This was a lovely interview - thanks very much for all your hard work Nicole. I'm glad the women were showing their appreciation towards you. I noticed that your colleague David Seymour still maintained his dignity and spoke politely, despite people trying to drown out his speech. That's great you get to work together.

The reporters questions asked repeatedly of Mr Luxon were divisive. As Mr Luxon stated he has been up and down the counrty talking with Iwi, waiting to see the outcome of those discussions. Havent watched any waitangi footage this year.
I knew it would be portrayed as everyone against the new government but everyone was unified and happy blah blah
Media hypes it up like a ufc match

I watched all the live video footage out of Waitangi, and although I do whakapapa to two iwi, I felt like we do a disservice to our nation having that type of event as our one and only celebration of nationhood. There is always a place for free speech and debate, but I don’t think it should be at our day of celebration. It is such a turn off - like watching a marital quarrel at a family party. I think keep it going as Waitangi Day there as is if that is what Nga Puhi want, but I would love to see something much more positive start happening as well - so we can start to feel positive and proud about what it is to be a New Zealander - for Māori and for everyone. In fact, Māori usually have a mixed ethnicity anyway (as Nicole said for herself), so for us all to be reflected in. To have some fun and to enjoy what it is to live in this beautiful country, instead of always arguing and focussing on the negative.

Change is coming brother, for the good of all people. I think David Seymour just woke us up for the betterment of Maori people. The Rangatahi are making waves, making small but good changes for their whenua. For years there’s been too much talk and not enough action, if the government can support the iwi’s that are trying to make a change in their areas, New Zealand as a whole will sky rocket into the stars. Too much division between pakeha and Maori at the moment, disgusting comments as well in the comment section.

Interesting. Nicole uses the pronunciation of the wh, in powhiri as I was taught up north as a small child, in the eraly fifties, in Ngapuhi country. When I got to Auckland, the pronunciation had changed to pofiri. the wh used as an F. Which my neighbours , in Kaitaia, insisted the that F sound did not exist in Maori.

Democracy means One Person, One Vote, not preferential treatment because your ancestors were race-mixers. Your culture is backward, and I'm tired of pandering.

I'm Māori and don't support Act. But I do support and think Mckee and Seymour should have been given the opportunity to speak peacefully on that occasion. I understand most of our protocols don't usually allow woman to speak during the pōwhiri segment, but I think this time of tension needed her to be heard.

Brave and articulate MP who also respects her culture and traditions. Another hero in this 'story' is the Marae, its Elders and those who approved (if that is the right word) her speaking. Yes, we may consider that antiquated but maraes have protocols which when being invited onto should be respected. So much aroha to local marae, its iwi, Nicole and her supporters. This to me as a ngati pakeha celebrates what is good about cultural awareness and being a proud New Zealander.

Sean, why don't you see if you can get some of the so called 'main stream' media (producer level) to front for an interview on the Platform to ask why they are misreporting certain subject matters. Is it poor journalism or is it a deliberate attempt to change the narrative? Surely you can give them plenty of examples. Also who is making the editorial calls in these cares?
