- In this video I show you behind the scenes at a Stage 1 remap performed on a Peugeot 308 GTi.
You'll see exactly what to expect, what to avoid, and how much power and torque you can gain from this simple procedure.
Enjoy! (And feel free to ask questions)
It has been a long time since i'm waiting to see a remap for the 308 Gti ! Thx !!
Mehdi - thanks for watching! Please share the video to any peugeot people you think would like it!
Beautiful looking car
Waiting for some on board drive videos. I love the 308gti..
Hi Bradley, i had my 208 GTi remapped a couple of days ago. Stock figures were 181 hp at the flywheel (a little disappointing) and 281 NM. After the remap it produced 205 hp and 353 NM - the difference is incredible! However, the guy told me that a new intercooler is much needed, as we would probably see horsepower at around 220-225. I should have got it done before the trip to the ring. I hope eveything is well!
Simon Hansen that’s great to hear!
My dream car. Saving up till october when my insurance runs out and hopefully going to buy one then
What induction kit have you got on her mate I have a 2016 308 gtline not the gti was wondering do you think one from a gti would fit onto the gtline really struggling it’s on a stage 1 remap with a custom decat downpipe and cat back just need the induction to go stage 2
How much was the cost of the remap as I’m looking at trading in my 208 GTi for a 308 GTi and would like to get it mapped fairly soon
I have a peugeot 308 from 2014 1.6 THP 125 HP and 200 NM. From what I see stage 1 would give me 190 HP and 300 NM.. isn't that difference to big? From 125 to 190 with just stage 1?
Does it worth it? Do I need any other fizical changes to the car before stage 1?
Thank you!
Hi there , subscribed and liked :D I've got a marvellous RCZ R with 60k kilometers , i'm putting just in these days a K&N panel filter and i'm evaluating a light remap. I use ONLY 100 octane Q8 high quality fuel. I was thinking a pretty similar map , 15 / 20 hp more just to be in the reliability zone. Do you think is a proper decision ? Have u got some issues on the engine till this ecu remap ? Thanx in advance dude :)
What exhaust pipe would you put in a Peugeot 308 GTI? For the street, not for the circuit. Thanks!
Wonder what the difference would be with no remap and just using super unleaded. How much did the remap cost and did you tell your insurance company about the change? How much did that go up by?
Good video, looking at getting my 308 GTI remapped soon, shame about the bhp figure, I’m hoping to gain around 300 when I come to get mine done with a few mods to help
Callum Brown I really think I’d have been near to 300 with better fuel and slightly colder air. The engine just got a little warm.
Hi Callum, did you get your car remapped?
@@MrAlancarew Unfortunately not. Route went a slightly different way and upgrading to a Mercedes C43
@@callumbrown6751 wow...you did a whole paygrade upgrade . Niiice
Have u actually worked out the mpg the old fashion way?
Celtic Tuning got my 2018 308 GT Line 2.0 hdi from 150bhp to 190bhp and 366 lbf ft torque. It does 70mph to a 100mph in 6th gear in about 5secs. 0-60mph in 6secs using 2nd gear pullaway. It's a monster stonker! 60mpg avg.
Sounds quite hilarious to drive 🤣
Hi mate, where are these guys based?
The more I read about the 308 the more intrigued I am. I've previously owned a cupra 280 that was remapped. Like yours the power increase wasn't huge; 276 to 317 but torque was increased to 520Nm which was hilarious. Personally I'd prefer max torque to be higher up the rev range so as to avoid wearing out the tyres clutch and box so much. I'd guess that with normal cooling you would have seen a flatter torque curve which would have given you the power figure. Agree though that the only figure that matters is torque, but more important is the shape of the curve not just the peak value.
Even the more conservative tunes on the cupra see 350hp plus, somethings up there
@@checkyourself164 you'd have thought so, but that was on 2 different dynos. Torque was insane though. Mine was an early build and suffered from a weak impeller shaft and eventually blew up spectacularly (search golf R turbo failure although we're talking 4-5 years ago now)
Did you get engine failure/check engine light pop up since the remap?
oddiosanto nope - never
Whp or flywheel hp?
I own this car now. Love it.
Owen Boggis Is it still Y99 PUG?
Bradley Philpot yeah. Did you remap this car. Everything the same
Owen Boggis Yeah - you can see in this video ^^. I removed the Comkotes air intake when I sold the car but I’d be happy to sell it to you for £50 if you want it?
So how much break and torque does this car actually have
Owen Boggis 285bhp and 434NM of torque (with the Comkotes TMSR3 fitted). It’s currently got a K&N Panel air filter instead.
Remapped petrol engines do sweet fa.
My 2.0 hdi went from 150bhp to 210 bhp and a massive 380 lbs/ft torque on Remapping. With 60mpg. Can't wait to meet a gti ......
Behave haha, gti would laugh at you.
Did you paint the grille black or wrap it?
I don't mind the chrome window trim on mine but can't stand the chrome grille.
Did you remap yours? I have one and want to do mine
Nice video Brad. I’m looking at tuning my 3008 GT line. I have the petrol 1.6 165bhp model and would be impressed if I could achieve at least 200bhp from it.
leemason666 You should give it a go. The torque is the key difference in terms of every day driving - unless you’re flat out on the Rev limiter in each gear 😂💪🏼
Bradley Philpot will see what I can get out of it. It’s the 2017 3008. Traded in my 308 GT as used to have the THP 205bhp model but was no longer practical. Have you driven the new 3008 yet?
leemason666 absolutely! I’ve driven it thousands and thousands of miles! Only peugeot I’ve not got any experience of is new 508.
No way will you get 200bhp from a remap on a petrol engine running 165bhp. Unless you want to burn it after a few hundred miles!
How much was the cost my friend?
320 lbft from a 1.6 still blows my mind these engines are seriously impressive
Nice. A 100-200 kph would be nice. I'll do it with mine. Stock and Facelifted.
I think its better to start from 4th than 3rd just to prevent the acceleration gap.
And someone wrote in a German Forum that his tuner said 420 Nm is the maximum for the gearbox.
Do you have any more Infos about that?
Unbelievable how you got to 47 mpg (5l/100km)
How is that possible?
I'm driving carefully and let it roll often. Filling it up with premium petrol (102 Ultimate) and my average is 8l/100km
(~30 mpg)
There’s no way driving at 100 from 4th is better than 3rd. That’s 60mphs. There be so much delay. So it’s be boosting slowly.
3rd instant pick up. That’s what you want when you’re so times. Or just want to enjoy the the car 10/10ths style.
Bradley. I'm looking at remap (Just stage 1) cars just running with K&N panel. Not got loads of cash to throw at it. Hows the standard clutch coping with remap.. know any good remap companies near Banbury area.
Matthew Jarrett I haven’t had any issues with the standard clutch. I don’t drive like an idiot either though - I treat her with a lot of care. I don’t know any remap companies in the Banbury area but I’m sure they exist!
Don't use performance air filters.
50mpg that's insane
I think if I was to re-map this car, I’d be more than happy with 285 bhp. It’s powerful enough in factory spec. These are so light compared with rivals and very responsive hence why in my opinion 300+ hp would be over the top! So how many of these cars do you own?
What is the TMS R3?
chris marshall check out my review of it on my channel. It’s an air intake.
Why was there a need to remove the ecu? Surley they could flash through the obd port?
Andrew Connolly that’s not possible with these engines
There's a tuner in Germany called "Simon Motorsport". He's pretty good and active in Dubai too.
He said, some cars can be coded through the OBD port and at others the ECU must be opened.
Its different from every manufacturer
All 208 GTi and 308 GTi can be tuned through OBD. We no longer need to remove any ECU's on these here at DervTech Tuning - www.dervtech.com
OBD maps are available if you go to the right place.
When you put the car in sports mode after the remap, it shows the bhp, boost and nm its using. Did these also increase? I've got this car also
Good question
Yes. Not that I’ve remapped mine - yet
@@KING0SISQO I just sold mine yesterday unfortunately, the diff broke 😅
@@burksterrrr96 how you manage that? What prices are they to replace/repair
@@KING0SISQO just wear and tear at only 43k miles! I did drive it hard here and there but not all the time, I was quoted £1600 minimum but could be more, full gearbox out job etc, plus the front discs were coming up for renew which is at best 700 plus fitting. New clutch would be needed in about 5k miles I reckon so made sense to move it on.
Hi Bradley, how's the car going? I'm picking mine up in a weeks time, can't wait. Any driving videos coming up?
Hi mate, did you get yours a stage 1 tune also?
No mate, kept the car absolutely stock, love it, best car I've had👍👍
@@MrCallaghj ive had one 3 months now, nippy and good on fuel. I love it too
Hi Bradley. Hows your remap running? Did you know you have to replace your spark plugs every year? I've got a GTI as well and until a few days ago I was unaware of this when mine started to develop problems. The Peugeot dealership where I take my car haven't changed them in 3 years!!! I was furious.
Andrew Connolly Hi Andrew! I change my spark plugs every five thousand miles so I’ve already done them twice this year. The remap is going brilliantly thank you. I drove the car just this morning and it feels sharp and punchy and lovely!
Do you change them yourself and if so where do you get them from and what torque did you set them to? They seem to be Peugeot dealership only part. And at £140 a pop fitted, I'd like the option to do it myself. Thank you so much for your replies.
Andrew Connolly yes, I do it myself. Torque about 15-20Nm. I get them from Comkotes Tuning.
Sod bhp it's the torque you want and that has bucket loads!
Kev _G agreed!
Bradley Philpot especially up kesselchen hill 😂
Yeah the its the torque you want buddy
My 2.0 hdi has got 366 lbs ft after a remap. Turbo diesels always benefit remaps. Petrols don't don't. Why do people bother wasting money?
@@Turbomgzt how is it a waste. If the owner doesn’t require a diesel car. It doesn’t mean it won’t gain anything substantial. Loads of petrol cars do. There are a good few examples where they’ll get 100hp and 100lb torque in just a stage 1 map depending how powerful the car is naturally and how defined it is stock.
Be Interesting to see what power you would be running with a performance panel filter I reckon could be hitting 290
I've got a majorette 308 gti in that colour
Just seen this vid...ive also got 270bhp gti but had the tdi tuning box. Now around 345bhp...and lots of NM, however that too much power for the front, constantly wheel spin freely through the gears. Got vid mate.
Hi mark, where did you get yours done mate? How much?
@@MrAlancarew direct from tdi in Chelmsford, was £345, new tuning box also comes with app on phone so can adjust settings whilst driving
@@markh4898 that sounds good. Never heard of those performance gains on these. They rolling road it?
@@MrAlancarew they are direct from tdi themselves not sure if rolling road but guess so...check out their website for bhp/nm graph
@@markh4898 cheers mate...just emailed them. When you have it in sport and it shows the bhp does it go up to the 300s now?
😀😃😃😃😀😀😃MUMMA
Did you test 0-100 speed? :)
I'm thinking about remap my little GTi.
Crunchy Nuts Not yet but I do have an OBD reader which I can use for those tests now! So I will do it!
Crunchy Nuts Contact Comkotes Tuning about the remap!
@@BradPhilpot Would be nice to hear about it.
Hmm, where is Comkotes located?
Crunchy Nuts Essex
@@BradPhilpot Could be problematic. I'm from germany. 😅
Mumma wants a go
Hey mate, I have seen your video and I was hoping you could recommend a good tuning company for my 308 GT Line Diesel 2.0 Stage 1 200BHP. Stock was 150BHP Cheers
DervTech in Manchester
Hello man, do you still own it?
I’m afraid not!
@@BradPhilpot ok, do you remember boost pressure on stage 1?
very high specific output already on this - this is one car i'd be wary of remapping
alfamonk all ok so far. Our race car runs a substantially more aggressive map with an identical engine with no issues.
Forged pistons and crank. I've read it's as strong if not stronger than the EA888 engine which is largely unbreakable.
@@steviesteve750 more gearbox and clutch
@@steviesteve750 Unbreakable by tuning. Unbreakable simply driving? Not so much 😂
Hold on, so you're into car tuning, but you don't like seeing your car hitting the redline? What's the point in tuning it then?
Surely you can understand the difference between: wanting more power throughout the rev range and: seeing your car going through extreme stress? I never rev my road car that hard so it’s painful to watch. The point in tuning it is to have more useable power and torque.
Just got my 308 gti 270 and found out its 300hp 400nm just wondering if it can handle it 🤞?aye only get 34mpg 😁
I get 34-38 which os pretry good for its performance
Has yours been tuned then?
@@MrAlancarew aye its been mapped but don't know who by 😂 but its a good map onit got good power band and its Savage above 4k🤣
And a res delete straight pipe from back boxs
@@dice1902 how did you find out it had a map mate?
Warning, avoid Comkotes like the plague. They're not a real tuning company, they have little car knowledge and subsist on selling manufacturers parts at inflated prices. They didn't even build their demo car (they paid an actual tuning company to build it on their behalf to drum up business). Don't just take my word for it, research Comkotes and Tee Shervell before buying anything from them and make up your own mind.
Go to dervtech
Take that shit tmsr off standard box with a panel filter the tmsr heat soaks I’m from the 208 owners club a lot of modified 208 gti and they will tell you about comkotes
I dont understand. Comkotes good or bad? Should he keep standard box or not?
320 lbs/ft torque. Lol my 2.0 hdi remapped by Celtic Tuning got 380 lbs/ft pmsl.... and 65mpg avg. 0-60 about 6 secs. 70-100 in 6th gear about 5 secs.
Same handling, shit loads less than the gti. I'm 😊
My wife has a 2.0 hdi i have a 308gti...defo not the same handling, but we love the hdi. Had it 8 years
@David Dempster there’s a significant difference in handling between the HDi and GTi. Peugeotsport tuned chassis, Michelin super-sport tyres and limited slip differential see to that!
