  • Here I discuss how to start measuring a beaded hatband. I measured out 20” for the beaded portion which I found to be a universal size. I forgot to mention in the video, but each end of the measuring tape should have a tail long enough for the empty space and for the weaving that your leather will be glued to. If using a total measurement will help you better understand this concept, then measure out a total of 30” to ensure your string is long enough.

Thanks for this Video. I've been looking for it for as long as I can, as I'm attaching the yarn, which is sooo long, to the loom.

Hello - I am new to beading, I want to make a hat band for a new Fedora I purchased. I am looking at western (possibly Native American) or Southwestern. What type of thread are you using for your products, can you share a link for where you purchase your supplies?

Your tutorials are great! I'm a beginner and you've taught me so much already. When you do start beading, as you work your way down, do you just roll the beaded section as you work your way down? Hope my question is clear.

If I’m understanding correctly, your asking how I continue to bead the excess string and where the beaded portion goes. Yes, the top and bottom bars of my loom are bolted, therefore when I run out of string, I can loosen the bolts and roll them so the beads coil around the top and the blank string is available for me to bead!

I purchased my loom from an Etsy shop called Number86ByAlex. There are many different options to choose from, but I chose this one because it is less stressful on my neck and shoulders.

@@valeriemartinet6334 Yes. I use the same string for the entire band. I know some people do not like doing that, but it creates a more consistent look and your threads will look nearly non-existent when you do.

I actually roll it off to the side of the nail and adjust my strings on the opposite side!
