York is a city in southern Pennsylvania. Downtown, the Historical Society Museum displays fine art, furniture and tall-case clocks. Nearby is the Victorian-era Bonham House.
The Agricultural and Industrial Museum explores the city’s farming and manufacturing past. The Colonial Complex includes a mid-1700s home, a courthouse and the Golden Plough Tavern. The area’s vineyards are part of the Mason-Dixon Wine Trail.

York had also a nice Soul- Music History back in the 60ties! The 2 Formers of the Blue-Eyed Soulband " The Magnificent Men " are still Residents of York and was born there. Dave Bupp and Buddy King. The Magmen was the first white soulband who played black Theatre like the Uptown in Philly and the Apollo in New York! I really love the Architecture of York!

Interesting. I lived in York for a couple of years in the late 1960s. Didn't know the York Peppermint Patty, which I love, was invented there or that the city had briefly been the nation's capital. From what I can remember, it does not look like York has changed much since I lived there. I was hoping to see my old house, you came close but didn't pass it.

Hi John, I love history and I compare York Town and Lancaster a similar historic image of Heidelberg and Rensburg South-Africa. That seems to be totally unrelated, but I have reasons for my thinking. The Harley Davison Factory and the Peppermint Pattie factory is similar to the two factories associated with the blue color-culture of Heidelberg with the Rembrandt cigarettes and Escort canned meat factory. The old churches in Heidelberg and the churches in York Pensylvania are even built in the same historical style. I grew up in Heidelberg in SA where the Trompie (Trumpy-movies LOL) were shot in the late 1970's and early 1980's.
I am still very curious to know if you even knew rock and roll band called Live's members from Edgar Fah's Smith's Middle School and William Penn Senior High. It would be such a delight to know if you ever had contact or know them at all?

I lived in York Nov. 1985- Feb.2000. It looks like some of the downtown streets changed configuration as most of them were just 1 way streets form the center of the city extending 3-4 blocks in every direction before they became 2 way again.
I enjoyed living in south central PA for 14 years and found a lot to do, in addition to going to other historic places within a 2 hour drive in any direction of the city. While it's true the city has problems, that can be said of just about anywhere. It's unfortunate reading some of the negative comments. Be grateful that you are not living in a war-torn country, or a place where there is natural disasters, or other calamities. The American people need to stop being divided and try to get along with their fellow citizen, even if we disagree, if we want to exist as a free nation.

Should of called this video "27 things that don't matter" this is a poorly put together video.. the schools have the lowest test scores, the city has one of the highest crime rates around. The mayor's a junkie, with a felony (not legally allowed to hold office). They can't keep quality police, cops are either racist or another departments throw aways. New police chief every 3 months. The city's broke, their selling the water treatment plant now. (Probably to pay for the new court house they had to have or the baseball stadium no one wanted). Meanwhile homeless camps have taken over the underside of bridges along the creek. York is dying! Nobody's buying Harley Davidson bikes no more, and when that plant closes, and it will, so does York (just like GM and Detroit). Shootings are common, this is no place to raise children and anyone saying otherwise, has never been anywhere else. 💯

York seems like an up and coming place. Unfortunately it has a bad reputation due to crime. Most of central PA is pretty slow, behind the times, and full of kinda bland unpretentious people. I wouldn’t say it’s racist but a lot of ignorant people there who still think Sushi is some kind of Chinese food or if you’re not white, people will assume you come from another country and ask “where are you from?”
Not racist per se but more of just Innocent stupidity.
