    Dude! This is a life saver! I've been learning this board. A church I've been helping lead worship for bought a new sound system and picked this board, but they don't have a set sound guy, and the guys they paid from guitar center to set everything up basically ripped them off by doing a poor setup job. On top of that I'm the only one there that has a beginner level of understanding of digital live sound. This will help me clean up the channels to make connecting everything to the snakes simple and easy for when guest bands come through.
    But your videos are a gift from God in helping make digital sound digestible. It's a whole different complexity compared to analog sound.

    I am the sound tech at my church. They are deep into their Yamaha QL5 board. I am not familiar with that board (I am new on the staff.) I am learning it and it does work well, but it seems like the Presonus StudioLive Series III is so much easier and logical, especially when it comes to sending and returnng FX. I am very familiar with StudioLive Series III, in fact I own the very same model you just demnstrated in this video. I love it! It truly seems purpose built for church applications. I wish I could convince my church to make the switch. It saves money and nails down what we actually need way better than the Yamaha.

      Sometimes making a change to reduce confusion with volunteers is worth the work of implementing the change. On the other side is putting effort into training and understanding with the current team.

      A QL serious console is far too complex for a church I would say unless your church is massive. If it were up to me every church would have an A&H SQ console, and the larger churches possibly a dLive

    Hello.
    I am pastor of a church, and we are looking to buy new digital mixer and we are looking for advice and help.
    The church is about 350 people, 2 main speakers JBL SRX835P, 8 microphones, drums, guitar, bass guitar, piano etc.
    We have YAMAHA S9 32 and is working well.
    If we buy new mixer will be till $5000
    We are thinking for:
    - Behringer WING
    - Presonus StudioLive 32S
    - Allen & Heath SQ6
    - or something else…
    The mixer should be volunteer friendly (easy to use), good as quality and abilities and in the price range.
    Do we need to change the S9 32, or not worthy to change it?
    Please for advice.
    Thank you.

    Hello! :) I've been scrolling through videos on how to use the PreSonus StudioLive console and came across this video. I'm a vision impaired audio engineer who will soon be mixing on this console for the first time at a friend's church. I'm wondering if you might know of a way to encode the rotary encoders so that I can apply EQ/compression on my own? It would help if I could see what I'm doing, but I can't so I need to find work-arounds.
    I really enjoy your videos. Thank you for all you do to help worship leaders and sound techs have a smooth experience! :)

    • @AttawayAudio
      @AttawayAudio  Před 6 měsíci

      I'm not sure I know how to help you with that. Even though you can assign the 8 rotary encoders in the fatchannel section to EQ, there's still a toggle between freq. and bandwidth on each EQ band, so you could be on the wrong one without knowing it. For the compressor, it'd be a little easier, just have your buddy verify that it's "on"

    • @ritchelllim2571

      @@AttawayAudio Ah I see
      That’s ok
      If the button is to toggle between freq and Q then I think I can work around it, just need to take mental note of each time I toggle

      The scene recall system of this console is kinda sh*tty...
      1. Fundamental settings like patching and gains are saved in projects, while other things are saved in scenes. This mean if someone messed up with patching and gains and saved it as another scene in the current project, then the project is ruined.
      2. Only up to 20 scenes can be added to a project... For churches or band shows this might be enough, but for theatrical shows this could mean a disaster - There's no way I'm able to store 150+ audio cues for a musical into this console!

    • @pascalfrigge1278
      @pascalfrigge1278 Před 2 lety

      You can simply route your outputs to both your s32 outputs (probably AES A) and local XLR outputs (this tab is called XLR in the routing, if I remember correctly). If you then route your mix busses 1-6 to your outputs 1-6 and your Main LR to outputs 7-8, you can plug your monitors into 1-6 out in your s32 and your front of house into 7-8 in your console. Does that help? As James said there are plenty of videos if you search for X32 output routing.

      Depends if you have P16s and/or S16s or S32 digital snakes already. If you already have the Behringer/Midas preamps or monitor mixers, the Wing makes a lot of sense. If not, the price is pretty far away, and that needs to be considered too.

      @@AttawayAudio thanks for the quick response. My church is looking to upgrade from the zoom L20 to ... Everyone is recommending the X32 as the next step up, but my mind set is to do one big upgrade and call it a day. I've dabbled with the X32 a few times for other churches. My biggest thing is effects and vocal tuning... I think the X32 effect set up is complicated for no reason.
