Once again, the depth of knowledge of these old soldiers is remarkable. China has always been the prime mover behind the secessionist movements in the east. It always erodes India's sovereignty and control with its eastern states as well as its eastern neighbours like Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan etc.
Their salami slicing is real. What they ask from Bhutan by coercion is merely the beginning.
We definitely need to send a message to our enemies. YOU WILL PAY A VERY HIGH PRICE. I think your program sends this message in spades.

As a fmn cdr in the same area I can suggest that Chumbi is a graveyard for China. Yes what is worrisome is that Bhutan appears to have developed weak knees and may allow China to widen the dagger! They run the risk of getting stuck within. Yes Siliguri , Cooch Bihar, Malda , Darjeeling and movements like GNLF, KLO etc and Demography are weak areas. Gen KJ very well explained. Thank you

Can China use strategic bomber planes to carry out carpet bombings to destroy our impt places followed by airborne paradrop, infantry intrusion and artillery shelling to capture Siliguri corridor ?
In short, Have we taken use of strategic bombers by china into consideration in defending silliguricorridor?

  • @MrPoornakumar

Much has been written on this "Siliguri" corridor, calling it Chicken neck. Recently it has come into prominence. Here as an instance, of Pushp Kamal Dahal, the ruler of Nepal asking India to provide a land corridor for Nepal, till Bangladesh border. The idiot must know that India's own security is much more at stake that can't be compromised. He isn't an idiot but was made to ask this by his master's voice, PRC.
PRC is worried that this entry point to North-East that includes part of West Bengal state, would be used to fill N-E with the full range of military assets. Yes, India will bloody well do that and nobody needs to question it or doubt Indian intention.
Returning to the Siliguri corridor or Naxalbari "gap" (between River Mahananda forming border with Bangladesh and River Mechi with Nepal), it isn't worth calling it a corridor, which for defence purpose can't be that narrow. It is uniformly 22-23 km wide and 21 km +, at its narrowest. We are fortunate to live in this age of "dynamic" & ready maps (Google Earth that the American Administration has left for general public use across the globe & others). What used to take a year or more, to bring out all details onto a map on paper (the collection of my atlases is collecting dust because of non-use), it takes just a click of the mouse now, to know all the details.
Just 22 km wide gap between two countries that each might turn out to be cat's paw in the hands of our military adversary, is a bad idea. At least 40 km (25 mile wide) will take care of a railway line, roads, rivers & canals that pass through - while accommodating civilian population with their villages (with the unplanned influx from both the neighbours, if factored in). Length of the gap (about 20 km long) warrants the positioning of a cantonment, to keep the passage free, as per the demand arising in the N-E.
An opportunity arose, when the umpteen number of enclaves & exclaves (on both sides of international borders) were exchanged with our friend in east, to address attention to Siliguri corridor. Exchange of equal territory (like the 3-bigha corridor to Dahagrama enclave, that has the potential to become an eye sore). But the opportunity wasn't grabbed.
