- I left Mexico to come to Colombia. Where am I living in Colombia? Why do we like living in Colombia (exactly this place)?
I'm a Mexican female that left Mexico to start travelling as a digital nomad and my first destination is Colombia. We came to a small city in Colombia called Manizales. We came to Manizales in the summer of 2021 and we found it a tranquil and comfortable city to live in Colombia. But, why are we staying in a non-very popular place in Colombia?
When we decided to travel again, we decided to live in Manizales, Colombia for a few months.
In this video, I show you what it's like living in Manizales, Colombia and the quiet life we found enjoyable here.

More information about Manizales hot springs or and other hot springs in Colombia would be super fun! I may be bias though as I love hot springs in general. The most unique hot springs i have ever been to is Hierve el Agua, in Oaxaca.
I love your videos!! I have my residency in Mexico. I live in Quintana Roo. I’ve noticed the cost of living is climbing quickly here. Mexico is growing at an exciting pace but too many are coming here since the pandemic.

Yes, it's a shame. There is beautiful nature in Querétaro but it's quite far from the city.
When you’re talking about the trust with the woman and the yogurt and you don’t see that trust in Mexico now. I need to let you know that because I had Covid and continue to have had long Covid for two years. My brain is not functioning well at all.
So four times I dropped money on the floor in different stores. I’m talking about paper bills, and all four times people came running after me, as I was further down the street yelling Señora Señora tu dinero . This was all in the historic part of Queretaro.
I have been living alone here for almost 3 years and find this kind of behavior not unusual. People have been very kind and generous to me here.

You guys done good, K...I bailed on Tijuana a couple of years ago, and there wasn't really a viable alternative left in Mexico. Querétaro, DF, Jalisco, even Oaxaca the prices are climbing way beyond the value. And on a dollar for peso basis, Baja is even worse than Southern California price-wise for the locals there...Manizales and the cafetera region always get overlooked by expats in favor of Medellín. Medallo is great, but the prices there are too high now as well (thanks, overpaying gringos!... 😒 ...) Paisas all over are awesome, laid back people, even in bustling Medellín. But as you pointed out, the living is a lot easier where you are. Be careful of the tax situation though. They have some Americanesque tax laws that kick in after 183 days - that's why I came to Asia. ¡Pero disfrutense la vida paisa allá, y siguen someter el contenido maravilloso!...

The geopolitics of the world are changing rapidly. Based on all of this, it looks like over the next 7 to 10 years Mexico is going to be one of the richest countries in the world. If you want to buy property there it would be a good idea to buy it now even though it seems more expensive than a few years ago. Columbia is going to benefit from this too. Buy now!

The Buffalo Republic is very close to the Coffee Club and I also enjoyed it. My favorite sushi restaurant is within walking distance.

It's not foggy at all. It can be cloudy but it's really not important when everything else is gorgeous. We are having a great wether lately. I'm not wearing a jacket.

Thank you very much! I will be posting of course! I found the apartment because we met someone the first time we came. She gave us a very good deal. We are paying around US $300/month just because we were recommended.
I was only there on business and liked it very much. I get to Pereira on Friday, but going to hit Armenia and see how it is there.
I still haven't visited Pereira or Armenia but I will soon!

Hola Brandon! El café de Colombia es muy rico si se compra en lugares donde sepan hacer el café. A pesar de que venden mucho café en la calle, no siempre usan buena calidad entonces hay que buscar cafés para degustar su sabor. Estoy sorprendida de que digas que el mejor café que has probado es en Puebla.
Mexico tiene excelente café también. Hice un vídeo del café mexicano y por qué no es tan reconocido internacionalmente tan bien como el colombiano por ejemplo. Creo que el mejor café que yo he probado es en Chiapas y aquí pero no sé si cuente porque las dos veces estuve en un cafetal.

I say buy a house over renting. I’m the states all my money to to rent. Literally work my ass off just to make bills and rent in San Diego, when I came to tj the first months I kept thinking in dollars .

I don't understand. Is Manizales a part of Colombia similar to Mexico?
Some people have mentioned that Manizales is similar to some towns in Veracruz but I haven't visited them.
@@LaKarencitaMX nahh manizales is unique, located in the mountains of the andes in colombia, in the coffee region, the weather is template all the year, by the way the coffee region is huge in colombia located in most of the central part of colombia

Do people speak Spanish differently in Columbia than they do in Mexico?
Yes, definitely! There are a lot of differences in the accent and words that people use. Sometimes it's a little difficult to understand people!
I've been making a video about some of these differences and I want to release it soon.
Hi, we colombians speak Castilian Spanish, a lot of people from other countries say we colombians speak clearly, when I was growing up in the 60s and 70s some of our teachers were from Spain 🇪🇸 Colombia is probably the best country to learn Spanish.
just a little bit Colombians speak very clear ,yes they have different accents and some colloquial words are different than Mexicans words, but when it comes to proper Spanish Colombia has the best spanish in latinoamerica. Im from Mexico by the way.
Ummm I've spent several months in Colombia over the past 3 years. Mainly in the Valle de Cauca. You encounter different accents here just like any other Latin countries. At times I did not understand what people were saying...yes bits and pieces but I would ask my Colombia friend for help.

It's called Manizales. We don't have a car but everything is close and the public transport is excellent. I want to show this in another video.
In the area that we are living, there are many shops and restaurants on the same street so we definitely don't need a car.

A few years ago, this would have just been a travel video. Now, with all the US and Canadian baby boomers with all their retirement money and property-explosion wealth seeping around the cheaper world, it is more like a real-estate video for people with more money than they know what to do with. Not your fault, but that's how it feels.
