      @beeble2003 point taken. The difference is that it was only a few days into the war that it became widely viewed that none of the Russian war machines were updated unless it was coping cages and logs strapped to tanks. Conversely, the F-16 has been flown by 25 nations and has been updated over the decades to suit the country they are used in. Only draw back is the lack of them. If Russia had the F-16, it would have been used by them on day one.

    I have great respect for major general Chapman. I would like to make an observation in addition to what he made. I would also like to 0:17 give an opinion based on the fact that I'm an American and I participate in politics on the Democratic side here in the USA. Point number one, I believe that when the ukrainians receive enough f-16s they will do something bold. I am reminded of Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle flying, Mitchell B25 bombers off of a aircraft carrier to strike Tokyo. This was cathartic. Galvanized the resolve of the American people. It meant victory was defined as unconditional surrender. I think the ukrainians will mount a bold and possibly reckless attack against the Russians using those f-16s. I believe they'll give Putin a bloody nose. Hopefully that will hasten his demise from the political scene. My other point is that Putin, in my opinion has a great deal of compromising evidence against Trump. I believe Putin has all the control he would ever need in order to direct Trump and Trump's responses. By every saying definition of the word it is well known it was done on television, Trump is a traitor and the Republicans are a fifth column for Putin. Thank you.

      @Coveangel Před měsícem +5

      Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle

    • @timonsolus
      @timonsolus Před měsícem +4

      The difference between the 1942 Doolittle Raid and Ukraine getting F-16s is that the only way the US could lose the WW2 Pacific War is by the morale of American women collapsing, believing that the US couldn’t win, and believing that their sons, husbands and boyfriends were dying for nothing. In reality the economic strength of the US was 10 times that of Imperial Japan, meaning that the US could produce 10 times as many ships, tanks and planes as the Japanese, so it was always completely impossible for Japan to win as long as the USA kept fighting.
      The F-16s to Ukraine factor has more in common with Germany producing the Me 262 jet fighter in 1944-45. The Me 262 was a game changing weapon, but German industry couldn’t produce anywhere near enough of them to affect the outcome of the air battle over Germany, the Luftwaffe didn’t have enough experienced pilots left to fly them, and their airfields were under constant attack by Allied aircraft, destroying many Me 262s on the ground.
      Ukraine is only receiving a tiny fraction of NATO’s total F-16 strength. They will achieve some small local tactical successes, of course, but not enough to make any difference to the outcome of the war on the strategic level.

    The whole lot of you media people need to listen to your poor use of language. All of you. For months you are saying "F-16s won't be a game changer".
    That is ridiculous. And of all people I can't believe you would use that phrase.
    There is a difference between a "game changer" and a "game ender".
    Will F-16s change the war? If they bring something to Ukraine's arsenal that fills a gap, then the game is changed.
    Will F-16s by themselves end the war. No.
    Combined Arms is the terminology. Are small arms a game changer? Try clearing trenches, basements, and urban areas without small arms. You won't. That means if a military receives small arms it changes the game.
    What one single weapon, would in your opinion, by itself be a "game changer"? You will not be able to think of one to fit your definition. Even if a huge nuclear bomb is used by Russia on Kyiv it would not win the war for Russia if they did not have the combined arms to go take the land after the explosion.
    F-16s would not be going to Ukraine if they were not going to change things.
    In team sports you may have 1 superstar that seems to make a great difference and ends the chances of the opponent. But without the supporting players that athlete falls flat.
    F-16s are a single part of the combined arms and will change how Russia approaches the game of war. Game changer!

      russia will be fighting an army from 50 years in the future. T62's are deathtraps to modern shells. towed guns are simply static targets to counter battery fire. AA is useless. for a parallel ... think civil war north facing a 1918 British army with tanks and machine guns. thats the problem.
