    What is the function of EGB valve? and the CBV function, when have low load the valve will be open and the air by the same pressure going to the pipes of the system to increase the heat of the exhaust gas ? or in the SCR system CBV this function only ?

    • @marinerealtalk8683
      @marinerealtalk8683  Před 2 lety +1

      The EGB (Exhaust Gas Bypass) is optional for EGR. For Tier II engine, the EGB valve is installed on the exhaust gas receiver, and will be opened/fully open at high load to release the exhaust gas in order to prevent overspeed of turbo charger. The valve is partly open at low load.
      The CBV is very important in EGR system, this valve is for bypassing of the scavenging air from the compressor outlet to the turbine inlet to partly recover lost scavenging air pressure when ERG is running. Actually, in the SCR, it has also the valve called CBV same as in EGR. The SCR and EGR has the same purpose and function which is to reduce the NOx, emission but method used is different.

    First of all...Ur video and explanation alogwise is extremely comprehensive.I can atleast understand though havent worked yet.
    I have two querriers..
    1) with same output power from ME , is it like this that turbocharger will be comparatively small incorporated with EGR system compared to without EGR.Asking such question because anyhow the exhaust from TC will be inducted to EGB,then why Dedicated EGB bypass positioned with EGR system..Why not in normal engines!

    • @marinerealtalk8683
      @marinerealtalk8683  Před 5 měsíci

      Hello Suran, thank you for the appreciation.
      About your queries, actually the TC size is still the same as the one without EGR. The EGB also may install even to the engine without EGR and most of our vessel without EGR are equipped with EGB. The EGB actuates at a high engine load to prevent TC over speeding. It can be operated in auto or manual but it better to kee it in auto.🙂

      @suranjanghoshal3390 Před 5 měsíci +1

      Thanks for ur response.I believe with EGR in the system,already there are plenty pressure drops and still possibilities persists that TC may overspeed at higher loads.
      I worked with ME-B tier 2, there I had fixed TC and outlet going to EGB

    • @suranjanghoshal3390
      @suranjanghoshal3390 Před 5 měsíci +1

      But yes , with EGB bypass, we can elevate the rpm of ME without even TC overspeed,Good protection to TC

      @marinerealtalk8683  Před 5 měsíci

      Hello Suran, sorry for the late reply.
      The possibility of over speeding may also depends on the condition of your EGB, if it actuates on the certain engine load as per designed.

      Hello Sir, actually manual is correct, there no certain quantity of fresh water consumption as there are lots of factor that affects or may contribute.🙂

      The question is how much water income to EGR drain tank ? As far as I understand, water overflows from buffer tank to EGR drain because most of the water income by exh/gas condensation, right ? From your practice, how much water income to EGR? (in case of WTS failure) @@marinerealtalk8683

    Hi Chief. Did you have any difficulties with changing over the filters while EGR in operation?

    • @marinerealtalk8683
      @marinerealtalk8683  Před 4 měsíci

      Hello Sir, if you are referring to what we call spaghetti filter of WTS, you can change or clean it while EGCS is running. Just stop ng WTS operation. Should you have any concern, please let me know🙂

    • @WorldWar_Live
      @WorldWar_Live Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@marinerealtalk8683Sorry, didn’t mention which one) I mean process water filter located on the floor deck near PWRT. It is impossible to change over the filter during EGR running

    • @marinerealtalk8683
      @marinerealtalk8683  Před 4 měsíci

      Yes, it is not advisable nor recommended to clean while EGR is running. Anticipating that filter could be clogged, thus better to make sure that filters are cleaned prior operating the EGR. But in a situation where you really needed to clean without stopping the ME, then you have to lower the engine load to 10-12% of MCR to auto stop the EGR, yet your ME still running. Then you can do the cleaning of filter.🙂

      @@marinerealtalk8683 well, this is clear. Thank you for information. But it is very strange the system is not designed to change over the filter when EGR in operation

    • @marinerealtalk8683
      @marinerealtalk8683  Před 4 měsíci

      Actually on the first design, there was no bypass valve. But anyway , I shall check new design if it has now a by pass or two lines thay can be used alternatively considering to clean if needed.🙂

    I have a question, sir. If wet scrubbing process is used in EGR, Isn't there any efficiency issues for engine?
    Cause, I know the system will adjust the proper level of water mist and the water mist would be captured by water mist catcher. But still, haven't you experienced any problems what I mentioned when you were onboard those ships equipped with EGR?
    And how much the EGR can neutralize the SOx? Can it neutralize even if the ship uses HSFO(Sulphur content is below 3.4%)?

    • @marinerealtalk8683
      @marinerealtalk8683  Před 8 měsíci

      Hello, sorry just now I have read your comment. Actually when it comes to engine efficiency, still the same and is not affected even it is fitted with EGR. While for the water mist, the system is so designed to cope even at max engine load.
      About the Sox, there is no certain amount Sox being removed while EGR is in operation. But due to the system operation Sox is partly removed. Moreover, the the sulfuric acid from the SOx can be partly neutralized its because of SW which is naturally with high alkalinity. The Mitsui EGR are mainly designed for LSMGO not unlike in SCR.
