Why Blank firers won't work as a real gun

Why blank firing guns won't work as a real gun without a near total modification.
This only applies to guns designed as blank firers, not a fully functioning gun that can either use blanks or live ammo for obvious reasons.
In the UK for example we can own Blank firers as long as you are 18 or older while lots of pistols are totally banned from civilian ownership.
I often get asked or see people asking what stops someone from turning a blank firer into a live gun and as you will see it's nearly totally impossible.
Obviously I DO NOT CONDONE OR ENCOURAGE ANYONE TO DO ANYTHING ILLEGAL WITH BLANK FIRERS!
