- Season 04, Episode 99: 2023/2024 opening day at Vail Mountan was so good! The conditions were great for two long, fast groomers for Vail opening day! Zero complaints whatsoever on this incredible day and am stoked I got to experience Vail mountain opening day for the second year in a row!

To put it in perspective, In South Korea, although it’s beautiful in its own way, the most challenging one there is not as good as Killington in Vermont. So visiting any mountain on the west side of North America is a mind blowing experience. As a kid, I played ski/snowboard games on Nintendo and PC, and the backgrounds in those games in the display always made me wonder where those places could be. And, I wanted to visit those kind of places in real life. I’m guessing those ski games are modeled after some ski places in Colorado, whistler. When you play those games, it looks endless,flat, sparse tree groups, fallen logs, etc. one day, I aspire to visit Colorado ski resorts.

@@owen_som Killington is great for the East coast, but it really doesn't compare to some of the mountains out West. I say this living in New England dreaming of past and future vacations out West.
@zman7689 yup, it doesn't compare at all. Grew up on the east coast and moved out west. I won't even consider the east coast anymore. It's just not worth the money for someone who has to travel a few hours(MA to VT) and stay over night
The east coast is very gnarly though and formed me into the snow athlete I am today. East coast is way colder too

Great stuff Lucas! Heading to Vail on Nov 30 with my 10 year old son for 4 days of skiing. Some father - son bonding. With 3 other kids, I find it awesome to do a bit of 1 on 1 time. Seems you have fun skiing with your dad as well. Hope and pray for a storm or 2 before we get there...

I was for certain you were carrying more speed on Ramshorn at Vail then 4oclock at Breck. It was close, but I was wrong :) Cant wait to get out West to ski this year!

Question about 70* overnight van temp. Is that just because the insulation is that good or do you run some sort of battery heater? Just wondering. There is always something joyful about perfect corduroy, even on the easiest rune. Saw your boots unbuckled for at least 1 run .. new this year? Stay safe dude!!
hey craig. had a few more days this time last year but hoping to get about 50 by xmas! i do have really solid insulation throughout the van but i have a diesel heater that will run all night and keep the van at whatever temperature i set!

I love VAIL , had great skiing with my daughter and boyfriend, my heart is still at SQUAW ! ( I hate the name new change , and the logo is soooo ugly! ] 🎿⛷️🏂❄️⛄️
I made it to squaw (stupid changing names) 2015 but was too late to ski. But did ski Kirkwood and Heavenly loved them both! Utah has the best snow I feel!
