I have a medical coming up soon for a job and the cst is part of it, do I need to make it all 5 rounds or is it till my heart rate reaches is max limit. I've been trying the test on a 15" step and I'm getting to the end of round 3 and that's it I'm gassed out 😆 I'm 42 and slightly overweight
Hi Ted, thanks for the question. Do you happen to know the Vo2 level required to pass for your job? For example, most UK Fire Services must achieve 42 ml/kg/min to pass the test. Because CST is a sub-maximalal test, you will only ever reach 80% of your estimated max heart rate never max at that point the test will stop. Happy to answer any other questions you may have.
