Indians have faced in past for tubeless tyres.
Taigun
I will say one thing I have driven honda city zx 5th generation, ciaz alpha and creta sx. All 1.5 engines but there was not much difference between them. 1.5L ivtec is overrated
It might not feel as all engines are very good but in case of durability and longetivity ivtech engines are very popular...u look at the road and u will still c the 2000 year honda cities running smoothly
it's far better and Faster than slavia, kushaq, taigun with 3 Cylinder 1.0 tsi
and also it's the fastest NA Engine in it's segment
so faster than ciaz, verna
🤣
the most overrated engine is tsi 1.0
😂🙏
vtec 1.5 is popular as it's been around for a long time and proven engine
Better VW Discontinue Da GT Variant
I would pick neither. Bcoz i don't drive petrol cars and nor in the future i intend too

"For Elderly people" is just an excuse. Everyone wants bigger car which is compact SUVs....😒😒😒😒
That’s called bigger hatchback 🚗
Not enthusiasts
Felt like a biased review.......no hate to city perhaps it also have cons consider them for the future review
